The water LOD issue: High Quality LODs by Ethatron from the nexus...he has the download split out into mesh, normal and "color" textures... A related post on that mod's forum here. Nice screenie illustrating issue: The sky LOD issue: Many ENB Presets have it bundled but you can download the mesh from the ENBDev Forums. I don't use the mesh myself, I simply use the mist and/or DOF effects to mask the ugliness of the skyline break. The mesh fix works for most people, but not everyone. https://enbdev.com/enbseries/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1930&p=43226 Like the water line, it really never gets erased completely only adjusted or masked. My experience with the mesh: Without Mesh: https://i.imgur.com/a77lbLi.png Using Mesh: https://i.imgur.com/vsJXqLe.png Your results will vary depending on your ENB preset and quality settings...the screenies above were a bare bones only fixes type ENB Preset I was running.

Constant CTD Near Knifepoint Ridge
Kuldebar replied to Holymartyr's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Not necessarily, obviously it depends on the mod, and we aren't trying to play the game so much as see if the specific CTD problem changes or is eliminated by the absence of a particular mod. Depending on the mod, it might not be possible to disable and load a save, but for most mods, that is not the case and we can use mod disabling as a troubleshooting method. If you are CTD'ing in a predictable manner, we need to change the scenario to see what, if any mod, is causing the repeatable CTD in that specific area in the game. Curious you bring up footprints, because that has caused issues in the past, but not having used the mod, I don't personally know its current stability status. -
I went back and ran LOOT (after backing up my BOSS load order list) and ran the game...CTD'd before the game even loaded. The LOOT Team has something good going here...reading each esp/esm file details as a means to sort the mod lists...but they don't explain it very well nor do I have any idea how to intelligently/manually place mods in such a system or impose any overrides because I'm flying blind. LOOT is a black box, I can't peek into it see how it works...unlike BOSS which used human input and error checking by sampling trends.

....so bracket [ then spoiler followed by a ]...close the spoiler with [ and /spoiler and a ] Do you use SSME and ENBoost? -
I guess I don't understand...using EFF (non-beta) my followers level along with my character -I don't have to manage that. The only exceptions are custom follower mods that create super high leveled follower NPC's...EFF doesn't "de-level" them for you -but personally I avoid follower mods made like that... I know when I create a follower NPC, I always ensure they start out relatively low level...like, say, 4 and then level based on Player Character Level.

Constant CTD Near Knifepoint Ridge
Kuldebar replied to Holymartyr's question in General Skyrim LE Support
In situations like this, I start the process of elimination if I suspect it is a mod related issue...versus a corrupt save or rogue script. (It may be worth looking into active scripts via the Save game script cleaner by Hadoram) Not (at least initially) for actually using to clean, but for its ability to show you the active script instances you have running in a particular save. All the appropriate warnings apply, if you should choose to use this nifty tool, make a backup of the save file first and read the instructions for the utility. Back to elimination process: systematically uncheck in Mod Organizer blocks of mods and load the game up and see when and if the CTD occurs. Repeatable issues are the easiest to resolve in most cases. Another thing: You use SSME but do you also run ENBoost and have it configured? -
Interior Mist Issue - Dark Outlines Around Objects
Kuldebar replied to oqhansoloqo's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Have you made any adjustments to fBlockMaximumDistance in the SkyrimPrefs.ini? Since you don't use an ENB, you should load up the game using default, game provided ini files just to see if anything changes. Copy your current INI (Skyrim.ini & SkyrimPrefs.ini) from your Mod Organizer Profile and put them in a safe place. Copy unedited game INI files into your MO Profile Folder and load your save to test results. If you need to generate fresh INI's just delete the old ones from the default folder: "X:Documentsmy gamesskyrim" and run the steam launcher so new INI's can be created. -
I can "free up" more usable space in a container by modifying how the items within said container are distributed...so, semantically, I find the concept of "freeing up memory" to be absolutely correct in this case. :) In relaying concepts to people, I find it best to give people a frame of reference to rely upon so they can build their own understanding, all the exceptions to the rules and other such complexities can be addressed later after they get the basic idea. At least, that's how it works for me.

Do you have the ENB Subsurface Particle Patch installed or use an ENB Preset? If so, does it change when turn it off in game? Shift+F12 -
Seasons of Skyrim ENB True HDR (by bronze316)
Kuldebar replied to TechAngel85's topic in Post Processing
I am trying the performance version of this ENB, and I'm amazed at what I get while still having some great FPS rates. Admittedly, it is far more of a "fantasy" feel than Undramatic ENB (which I love but it eats my GPU performance a bit), but I have never poo-p0oed having a fantasy game look well, fantastic. So, I'll be using Seasons of Skyrim for a while I think. first time I have downgraded my ENB DLL's for a preset...but well worth it. -
That's what made the issue so hard to nail down, not everyone had the identified SafetyLoad/SkyUI Inventory/Menu related CTD's...the problem was just getting some much needed collaborative efforts (Boris was going to look into it) to fix when Sheson's Patch crashed onto the scene. Understandably, this was a game changer. It eliminated my stuck loading issues, but unfortunately I crashed a lot when looting and doing merchant trades. I even stopped using SkyUI for a while...but I found that unbearable, TBH. Of course, we were all so conditioned to hit save before any and every action in those "bad" old Pre-Sheson days...

Random Whiterun CTD and Stability.

Are you using SSME/Sheson and ENB by any chance? (TBH, I assume that you are, but it's always dangerous to assume.) -

Stealth Skills Rebalanced_COMPLETE.esp <--reportedly the cause of the "Iron Helm" at character creation. I'm leaning toward the idea that you are having papyrus/script related crashes based on the type of mods you have installed. -
I switched from AFT to EFF (non-Beta) and have no regrets. I have had little to no issues with followers with EFF, I tended to have more compatibility/glitches with AFT. /just my two cents

Kuldebar replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Yeah, that was me, but it looks like we are in the minority at least based on what CJ has seen and heard from many other users. Since I don't run a STEP approved mod build, it's entirely possible the issue was caused by that. I have since just started using the latest ETAC as released by Missjennabee but haven't tested it out with followers in tow yet. -

Spent the last couple of hours downloading and testing out some of the Whiterun mods. They all fall short for different reasons: -some just add foliage...which is fine but not enough, IMO -some are just atrocious, buildings added haphazardly, navmesh deletions, etc. -some crowd Breezehome exterior overly much conflicting with house mods -some are beautiful but technically flawed and/or performance nightmares ( ETK The Streets Of Whiterun by ETK ) As it stands, Dawn of Whiterun is the best out of the bunch...I'm slapping it back into my build. -

I don't want to give any impression that Dawn of Whiterun is broken. I just don't like the clutter treatment and FPS issue that hits you after entering the city near the gate looking toward the Bannered Mare. -

I'm looking into this mod as a replacement in my playthrough: Whiterun Complete by Nofumasa I'm downloading it now...going to check it out in TessEdit and a test game. EDIT/UPDATE: Meh...needed cleaned, had ITMs and UDR's. Some elements had minor clipping with vanilla objects (the dragon headed gateway inside the entrance. The mod offers nothing desirably striking to the city, IMO. :/ -

I read this three times before...hahaha! :p I haven't run enough games without the mod installed to be certain of its performance impact but I do wish the mod author would tighten up some the things in the mod (like the clutter litter mess, and possible streamlining of some design implementations). -I love the goats in the street and the livestock pens -the vendors are alright (but some are very crowded in their placement and their loose goods become ground litter) -I think the entrance Trading Company location is wonderful -
Over many builds these problems have cropped up, they don't always manifest within a particular game but when they do, they seem to be endemic to a particular play through. Most people will admit to have suffered from one or both of these glitches at least once or twice: Louis Letrush: Showing up in front of Whiterun Stables (very common) or some players having multiple LL appearances throughout the game world, etc. I have only had this happen once and never again, but I attribute the non-reoccurrence from my fervent refusal to ever do the quest for Louis Letrush in Riften Bee & Barb again. Yes, the horse was nice, but not worth the oddity of having Letrush stay on an eternal vigil outside the Stables... Dragon Corpse at Player Spawn: This issue happens fairly often in my games. The dead dragon will magically be teleported to where the player enters the zone via a load screen. Leaving any of the city gates, for instance, may result in a dragon skeleton (from a dragon killed in that worldspace region) landing in all its havocked glory on or near the player. None of these issues are game breaking...but somewhat immersion breaking. They transcend the spectrum of mod usage variants or having the latest Unofficial Patches. And, to my knowledge, they've never been fully resolved.

Well, SafetyLoad was the most effective tool for reducing the occurrence "stuck load screens" but a growing number of reports concerned frequent CTD's associated with game menu, looting or inventory related actions when using SkyUI. The mod author posted on the issue and last I had read it was never resolved only confirmed as an outstanding issue. Work and discussion on SafetyLoad largely declined after the introduction of the Sheson Memory Patch which essentially made SafetyLoad obsolete, if not simply redundant. I have never had ILS issue since dropping SafetyLoad (as Sheson initially recommended from day one) and using properly configured SSME and properly configured ENBlocal.ini...
-
Exactly, but Vividian (for me) presented the same FPS issues...so Undramatic ENB for me...it isn't cheap either, but very effective. :)
-
Don't run any AA with ENB running...transparency issues are but one of many issues that will arise.

It's simply a lod mesh issue that is more noticeable in certain lighting/enb situations. It can't be fully eliminated, only mitigated via HQ LOD Mesh "fixes" or cover-ups. This issue is far more prevalent for people who don't utilize a well constructed ENB Prest or DoF or fog elements in their Skyrim builds. Outside of running at a higher than default uGrids, I don't think the lod mesh seam will ever go away for you. Some textures/lighting/ENB/etc will make the seam much more or less noticeable. The Hi-Res Mesh replacer that Ethatron makes will make the "line" less noticeable but it still doesn't erase it because the game engine has to handle a transition between LOD mesh/textures at some point...and it is never perfect. Upping uGrids brings on a whole slew of other challenges but it would move the lod transition further into the distance...therefore far less observable. The same exact issue occurs with the Sky Mesh but there is no one perfect solution for that either because it is wholly dependent on lighting and other factors. The Sky Horizon Mesh "Fix" actually makes it worse on my system, so I don't use it. For others, it helps alleviate the eye-sore of a skyline break.
