  1. I'm in the process of updating I have another month or so left of break, so I hope I can get it done. I've had to spend the last month not doing much due to broken AC units wit horrible, horrible outside heat and humidity so no gaming or computer use (110-120F or 43-49C for you metric lovers with 85-95% humidity) storms and electrical issues, power outages, as well as helping my mom out which has all combined to annoy me as I had planned on two months break (for gaming and stress relief) and a parts upgrade for my desktop >V<.
  2. Also I wouldn't go any lower than 16GB of RAM trust me that extra 8GB helps a ton, heck even 12GB would be good. Depending on how hot it gets there you may want to consider an aftermarket cooler. IDK how much the CoolerMaster 212 EVO is in AU but it's one of the less fiddly ones to get on and cools well. Just something to consider once you crunch all the numbers and see what you have.
  3. Not worth it imo, SO NOT WORTH IT. You're probably not going to notice much of a speed difference. Or if you do you'd only notice a little bit (and only if you already have an SSD) but it's so not worth adding $200 to the price imo. Going from HDD's to SSD is night and day as it is. Remember you said you need to be money conscious. I have a few more options that might be of interest. I have the hard drives all in there so you'll probably want to remove one or something (I'd take the 2TB drive off personally). https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/phazer11/saved/#view=C3nhP6
  4. You could just skip it...
  5. Don't forget to make sure your case can fit your graphics card. This is VERY IMPORTANT as most mid towers won't be able to fit the big cards. I use a 240GB SSD for OS, and games but then again I got my two 240GB SSD's (one for my laptop and one for my desktop) for a song in 2013 ($340 for both) Now I could get 2 500GB for ~$500. If you can find the 3TB version of the HDD I linked you for decent price I highly recommend it. After doing my own research and asking some questions on some overclocking and pc part forums those 3TB drives are the most reliable and inexpensive drives around (info might be a little dated this was around the beginning of the year before the new WD RED drives released). I bought 2 for $200.
  6. I'll say this seagate's are crap these days often dont last even 2 years. Not sure that case has enough space to fit that gpu. PSU is a great choice I'd have to check to see how much juice you'd need for a crossfire of those cards. Didn't pick a case, optical drive or really decide on the monitor several of the ones I'd choose don't seem to be carried in AU. The PSU I listed in this one is solid, and higher efficiency, as well as a higher wattage it's only semi modular. If you don't like that go with that EVGA. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/nkqzrH
  7. Well if you have a little bit more to spend you'll definitely want to spend it on a more energy efficient and rated PSU. The one I linked in my build is a good psu you'll probably want a slightly higher one for the 980 especially if you plan on SLi down the road. I was basing the BenQ monitor on your price range and a few reviews that said for the price it was a decent monitor (Linus Tech Tips has one you can look up easy) but you may want one with a little more umph. I'll see what I can do in between storms and try to keep the price down.
  8. I'm still working on it (damn AU prices!). https://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/9Qvt23
  9. Don't know who that video is by. Anyways... you should get improved framerates with SLi in skyrim not less, there are a few graphical bugs like with water but I hear they're minor.
  10. Yeah to be honest. I would have waited six months for the Devil's Canyon CPU's this damn CPU get so hot, I literally wouldn't be able to operate it without a watercooler (though I might be able to if I delidded it and replaced the TIM, but I'll let my mom handle intel if this cpu dies due to heat). Other than that it's pretty much future proof for gaming, just needs a gpu upgrade along the line plus any replacement parts. I'm currently looking at cases and parts for my watercooling loop to help with temperatures in the room. I would like more monitors but that would require a better desk and I haven't found one so that'd probably require some fabrication.
  11. I don't. My needs are satisfied by my HDMI out of my graphics card and the onboard soundcard on my Maximus VI Hero mobo is decent. I'd probably upgrade to a discrete card if I were going to be doing Let's Plays or something but I don't see a need for one otherwise if you have bitstreaming support through your graphics card.
  12. Yeah. Not doing STEP for yourself is just shooting yourself in the foot, not to mention the shady business of trusting someone else to do it right and paying them for it. We're working on some mod compilations but are still waiting on responses from mod authors for permission. So far I think we have permission to include 20-30 mods in the compilation.
  13. I'm with Sparrow here. Looks totally upscaled. Filthy upscaler.
  14. SR:LE still uses SRO. We had to nix the SRO textures because we couldn't get permission to release them or billboards for them (from DynDoLOD) in our packs which help reduce install/download time.
  15. How about 2.2.9.1.1? :p
  16. The easiest way to install steam mods in MO is https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Nearox/Steam_Installation_Guide As for perks STEP doesn't touch many that aren't covered by the USKP so if there is a fix for just that one and it doesn't alter it too drastically it should be fine.
  17. Good retexture is good. Not a fan of the armor though. the skin is great but the armor looks kinda glossy and like plastic.
  18. Good retextures is good. Will need to compare to, what is current STEP AMB?
  19. SATA cables don't make a difference. SATA II cables perform at the same speed as SATA III cables this has been proven by tests by reviewers as well as through my own experimentation (which included me cutting open the cables for fun to see if they were structured differently). As for which SSD to get I'd recommend Crucial MX200 (or M4) or Samsung EVO since you're on a budget. The 500GB versions seem to be the most bang for the buck atm from a cursory glance. AS for RAM you don't get much of anything out of higher RAM speed or timings anymore, used to be it was a noticeable increase but it's so small now with modern cpu's it's not worth it. IIRC the most bang of the buck are at 1600 MHZ. I'd recommend either G.Skill Sniper or Trident or a set of corsair ram. I'd have to check more to give more advice. G.Skill usually uses either Hynix or Samsung chips in them IIRC, the Samsung ones are usually better but it's a lotto. I can look into this some more in the morning and help you put something together on PCparts picker. Do you live in the US? And what is the max price again $350-450?
  20. Wow um... not sure why you have that. I'll have to check this out when my install is finished I just nuked all my profiles and am currently reordering for SR:LE
  21. Very interesting. I guess I don't noticed it in my pure STEP buids since I don't use the lock tree often. I usually use a perk overhaul so that 'fixes it' but interesting none the less.
  22. Thanks for the heads up.
  23. It's funny because iirc Mangaclub used a fair bit of Aiyen's code in his ENB.
