  1. Woo! Been watching NASA TV for the last two hours.
  2. Awesome... I really hate dealing with BSAs, makes it so much more annoying to tinker with the files.  Obviously good for those who want to "click-and-play", but for something like STEP this will get annoying.  It also means you'll have to deal with the load order of BSAs on top of ESPs.
  3. Eww, kind of in the way.
  4. Wait, it's not just a temporary block? Â That's insane that you can get banned just for attempting to download too much. Â At most they should just start throwing a Captcha at your IP.
  5. Lol! Â When it's like that I just give up for a few hours, but this one seems pretty bad. Â You gotta wonder how much of the problem is their inability (or unwillingness) to buy new equipment and how much is just inefficient software.
  6. Yup, it seems to be having a lot of issues lately (right now for instance), even after their major back-end update that was supposed to stop it. I guess it's understandable since the base of the entire site was built by amateurs, but it's a major problem none-the-less.
  7. Great suggestions, I'll go through and see which ones work when I get a chance, and of course I'll take screenshots along the way :D Â I'm running Win7 x64 with all the latest drivers and I've bumped the resolution down to 1024x768. Â I also have Aero disabled and Admin enabled on TESV.exe as well as clear out the background processes as much as I can before running it. Â Unfortunately it's a Dell XPS 400 and back in the day they used more proprietary crap than they do now. I've tried just about every temperature monitor I can find but none of them can pick up on the CPU's temp. I can overclock the GPU and I'll see how high I can get it; is there any good software for monitoring GPU usage? Â I've noticed for VRAM usage that it's pegged at ~240MB, does this mean there's some setting allocating the rest somewhere else, and if so can I undo that?
  8. So I thought I'd give this a shot to help out my brother since he's been cursed with an ancient machine.  Last weekend I gutted the thing, cleaned it out (new thermal paste and all), and reformatted it. Here's the specs, and keep in mind that this is an attempt to get it "playable" without upgrading: Intel Pentium D @ 2.8 Ghz Nvidia 7900GS @ stock (256MB VRAM) 3GB DDR2 RAM @ 553 Mhz So obviously it auto-configured to Low, everything bottomed out.  In just the cart -> creation bit I got ~20 fps without much major stuttering.  So I installed Unofficial Skyrim Patch, Vanilla Reduced Textures (512), Skyrim Performance Plus (Mains + Extreme Rift), and Mountains Performance Boost (512) through Mod Organizer.  He hasn't let me get to Whiterun yet but on the way to Riverwood it was holding steady at 20-25 fps except for a major stutter if I turned too quickly.  I'm also getting some weird shadow flickering but that'll be fixed with some clean INIs (I screwed with them too much at once without recording the changes). Does anyone know of any other mods or tweaks that can help squeeze out a few more FPS?  This might go without saying, but he's been playing Minecraft since it was released so playable frame rates trump any kind of quality.
  9. A thread already existed for this mod, so I've merged the two.  Remember to use Search next time! I've been looking at this one for a while, 83Willows is usually pretty good. It's on my list of mods to create comparison shots for, thanks for bring the thread back :D
  10. Yeah, there are a few developers that are being more engaged, as the post pointed out, and are really doing well because of it. You make great points MW25, and it's not just the companies I agree, everybody gets their panties in a bunch whenever something slightly displeasing is said, but in this day and age it's becoming critical to communicate with your fanbase and that's a huge problem when developers are only aloud to talk about games slated for release. I applauded Bethesda's Game Jam video and their willingness to reveal it, but it's unfortunate that insight like this is noteworthy instead of normal.
  11. You might want to hold off on using the guide, it's quite outdated and we're less then a few weeks away from a new one. Â At the moment there aren't very many mods for Dawnguard (although that'll change very soon) so there isn't much to support. Â In the future we'll probably make a "Dawnguard Pack", but don't expect it any time soon.
  12. Gaming’s Biggest Problem Is That Nobody Wants To Talk
  13. Umm... that is quite a harsh statement just because they didn't respond to you.  How are they thieves or liars because of that?
  14. I found this a few days ago but haven't gotten around to actually testing anything, but from your shots and the website it's looking pretty good.
  15. Pretty good, thanks for bumping this back up :)
  16. Right??  As soon as I saw that post my eyes rolled.  Anyways, let the tsunami of mods come! On a STEP note, I imagine we'll create a Pack for the Dawnguard mods at some point when the developers have had time to sink their teeth in (get it!? Vampires! Hah!  ), so let's just hope that the DLC is non-invasive for the rest of STEP until then.
  17. I'm liking the preview shots, I'll add it to my testing list.
  18. Wow, definitely grabbing this one.
  19. Unless it's just assets of course. Â For mods this old, we should also check out the mod's permissions and/or ask the authors if we (or they) can upload an updated version. Â I'd rather go through and do it once than put it in the guide and have to teach multiple forum-goers how to.
  20. I'm really digging the walls and floors too, definitely an option to test.
