Marked as accepted. Inclusion in Core to be determined.

I'm leaning towards the WD Black. Most of what I've read online in many many different forums and reviews are saying "they're about the same, but go with the Black".
-
I split this to continue the discussion on a public board and updated the OP with more information.

The funny thing is I'm currently running on an old 250GB WD Caviar that I've have for about 5-6 years. It's still going strong! WD used to be the top brand but they have just lost all my faith that I had in them. I've never owned a Seagate but I will soon... This hard drive situation has simply been a nightmare! I've had this system for over a month and it's still having to run on this tiny (but strong) Caviar drive. Three RMAs in a row is extremely poor quality control.

So it worked great for a while but just took a **** and now the computer will not recognize it. Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase a Western Digital Blue. They are completely crap hard drives. This is my third one and all three have failed within the first couple hours of testing. Will be getting a full refund. Now time to talk to Newegg support for my free RMA. Edit: RMA issued and the expensive paper weight will be sent back on Monday free of charge (one reason I like dealing with Newegg). Time to find a better brand... Looking at Seagate. So as some of you know, I've been having a terribly time with finding a HDD that works. I've been through three Western Digital Blues on a new build. The first one would connect intermittently, the second one would connect but refused to format (and failed WD's Data Lifeguard tool) and the third one failed after a couple hours of use. I had gotten Windows 8.1 up and running and it crashed while I was transferring some backup files to it. Now neither BIOS or Windows will recognize it. All three I have RMA'ed and the third I'm receiving a refund instead of a replacement. I'm obviously sick of getting burned by these drives; however, I need a new HDD. I'm currently looking at two: a Western Digital Black and a Seagate Barracuda What are your experience with these or other brands? What would you recommend?

We need to light a fire under s4n to get this up!

DROPPED WATER - Water And Terrain Enhancement Redux (by SparrowPrince)
TechAngel85 replied to Asimov's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Doesn't look like anything "major" but rather mainly things dealing with effects. -
Just a slight learning curve to understand how some things work. Nothing demotivating. (of course I could be confusing it with Dropbox...I haven't used either in so long I can't remember.)

Google Drive works if you can get used to it.

I think if I had a mod it would be open modification but not open distributable. I would allow users to openly modify and enhance my original work; however, they would not be allowed to distribute it. I would require them to provide me with their modified version to which I would upload on my page as a new version release of the mod; giving the author of the modifications credit as a co-author/contributor. This way I would still have control over the distribution but my mod would also benefit from the cathedral view. This would also allow me to maintain my original idea/direction of the mod without having someone troll by creating an undesirable modification. If I ever decided to retire from the mod, I would at that time give the top contributor to my mod the option of taking it on as the leader of the project from that point forward; as long as they maintained the original concept of the mod. If they did not want the lead, then I would convert the mod to being both open modification and open distributable so that other users that desire to carry on the work of the mod, may do so.

I considered taking a few more shots in differently locations but decided it wouldn't help. That is vanilla lighting and their going to look "blah" no matter the location/time of day. Several have posted about issues and it may be that I'm experiencing those issues as well. @Kuldebar, Would you mind posting a few shots of how they look in your game (vanilla lighting please) for a comparison?

Wow... This. Agree wholeheartedly! I think someone should invite DarkOne over here. It would be nice if they altered their rules for "dead mods"; turning them into cathedral works after the author has be absent for X amount of time...say 1 year without any from of update/notice/page edits with an email being sent to said authors as a courtesy that their mod will be converted within X days unless they do X. As it stands now with their parlor views, the dead mods are just unfortunate losses. I'm not sure this needs any editing, Z. ::

Is there a way to make these case sensitive? "Taking a step in the right direction" and "STEP has a great following"

ACCEPTED Lanterns of Skyrim - All In One (by MannyGT)

The info was gathered from the Proposal which hasn't seemed to get much attention as I've updated several things on it without any replies. -
ACCEPTED Lanterns of Skyrim - All In One (by MannyGT)
TechAngel85 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This is the reply I sent DoYouEvenModBro: With 2.2.9 Extended is being re-evaluated completely; thus, any mod in Extended could possibly be dropped. I will not discuss them all; however, since I brought this up in a thread in response to a possible conflict, I will say that is mod will most likely be one that is dropped. The main reason being is that we feel it adds too much to the game overall. We enjoy the extra lanterns in and round the towns but having them line every single road is a bit excessive and unrealistic when you think about what it would take to maintain these lanterns (even with the Caretakers mod). We're considering asking the author for a version that only includes towns and the outskirts of these town, but we're not getting our hopes up for that. -
No it isn't. The topic of this thread is Hearthfire Chimneys for Skyrim. My response was to a possible conflict between this mod and Lanterns of Skyrim. DoYouEvenModBro asked a question entirely off topic which had nothing to do with this mod but rather with Lanterns of Skyrim being dropped. Thus, off topic because we are not discussing mods that might be dropped from Extended in this thread. This matter is closed. Further discussion will result in warnings. Back to the topic of this thread, please.

Stay on topic please and PM users for things like this. Thanks.

Lanterns is most likely going away so we should be good.

ACCEPTED Gemling Queen Dragon Claws (by Saerileth)
TechAngel85 replied to Noobsayer's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I agree. This mod takes the cake in all shots. Good job on getting the compares up and posted before this got into testing. This is what I'd like to see happen with most threads. If someone advocates it, then they should be also will to do the work needed to get it up for testing. Great job! -
Screens: Current STEP (Chimneys for Skyrim) >> Hearthfire Chimneys for Skyrim This is really a no-brainer, IMO. Hearthfire Chimneys for Skyrim covers more locations, matches the textures and look more authentic than current STEP. Should be an easy "accepted" and replacement for current STEP. This should also be in Core unless it will cause conflicts. It is a fix to vanilla buildings that have fireplaces but no chimneys which without would cause the interior to fill with smoke.
-
Marked for testing. Will replace the currently included Chimney's for Skyrim if accepted.

Make sure that mod has it's own thread and promote it there. Not here. -

SKYRIMLE Ancient Falmer Armor Overhaul by BetrayalSeeker

So far there's not much support for this so unless enough rejects in the next 48hrs, Z's, my own and a few other votes will carry this out to be removed from testing. -
DROPPED Skyrim Flora Overhaul (by vurt)
TechAngel85 replied to JudgmentJay's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The reason for the Basic version being STEP's choice is because it stays true to Vanilla and doesn't add anything extra that's not in the vanilla game. This allows us to put SFO in Core. Vurt is a top-notch modder so the extra stuff added will not conflict with anything unless another mod places an object in the same space that Vurt has placed new content. I don't know of anything that does this off the top of my head. All-in-all, you'll be fine installing either. But as EssArrBee said, you can make multiple profiles in MO. I personally have a Vanilla profile, a STEP Core profile, a STEP Extended profile and then a personal profile that has extra mods not included in STEP.
