MosAnted Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 SIM (formerly Fhaarkas Font Mod) tweaks the SkyUI interface for better compatibilty with font replacer mods. It fixed overlapping issues I was having when using Fertigo Pro. It also comes with it's own fonts, and includes other Interface tweaks, plus a optional font replacers for books and notes.
oqhansoloqo Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Just from glancing at the mod pics on the Nexus mod page it looks like it could be a useful mod.
Lonewolf Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I'm trying it right now and the font is so much better than the fertigo from STEP, and it doesn't collide. Also, the text in skyrim has finally that nordic feel that it should have.
oqhansoloqo Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Even though I've never tried the mod, just seeing some of the pics and reading about some of the features, I'm thinking that some basic improvements can be gleaned from this mod. I'm marking this for testing consideration. EDIT: lol - actually, someone beat me to it. Edited April 5, 2015 by oqhansoloqo
EssArrBee Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Adding testing as a tag does mark mods for testing. Only Staff can actually add the actual thread tags.
TechAngel85 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 He met he was adding a testing tag (not the prefix) so that we could look at it and see if it's something that we would want to officially test, at which point we'd add the testing prefix. This is all laid out in the dev thread for users to add mods for consideration.

MosAnted Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 I'm trying it right now and the font is so much better than the fertigo from STEP, and it doesn't collide. Also, the text in skyrim has finally that nordic feel that it should have.YMMV but I found myself really liking fertigo pro, and it can be used with this mod t ofix the overflowing/collision issues, few as they are (mostly in menus IME). Although if you want to use the book fonts alongside other font replaced mods you need to make a few tweaks in fontconfig.txt (nothing too difficult, just copy/paste lines that aren¡t present and make sure the appropiate font is selected)
TechAngel85 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 The one thing I don't like about this mod and it's too hard for me to get used to is that it makes some elements much larger than what I'm used to. Like the main screen font is now much larger with this installed.

oqhansoloqo Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) So what are the options/features that people generally like about the mod (that aren't available in better forms elsewhere)? :) Edited April 7, 2015 by oqhansoloqo
Harpalus Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) So what are the options/features that people generally like about the mod (that aren't available in better forms elsewhere)? :) I love the font, first of all. I also like that it fixes every instance of text clipping that I know of when using wide fonts: no other mod does this that I'm aware of, and I wasn't using font replacements for this reason until I found SIM. Both the font and the widened menus are unique to this mod. It also has decent fonts for books and letters, and some other installation options that I'd normally need separate mods for. I turn off enemy markers and undiscovered locations, personally. I like that I install it once and it's done. No extra ESP slot, no extra MCM menu. No saving or loading of presets. I'm not suggesting any of the above is harmful, just that this mod pretty much meets my UI needs without them. I like the comparative simplicity. Edited April 7, 2015 by Harpalus
oqhansoloqo Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I thought the fonts for books and letters looked particularly interesting. I haven't checked into it yet, but do any of the mods currently installed in STEP actually alter those fonts, or just the texture of the paper and covers of the books? (I haven't had time yet to check tonight)
TechAngel85 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 The only thing I can't get over is the increase in the size of the menus. I'm having a hard time understanding why the author did this. If I'm not mistaken, it's even larger than vanilla's default. I even customized it with some of the changes from Fertigo Pro, but it's still way to large. I'm on a HD display for a reason and my glasses work perfectly fine. I don't need assistance.
