  1. If chesko does leave he'll probably do the same as acceq. If you dont know the story, basically he left to his own site and then came back a few months later. I hope chesko doesnt pull a mysterymodder. I completely dislike mystery's decision by removing all his content. I prefer the "No support" and open perms decision when mods/modders abandon their work.
  2. I havent been following this discussion but Nexus took a step in what I believe the be the correct direction.
  3. I was able to run step with 1k textures on my 2GB 6970, I now own a 970 and I have thrown mostly 2k at it and it gets heavy at times but its been really good. If another card is released I will likely upgrade.
  4. *raises hand* Dog person here.
  5. Well do you want to delete the mod and the reinstall it as a clean mod, select replace. If you are installing a second part or an update then select merge
  6. In features how does this compare to ch? Are there any notable perks to this mod? Why should someone switch?
  7. That may only be on the steam store which is understandable. Now if you start to see links on the nexus to disappear then grab the pitchforks but for now wait.
  8. When I first read it, it didnt seem like a joke and thats why everyone was keeping tabs. I took a brief look at the landscape textures and there are a few good textures but they didnt quite have the style that I was looking for. When I was looking yours over, I was also having very specific textures in mind such as the roads the the matching base textures. None of the textures really had that "bumpy" normal map which is also part in my decision. Anyhow, its always nice to see another mod that includes support for terrain parallax because it was definitely slim pickins
  9. At least I have all my teeth... wait, I just had some pulled, **** :/ I guess you can call medication a positive Octo, my family has an abyssinian guinea pig. His name is skunk for good reasons.
  10. EnableCompression=true may give you some stutter and you do not need to ddsopt anything because 4GB can handle it just fine.
  11. I would suggest that you add this to "find it" as it may prove useful. AddItemMenu Shh, I dont feel like filling out a mod topic :P
  12. After thinking about this a little more, I believe this is the conclusion I have. For a handful mods this is a blessing to be able to monitze their hard work. Just to pull some names and give -what I believe to be- a reason able amount to them: Falskaar is worth $3, Frostfall is worth $2.50 and Wet and Cold is worth $2.00. All of the mentioned names have proved their worth over quite some time. The major problem I have with this is every mod author and their mother will make mods like the single sword and post it for 99 cents, even though no one in their right mind is going to purchase it but stay with me here. Skyrim's mods are not JUST a few good releases. There are ~40.5K mod pages on the nexus. I think only about ~5-10 k are even worth your time to look at. But just think about how many popular mods you use in you Load Order or Install, now think if some mods were hidden behind a 99 cent paywall. I dont know about you but have I dont have that kind of money laying around. This can also inhibit modders growth. In some ways. Lets be honest if there was a fairly new author that just so happens to release exclusively behind the paywall then that wouldn't be smart and their mods would likely disappear or the author would have to think about what he/she is doing. My main fear is that the "Paid" mods will mimic the app store. If you have never used it or have never really been observant then you may have missed some pretty ridiculous stuff. The app store is flooded with copies of copies of apps of copies of real copyrighted software and. (they also seem to get away with it but that is off topic) Just about every single one has two versions, a free, and a paid. NONE of which block you from said content. I dont have a problem with the monitization method other the app though. If you dont like it or dont feel that it is worth your time then dont purchase it and deal with the ads. Most of the time the ads are on the very bottom and doesnt hurt the experience that you are getting for free. But a paywall is the worst solution. Yes, there is a 24hr return thing but I wonder how long that deal would last. This is another one of my opinions, I dont think 24hrs is long enough because it takes many hrs ingame to really test how a mod feels and not everybody has the chance to play skyrim for many hours in one day or at all due to other issues. EDIT: Dont you dare pull the "YouTubers make money off content" thing. Yes, YouTubers get paid but it isnt the same in terms of the monitization methods. YouTube ads are passive. If you REALLY dont want them then use AdBlock. There are a few different way to monitize on YouTube in terms of ads. You can have the little banner at the bottom, watch an ad for 5sec then have it be skipable, or have an unskipable ad. I hate exclusives on consoles. The "Nexus Exclusive" thing is kinda annoying but that is what I use any not everyone chooses to use the nexus but the same thing goes for "Steam Exclusives". I would likely avoid using the workshop for skyrim mods because many of the mods have issues such as deleted nav meshes, dirty plugins and/or deleted objects which we all know can cause some pretty major issues under some circumstances. I think I am done, take what you. TL;DR this can be good but it is a very slippery slope. That I will probably avoid except for the MUST HAVES and when the price is worth it. I'll likely pay the minimum and donate the difference between the recommended and minimum amount directly to author. EDIT: I took at the recommend price for Wet and Cold is $5.00 which is completely absurd. The min is 99 cents, I wonder how low it can actually go. ~apparently 30 cents EDIT2: People need to stop posting that damn ascii art because you are not helping anyone.
  13. This is despicable. Welcome to the app store. Where **** is free and anything worthwhile is behind a bloody 99 cent pay wall and still doesn't work right. Im afraid if I say anymore I may go off the deep end. This is also where people start pirating paid mods by putting them on other sites. You think its bad now? Put a pay wall in front. Im am never going to support this but I will be fighting against it. In my own words STEP should NEVER encourage this level stupidity (purchasing mods). Donations are fine but outright paying for something, no. I will leave this site if it ever accepts it as a normal because it messed up and you should have already realized this.
  14. I would say check your lo for errors https://forum.step-project.com/topic/7706-ctds-in-worldspace-tamriel-outside-whiterun-and-other-concerns/?p=122514
  15. Heres a proper DSR patch for perma https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64647/?
  16. Interesting NPCs is busted and is likely the source. I believe He uploaded week2 that fixes it. Someone else will have to assist because I'm going to be gone for a Lil bit
  17. At this point I going to say that papyrus is useless for more released mods because the debugging code in scripts is generally removed. In other words ignore it and do the "Check for Errors" thing in xEdit.
  18. I dont know anything about the papyrus system. I do however know that Inigo has some deleted nav meshes. I'll look into fixing them, give me ~20mins try this and see if its repeatable. It fixed those pesky deleted nav meshes. If it still errors out then load up xEdit with your entire lo then after it finished the background loader select a chunk and "Check for Errors". Do this until you have checked you lo for errors and then share your TES5Edit log. You can leave out the DLC and unofficial patches.
  19. sigh, dont be so stressed out about this. Im saying install it like normal as in "Download with manager" and then install it. Its just an skse dll. To properly troubleshoot the issue there has to be a baseline to work from. Most of us will link the sticky so people can ready it and get the memory stuff figured out. I have helped people before finding this out and I was having people go in a circle.
  20. first you install memory blocks log like normal and then it will generate a log file in the overwrite folder in "SKSE\Plugins\" Then cause your game to crash and share the log file via a spoiler or by linking pastebin. The post definitely applies to all CTDs, freezes and whatnot. TL;DR or it is, the mem tweaks are not applying due to various reasons. Today there isn't much that can led to a crash that isn't understood.
  21. I think the deviation from vanilla is understandable and I think that the new one fit just fine but for it to really fit in for STEP, it would be better if the rugs were not so new and clean. EDIT: I didnt even read aiyen's last sentence but apparently we came to similar conclusions about the rugs being too clean.
  22. so... Back to Blocks 1 size discussion. I noticed that I have been getting ILS significantly more often which isnt a big deal because I'm just comparing textures and whatnot but I took a look at my memoryblockslog.log and it showed this and Im curious if anyone wants me to try some stuff? I'll likely increase blocks 1 and move on but its there.
  23. If there is a missing mesh then I believe you can get the from from the red (!). For a light bulb I would do it is find an object that you can find the formID of that is close to it. Then open xEdit and search for the given formID and see if any lights are being touched with both the light bulb itself and its references.
  24. Check this sticky https://forum.step-project.com/topic/6726-common-ctds-freezes-ils-and-memory-issues/
  25. As for the bodies, watch to see if they fall through the world. I've had that happen too many times.
