  1. That's rather annoying... why did he do that? I was looking forward to using this.
  2. Wat? Testing is needed with the final product as well, a lot of problems stem from the conflict between mods, not the mods themselves.
  3. took me about 15 minutes to write it up (did it myself too often...). of course there is the SIG but the problem is, that many people don't have a clean vanilla setup as backup in the first place. They come to this forum after a long way of modding their game without having heard anything about clean saves etc.I myself have a really bad internet connection which makes validating any files by steam really really really annoying (internet mostly dies before it ran the validation). It's fairly easy to manually delete only those files that don't have anything to do with skyrim vanilla and then run a validation as check, whether or not some original files have been lost. That's exactly what I was thinking of it for. I was actually in that situation after forgetting to make a backup before I threw SKSE and RCRN in, so that helped me get a truly vanilla archive (ultra-compressed down to 6GB for safe keeping :D ). Any better name ideas than "Make Skyrim Vanilla Again" or "How to Clean Skyrim"? I'm not a very creative writer, lol.
  4. Very cool! Will be testing this!
  5. That is a great little app! Â I've tried a few of the on-screen display programs but none of them worked properly for some reason. Â This will definitely come in handy for testing :D
  6. Archives are another name for the ZIP/RAR/7Z files, and in this case it means the one you download off of the Nexus. Â Unfortunately I don't use NMM so I'm not sure how you'd go about selecting which folders to include, but there should be an option for it somewhere in the installation process. This might not be viable with your schedule, but if you're looking to make STEP long lasting and mostly worry-free after the initial setup you might want to check out our guide on Wyre Bash. Â It may look complex but if you take a weekend to learn the interface it makes it a hell of a lot easier to manage your mods, especially in the case of STEP and it's ~170 mods. Â If that's not your cup of tea, there's also Mod Oganizer, which provides the ability to independently manage your mods without worrying about overwrites/conflicts. Â It's not nearly as powerful but if you really can't manage WB it's the next best thing. Sorry I couldn't directly answer your question but I hope it helps.
  7. Yeah but they're no where near as thorough, and this also includes testing to make sure the vanilla installation is stable.
  8. Yeah, but it didn't start until I updated to the 12.7 Beta drivers... bummer. Â I tried with a clean install and it's still there so it looks like I'm going back to release drivers for now. See above. EDIT: Â Woohoo, it's fixed, and all it took was Driver Sweeper and a few reboots.
  9. Where did you find those instructions (or did you make them )!? Â I'd very much like to post those on our wiki, and of course I like to give credit where it's due.
  10. I've been playing for a couple weeks now on a 1.6 install with almost zero crashes, although I used Mod Organizer to install my mods and started a new game. Â Before you go blaming Skyrim, first ensure that you have a completely clean copy of the game and have installed all of the latest versions of the mods properly. Â This post (in the spoiler tag) provides a very thorough guide on creating a clean installation.
  11. Skyrim's running at least as smooth as before, but I'm getting a messed up compass. Â Any ideas as to who's causing it, or is it time for Pin the Bug on the Mod? EDIT: This is sticking around even running "almost Vanilla" (since MO can't handle SKSE and RCRN). Â Tomorrow I'll test with an entirely clean game and a new save. Â If that doesn't work then I guess it's time to break out Driver Sweeper.
  12. Woohoo! I only have the 6870 but hopefully there's still some candy for us.
  13. I haven't gotten any crashes with the two separate files in 1.6 yet, but I'll install this one instead and see how it goes.
  14. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19511 Looks really good! Â Just another texture mod, not much more to say is there?
  15. The author seems to disagree: I'll definitely be throwing this on to test regardless. Â It's unfortunate that this mod breaks anything that relies on the actual city cells, but I think it works with STEP almost entirely. Â Assuming it gets to a stable state, it might be worth including and it's growing popularity will surely sway mod authors to make compatibility patches.
  16. Unfortunately you caught me heading off to bed, so I can't be of much help, but there's no way we can see that image, it's only 100px wide...
  17. Neva! Â It usually doesn't get to me, guess it's been a while.
  18. Ah, ok, good to know. I haven't played in a couple months now, since I went inactive for school. I'm pretty sure it's not a STEP mod, but I'm doing some checks anyways. My next step (ha! get it?... boy that's gonna get old around here...) is to extract everything from the BSAs and run the texture optimizer/compressor tools over them. Then I actually get to start a new game! I'm thinking of being an evil battlemage dude this time.
  19. As the title says, when I run BOSS through MO it puts everything in the correct order but Skyrim.esm at the top is left blank. Â If I manually check it off, save, and re-boot MO it stays checked, but if I try BOSS again, it goes away. Â I'm having some other issues figuring out which mod is giving me random CTDs, but besides that the game still loads and most mods seem to be working even with the ESM left un-checked. Â All my mods are updated and I'm using MO v0.11.2, but I'm still wondering if the empty checkbox is something more than just a visual bug. Â Anyone have any ideas?
  20. I would recommend doing a search for Ivy Bridge and try and find recent reviews. I haven't kept up with it, but reviews from just over 2 months ago were reporting not that much of an increase in performance over SandyBridge, and general inconsistencies with overclocking and heat issues. Most of the deal with Ivy Bridge is smaller chip sizes and reduced power consumption is it not? Â That said, I've seen a decent jump in performance from Bloomfield to Sandy Bridge, so making the jump to a 2500k/3570k should help there. For RAM, I'd recommend Kingston or Corsair, but anything with a heatsink, decent reviews, and "gaming" in the description should be fine.
  21. I have the 2500k also and I was thinking about giving it a good OC (currently running at 3.6 I believe), but I'm afraid to push it on the stock cooler. Could you recommend a good one for less than 50 or so? I've had my eye on the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, but if I can do better for not that much more, that'd rock. The Hyper 212 is one of the best coolers you can buy for price/performance. But i would recommend the Evo version for overclocking as it has more contact between the heat pipes and the radiator. Even then it really depends on how far you want to push it. In a lot of tests with moderate overclocking, the Evo reduces average load temperature by about 3C compared to the Plus. Oh! That's actually the one I was looking at. It was a while ago I looked at them and I didn't remember the exact name when I Google'd it for that link. That's pretty good for $5, look forward to some OCing :D

  23. Discussion thread: Dungeon Quest Awareness by Darkwolfn1 Wiki Link Nifty mod that adds "(Quest - quest start location)" to any dungeon that's utilized in a major quest. I've done this a few times; where you stumble across a dungeon and clear it out only to discover later that a quest sends you back there. Hopefully this doesn't interfer with anything else since it should just be changing location names, but I've installed it with my new playthrough to test.
