  1. A plugin is something the guys that were writing the STEP Installer could probably do. They seemed to know what they were doing and I'm sure Tannin would be happy to help them out seeing that no one has taken advantage of the plugin feature of MO by actually writing a useful plugin. It would be cool if STEP was one of the first to do something like an installer to show off the flexibility and power of MO...might just get some heads turning and get some more talented people working on MO features. I would love it if MO could one day help mod games that aren't necessarily built to be easily modded like XCOM, Mass Effect, etc. TexMod is horrible and causes frequent instability in some of these games. But that's a whole different ballgame!
  2. A quick Google search will get you what you need. These were in the first 5 results: https://www.jssor.com/ https://www.vandelaydesign.com/jquery-image-galleries/ https://www.hongkiat.com/blog/jquery-image-galleries-sliders-best-of/
  3. Mod page updated for v3.0.
  4. I didn't think there were that many Meta Rules in the Guide to begin with.
  5. Thanks for the heads up. Will have to check it out.
  6. No, I follow you. That makes sense.
  7. Those were among the reasons as well as added stress to the servers because we are one of the largest Skyrim communities and are starting to branch out into other games as users are taking up those roles and building STEP-like guides for those games (Fear and Loathing for FNV, Mystic Dawn for Oblivion, Clear and Present Danger for FO3, and more are sure to come). So with that in mind, I can understand Dark0ne's concerns with such a tool. However, the tool's main objective was to install sort of an "image" of a properly configured STEP onto the user's computer which is more of what you're talking about. If I remember correctly the this would have worked in one of two ways: Take an image of a properly configured STEP and basically copy that image onto the user's computer. They start up Skyrim, STEP enhanced style. or User downloads all mods, puts them into a single directory and with the use of black magic, the tool would run and configure a proper STEP image and install it for the user. The first was ruled out due to the Dark0ne's concerns. The second never made it into practice, but both would accomplish what you are talking about. No modding experience required. Just download mods and run the tool. It can all be found in this forum: https://forum.step-project.com/forum/34-semi-automatic-step/ EDIT: Here's the actual word on the downloading of mods from Nexus: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/1248-skyrim-nexus-downloader/?p=21669 Here is the wiki page for the project: https://wiki.step-project.com/SASTEP To be honest, I'm not sure why development stopped.
  8. In regards to this: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/5439-step-v229-official-bug-reports/?p=104319 Your dragon priest masks might not fully work until the WAF patch is updated to be compatible with the changes in the newest ICH. You'll probably just get the vanilla masks without the closed-faced helmets improvements until then. kryptopyr was suppose to be working on it but that's been a good while now without any news. It's easy enough to make a patch though or add the fix to the STEP patches if we have to. You are welcome and I have been playing XCOM lately...
  9. Discussion thread: Pure Waters - Waterfalls by Laast I don't post mods very often, but when I do I think they're either really worth adding or really worth keeping an eye on. This one falls into the latter category. I haven't tested out in-game, but from what I'm seeing this is the most realistic and natural looking waterfall mod as of yet. It changes the meshes mainly and they fit far better into the flows of the rivers. I've always thought the waterfalls look as if they were pumping out far too much water for the flow that you see below them. Basically the vanilla-type waterfalls look as though they're flowing flood waters while the rivers below them look normal and the flow of them aren't that great compared to the volume of the waterfalls which feed them. Pure Waters - Waterfalls seems to have agreed with this view and reduced them to be more natural. One thing to note, this is only the first release so only two waterfalls are covered and this is not currently compatible with STEP due to SkyFall & SkyMills. Laast said he will try to look into compatibility patches but I wouldn't expect them until more of the waterfalls are covered by the mod. So for now, this mod is just definitely one to keep an eye on. I've already tracked it on Nexus for myself. Video Overview by Hodilton:
  10. Let me put one little aspect of this discussion to rest that keeps popping up and that's the automatic downloading of mods. We've discussed this before at length in the discussion of the STEP Installer program that has been developed, left to sit, developed some more, and basically abandoned. The fact of the matter is, Nexus, specifically Dark0ne, does not want us to develop and use any tool that would pull and download mods directly from Nexus. The reasons are many; however, in the end we're going to respect those words and wishes. There will most likely never be a tool of any kind to directly download any mods in STEP without having to visit its Nexus page. This is an idea that is nearly as old as STEP itself and has been well discussed, but let us put it to rest. It's just not going to happen.
  11. Probably not. Would require going through the Guide again, step by step, to see if the instructions mesh correctly. I'd say moving these meta rules in one location in the Patches section would fix it though. How we have it now, mod by mod, is not very intuitive. Grouping them together in one location and handling after all mods are installed makes more sense.
  12. Okay, so I just stumbled across this and it had be laughing so hard I had to share it!
  13. Cool. Just let me know what you come up with. No one has worked on it in a while because of the holidays. (and my getting addicted to XCOM which is taking up quite a bit of my free time)
  14. Thank you! Much better! I can live with these changes. All my years of designing websites and then getting some proper schooling on the subject...the wiki was just "grinding my gears" and really bothered me with its use of whitespace and some hierarchical elements. This is very much improved! Good work! For once, I don't have any critics or complaints...until I run into some other oddly designed element....
  15. A group of developers are already bringing all the provinces of Tamriel into the Skyrim engine. It's called Beyond Skyrim if you haven't heard of it. Once finished, it'll be pretty much an entirely new game. https://www.darkcreations.org/forums/topic/6814-all-about-beyond-skyrim/ Another group is bringing Morrowind into the Skyrim engine as well. That one is called Skywind: https://tesrenewal.com/skywind-faq It's not released yet, but if you have Oblivion, they're already ported Morrowind into the Oblivion engine: https://tesrenewal.com/
  16. Mystery Modder and Skunk (same person I think) had their account removed Nexus for unknown reasons. Theses mod will be dropped from STEP since they're no longer available. Any alternative suggests will be appreciated. Just post the alternative in the mod thread for that mod. These mods will not affect the Patches.
  17. Awesome! Going to have to remember to grab the update when I finally get back to playing Skyrim. With the ENBSeries INI Guide, I have been playing really being the ENB I'm using is JawZ's. Need to get back to working on that Guide, but it's the holidays. It can wait. I've recently become addicted to XCOM so it's been sucking up most my free time.
  18. I wouldn't get either. If it doesn't work out of the box just RMA it. If you talk with customer service with Newegg, they'll usually waive the shipping cost and eat it themselves if you're nice about it. Just tell them you don't think it makes any since to have to pay more for a product that doesn't work just to get what you paid for and they'll usually waive it and email you a shipping label. They did it for me multiple time on a hard drive. If it breaks later on and didn't void the warranty by doing something you shouldn't have been doing, the just deal with the manufacture. Most are pleasant. Western Digital is so easy its like a dream. Everything is handled on they're website. No need to even talk to anyone. Accidental warranty would cover accidents like spills, drops, etc. Extended is just like the manufacture's warranty but just extended for a few years past when the manufacture warranty expires.
  19. Actually, we are working on a compilation of mods with mod author permissions to reduce the workload. So, you're right...something is in the works, but it's going to be a while yet. We mainly have the list of mods that can be combined; however, combining them properly so that resource conflicts with other mods in STEP but not in the compilation is the tricky part. Placement in the install order will be key to such a thing working properly. If all works out, we'll hopefully reduce the mod list by 15-20 mods or so.
  20. It doesn't combine any meshes. The only meshes it provides are feet and footwear meshes.
  21. Thanks for the feedback. Not understanding the disappointment, though, when you knew what STEP is and what it's about. Can't make an apple into an orange. We are well aware of the time it takes to install STEP. Nothing can be done about it. Experienced modders with a good internet connection and who are familiar with the tools can install it in one day. I've done it in ~4hrs before and about 2/3 of that is downloading mods. STEP:Core (just the mods marked green) will get you a base game that is "fixed" and that shouldn't have hardly any compatibility issues. It's a great foundation on which to build a personalized setup upon. STEP:Extended (the full Guide) is more of our vision for the game and may not be for everyone. Mod in Extended don't necessary have to fit the vanilla game as long as they make sense and don't cause issues; therefore, it includes several mods that may conflict with other mods. Player Headtracking was in testing to be included in STEP at one point, but it caused some CTD on loading save games so it never made the cut: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/724-player-headtracking/
  22. Make sure you have the security settings set up properly for your Skyrim directory (assuming that is where you installed MO): https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_Installation#Security_Settings
  23. Z, is messing with the CSS. He's got the ENB Guide looking all funky right now. @Z, That Code element should not look exactaly like the Preformatted text element. No idea why you're making it like that. It works for now, just looks odd when you have them close together on a page.
  24. I forgot to mention that is second process during downloading mods is normal.
  25. Looks like someone has simply changed the default CSS. Z mentioned he was look into some changes.
