I'm glad you guys are doing this. This mod comes into question a lot and we've every had any issues with it. It'll be good to know whether or not this mod needs to be dropped or if there is nothing wrong with it besides maybe a few sounds not playing.

No, this doesn't include the STEP Female Overhaul. Just the body that it'll be using. The STEP install option does not include the body.- 307 replies

I would test the performance of every AA method, but I'm afraid my results would be rather bland due to my system. I'd not likely see any loss of performance for most of the AA methods until I got up to the higher settings. Someone with a more mid-range system would need to do that testing.

DROPPED Skyrim HD - 2K Textures (by NebuLa)
TechAngel85 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Version 1.7 is out. It's perfectly safe to update to this version. Dragonborn DLC landscapes have been added. These have not been tested yet. -
The only place SMAA is recommended is on the ENB Guide where ENBs are involved and MSAA can't be used. I personally use it combined with ENBSeries's EdgeAA instead of the game's MSAA and have no issues nor any jaggies. Still run 50-60FPS in all places as long as the a preset isn't active.

This will be subjective because you have a loss of detail anytime FXAA is used. This is because of how FXAA renders. Like MSAA, it applies the AA to the all the pixels on the screen, not just the edges. However, it does not analyze any of the models like MSAA would. FXAA only computes from the pixels, themselves, and the result is often this "blur" everyone is seeing. There's a reason it's called Fast "approXimate" Anti-Aliasing. :: Some users like this "blur" effect because it gives the game a softer feel, but others dislike it. This effect can sometimes be corrected with sharpening from an ENB. FXAA is lighter on system resources by taking very little processing power to compute, meaning it would be better for those that are on low-end systems or those wanting better performance than they get with MSAA. Still, I would recommend those low-end users try SMAA before recommending FXAA. My 2 cents.

SKYRIMLE Immersive Jewelry (by Forteverum)
TechAngel85 replied to brokenpaine's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
There are a lot of mods that do similar things...adds/changes something that has nothing to do with the mod's content. Take the player home, Jaggarsfeld, for example. While creating my extension mod for it, I discovered a ton of edits to things that have nothing to do with the mod itself, like edits to worldspaces which are not in the slightest bit connected to the mod in any way. I chalk most of these things up to newbie mistakes that just never got fixed. I think this one is intentional though because the author changes the way some crafting items work, like the ingots. I'm sure the weighted money stemmed from those changes to keep it consistent. For example, you take 200 gold that weighs nothing to make a gold ingot that weights 20lbs...where did the weight come from? So for consistency, you make the gold coins weigh 0.1lb each which would equal the weight of the gold ingot. Law of even exchange. Disclaimer: The example above is purely speculative and those numbers are purely for the example given. I have no idea the weights this mod adds nor the reason for them. -

Thanks, I'll try to take care of this when I get home from work if one of the other Staff doesn't beat me to it. -
I think you were gone before I really started getting involved, but it's nice to have you back. I'm also waiting for the day that Monty and Farlo return.

Reading through some of those comments it looks like the best solution is to "move to Mod Organizer". Half those comments are just users saying something along those lines.

I've gone through this Guide and updated it: Replaced some "fancy" wording to make it easier to read and understand for non-native English speakersUpdated Installation sectionUpdated all recommended preset descriptions to ensure they're still accurateReplaced Seasons of Skyrim with Tundra ENB since it is more up-to-date (user suggests are welcomed here)Updated complimentary ENB mods and removed one very old ENB manager software as a recommendationUpdated Troubleshooting section (need AMD user to test to see if AMD related information is still accurate)Updated a few linksUpdated a lot of the text to use proper wiki code.

Everyone knows Steam Workshop is a sub-par system and the community there is seriously lacking any maturity (for the most part).

This is for vanilla. Looks like you're running something that is not vanilla. This is likely not compatible with ETaC or other city overhauls.- 307 replies

This one really should be dropped. I've never experienced any issues myself, that I know of. I don't think it'll be missed, though.
-
That would be a godsend to some users. Users have been asking for an automated STEP process/tool for as long as I can remember. We even had a few people working on a program that would do it; however, Dark0ne shut it down when he said he didn't want mods being automatically downloaded from their servers. If he's changed his tune, maybe the crowd will eventually get what they want.
-
All good points! I'm really interested to see how they do this. What possibilities do you have in mind if they open up automatic downloads?
-
Most these tools I envision still being the manual work part of it. As for updates breaking things, that is a possibility if the original author of the shared profile hasn't updated the profile accordingly. This is no different than mod updates breaking other mods which now require a patch or something re-worked for compatibility. Things like that always get fixed eventually.

Yes, it simply has ELE removed. The rest remains the same. -

This is happening in the next release; however, for now you can download a No-ELE version here: https://copy.com/GMjexBQOeAxFmpjv -
wanted Wiki Header and Text Whitespace
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's question in Wiki Support
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed this! I thought I was being anal, but it really is hard to separate information on our wiki Guides when you have the entire browser full of text. Things start running together. -
I know we changed this a while back and it looked good with the header tabs, but now that we're not using them anymore, this needs a revisit. I'd like to see more whitespace applied above the headers. Currently is seems like all headers have the same or about the same amount of whitespace above them. This is not good for readability and separation of information! Each header should have a custom amount of whitespace for it (usually a top margin rather than padding) for readability and flow of information. As I work on the ENB Guide, this has become more and more an apparent issue. Lets visualize! Can you tell me what information belongs to what in this example? Where does the main header start and what information belongs to that header? The answer to that is "no". You have no idea what belongs to what because the spacing is the same. Now again: Is that better? Most likely, you said "yes". There is now a separation of the headers and the information. It's easily understandable at a glance what information belongs to which headers even though you can't read anything. Now go look at the ENB Guide and tell which example we have. The only indication of what belongs to what on that our Guides are the size of the headers and that's all. Yes, the spacing is a bit different, but it's so subtle that it's barely noticable. If you think I'm nuts, just Google "Web design and whitespace" and be flooded with articles all saying the same thing about whitespace: https://uxmyths.com/post/2059998441/myth-28-white-space-is-wasted-space https://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/using-white-space-or-negative-space-in-your-designs--webdesign-3401 https://www.seguetech.com/blog/2013/03/20/why-whitespace-important-web-design https://blog.teamtreehouse.com/white-space-in-web-design-what-it-is-and-why-you-should-use-it Solution? First read this: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/08/typographic-design-survey-best-practices-from-the-best-blogs/ It's very informative and accurate, imo. Did you notice how easy it was to read and scan or was it so easy that you missed it? The main headers on the pages, which for us that is Header 2, should have the largest top margin (whitespace). Header 3 should be smaller, header 4 smaller yet, header 5 is usually around your text size so no need to edit that one. For example, we could use Header 2 - top margin=40pxHeader 3 - top margin=30pxHeader 4 - top margin=20pxI'm sure you can come up with something that looks nice, but is more readable than it is now. Now...I need coffee!
