Patch ESPs for BashPatch-merged files
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well, BOSS does not recognise UFOtweaks.esp, I need to sort it manually. I wasn't asking about MoveItLWT.esp. This file is recognised by BOSS. I asked: -
I use Move it Dammit as per STEP, but I also use UFO. Move It has a UFO patch (UFOtweaks.esp) that obviously needs to be loaded after the two mods. Now, Wrye Bash merges MoveItLWT.esp into the Bashed Patch.esp. So do I need to place UFOtweaks.esp after Bashed Patch or after the (now unchecked) MoveItLWT.esp (and hence before Bashed Patch.esp)? And, respectively, what would the procedure be for any other mods that are merged into the Bashed Patch, but have additional patches that need to be loaded after the original ESPs? Thanks

Hahahah, brilliant! Just use this. It has lost of insects in it :D

I take your points, techangel - and again going to mention this is really the matter of personal preference and the way you play and perceive your game :) For me - this mod was making alchemy way too easy and I didn't like the fact that I always had backpack full of potions. This seemed like an exploit to me which I couldn't really control, as I have a habit of harvesting nearly everything I see (goes back to morrowind and oblivion :D), thus the vanilla system works better for me. I respect your points, as I've said, I have no survival skills (quite the opposite actually), I never hunted in my life, in fact I am a vegetarian for 18 years now, ha! So, if you like it, use it - if not - don't, simple as that :) However, I would still argue that it unbalances the game - make lots of potions easily, level you alch fast, sell potions to get rich fast, and level you speech while doing this. Seems a bit of an overkill to me, just for the sake of realism when harvesting flowers. Unless you're not going to exploit it by for example throwing the extra flowers and potions away, but whats the point...? Anyway, to be honest also, this discussion seems a little bit overkill as well, just over this one mod. Maybe easier way would be to make a poll for it, I don't know, for Mod Testers only or something like that? Is the matter of including or not including this mod in STEP really worth such an extensive and in depth discussion?

Gentlemen, as I stated before, the game is as much fun as you make it. Ars Metallica and harvest overhaul give you possibility of exploit. Whether you are going to use this exploit and ruin your own game taking fun out of it is up to you really :) Although purely from step mandate perspective both should be removed in my opinion. I've explained it here: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1791&pid=26154#pid26154

I think it all depends on how you look at it. I have stopped using Harvest Overhaul purely for the reason that when I count all the factors, it actually breaks my immersion more than it adds to it. Purely from STEP mandate perspective - I think you're right. Neither HO nor AM should be part of base STEP set up.
-
I use Realistic Wildlife Loot And Recipes for wild life loot - however I've never tested Harvest Overhaul's wild life part...

I understand your concern about it possible leveling up alchemy faster do to the greater harvest but it would be no different if you went and searched for hours collecting the stuff. This possibly just makes alchemy "easier" to level up. In my opinion, this mod corrects a faulty system in the game. When you look at the snowberry bush and see 20 snowberries on it but only harvest 1 or 2 berries...that is faulty and completely unrealistic. The same can be said for flowers and many other harvest-able items in-game. It corrects the realism of the harvesting feature, so...from my point of view it does enhance/fix a vanilla aspect of the game. If you harvest something (by the very definition of the word) it should never be zero. Same goes for creatures. Take a sabertooth kitty. In vanilla sometimes you get an eye and sometimes you don't... why? They all have two eyes don't they? So you should always be able to get at least one eye when you harvest. Harvest Overhaul corrects this. It's one of those things that is just glaringly obvious to me that some may never even thing about. I used this mod in the past, however I did find that it made levelling alchemy not easier, but way too easy, so I ditched it. I  agree it adds to immersion, however, just to answer some of your points, Techangel - say you fight a sabrecat and you slash it across it's eyes. It's dead, but there are no eyes to "harvest" - that's why sometimes there are no eyes to take. And sometimes you would like to harvest a plant, but it turns out it's rotten or sick and the flowers cannot be used in a potion. Realism and immersion, right? Of course it's the matter of personal preference. I like to properly role play my characters, but I also like my game to be balanced, so rather than doing this: which I find is reverting to vanilla skyrim system but in a more complex way (harvest 1 plant & level at normal pace vs. harvest more plants and level at slower pace - it's the same thing really...), I just treat the harvested stuff as "portions", rather than the actual "counted" item. So when I harvest a plant, I get a "portion" of flowers necessary to craft a potion. When I harvest a snowberry, I get a "handful" of them. Also, think about it this way - with Harvest Overhaul you go to a bush and harvest 10 snowberries out of it. Yay! Great, realistic! Now you take one, ONE TINY SNOWBERRY, shove it in your mouth and you suddenly feel very weak - yay! Damage Stamina effect discovered. Hang on, you've just eaten ONE TINY SNOWBERRY and suddenly you realised it makes you feel very tired? Erm... Not so realistic, yes? But if you treat it as a "portion" (say, handful) it suddenly makes sense. You harvest a handful of snowberries, you eat them all and, yes, that MAY make you actually feel a weakened negative or positive effect. The game is as much fun, as YOU make it. It may work for some, it may not for others :) I ditched this mod and I don't use it anymore, this works just fine for me. ::EDIT:: Now, when I think of it, it makes even more sense NOT to use it and do the "portions" approach. You make a potion, and you put ONE TINY SNOWBERRY (sorry, this just seems the most apparent example, as they indeed are only small berries) in the bottle to achieve the desired effect? Surely you should put more than that for the ingredient to have any noticeable effect on the potion?

The BOSSgui.exe doesn't throw any errors, neither it launches log to the browser. PS, is there any folder where I could drop mods ( like Bash Installers), so MO would Install them automagically? PPS, Does MO keeps downloaded archives somewhere? If yes, where? The quote indicates that there is a log created in your D:\Games\BOSS\Skyrim\ folder. Open the BOSSlog.html file and see what it is and if it has any errors logged. If it's clean, I wouldn't worry about it. As for the folders - you can specify them in options, there are two - downloads and install folders. When you manually drop any archive (7z, rar etc.) into the specified downloads folder, it will appear in the MO's Downloads tab in the left pane. You can then install it by double clicking. You can also install mods from outside of downloads folder by using appropriate button in the right hand pane. Regardless of installation method MO will create a separate folder for each installed mod in the specified installation folder.

DROPPED Unique Region Names (by Thingy Person)
rootsrat replied to blacksol's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hm, I have bit of a problem - the new version of this mod has 4 ESPs - main and 3 compatibility patches for RLO, CoT and RCRN. As per the mod description: I've also found in comments that you should install main ESP + patch ESP. Now, I'm using RLO lighting + CoT weathers. Can anyone suggest if I should use both RLO and CoT patches or just CoT? I'm bit puzzled... -
I was just going to add this one :) Going to test today.

ACCEPTED Improved Horse Step Sounds (by Crystan)

Bump. I think it's worth testing, so just setting kind of a reminder for myself to do that :) -
I registered and upon selecting "Add Issue" the below appeared. Are there any requirements to be met before I can submit one? If so, can someone that already has the ability to submit issues do it for me please? Thanks ::EDIT:: Ignore me, cookies needed resetting :P ::EDIT2:: Submitted now.

Update: I believe I've found the cause of the issue. It is the vanilla radiant quest: Kill Bandit Leader that was given to my char in Windhelm by Brunwulf Free-Winter. Tested throughout - took me a while, I was gradually increasing number of mods I used originally, each time creating a new character and testing the existing one. As I have SkyRe installed, I could only start testing existing character after I installed SkyRe mod - but I got a CTD at first attempt of loading my Lost Knife Hideout saved game with that character. When testing with new character, that had no the radiant quest in their log I was able to get in and fight the inhabiting bandits with no problems. With a full set of mods I've had installed when I first encountered the issue, the scenario repeated - I was able to create a new character and wander into Lost Kinfe Hideout without any CTDs. The only difference at that point was the radiant quest in my original character's journal. My Skyrim was perfectly fine all this time... Lost half of the day to figure this out! :@

Hm... I'm just finishing re-installing STEP (in MO, so easy :) ) - I'm then going to create a fresh character and test that location, followed by gradual installation of SkyRe and the rest of the mods I've used... Hard work, but hopefully I'll figure it out...
-
So, I have a full STEP 2.2.1 + SkyRe + Realistic Needs & Diseases + Automatic Variants + SkyTEST and a few other mods (mainly weaps and armors + dynamic timescale + RLO & COT weathers + SkyRealism ENB) installed. I am getting a CTD in Lost Knife Hideout (quest is to kill bandit leader). Right after I enter, I encounter 2 bandits. When I shoot them with a bow, right after the arrow hits, I get CTD. When I run over to them - CTD. 1 time out of 3 the arrow hit ok and they started searching for me. When they got close, I got CTD. Not sure what may be causing this... Any suggestions? I'm totally lost. Here's my load order:

The one from WATER was already investigated and it doesn't fix it. There is a thread by myself in Support/Troubleshooting section on forums (can't link it, I'm on the phone), check it out. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 -
Realistic Running Speed vs T3nd0s Skyrim Redone
rootsrat posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hi guys. Can anyone confirm if Realistic Running Speed is compatible with T3nd0s Skyrim Redone? If so, what would the load order be? Thanks! -
Any FPS or simulator really would be awesome on this... Silent Hunter, yes!
