GrantSP Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I'm not sure using this is going to be an easy affair. Since this mod has made changes to some assets that are utilised by more than the Spell Tomes, there are apparently issues that arise from its text overlays. (see the Posts tab of the mod's page and note the last date on the matter and the dates of the release.) If the author hasn't touched these mods for sometime, despite noting a WIP to cover all his work, I can't see any hope of any further work on these. Just saying, that's all.
oqhansoloqo Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) If that's true that's a shame because this is the only spellbook mod that is in testing that I even like or think is a nice improvement based off of the mod page pics. Edited February 22, 2015 by oqhansoloqo
DanielCoffey Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I have not downloaded the mod myself but the conflicts between Jeclredured's spell tomes and the vanilla reading books which teach magic skills should be resolved by using it alongside Book Covers Skyrim. BCS gives new meshes to the vanilla skill books that conflicted with Jeclredured's mod. The issue of the seam on the back cover of the spell tomes which Jeclredured mentions is down to a bad UV Mapping. When I created the optimised meshes for BCS I spotted that bad UV mapping and fixed it in the new meshes. That is also the reason why the textures of the vanilla books have a bad wiggle on the lower left corner of the front cover. I do not believe Jeclredured uses my book meshes. The reason why I omitted all the spell books from BCS was compatibility. A great many mods modify the spell books (particularly names and values) and I could foresee a terrible time keeping a very broad family of compatibility patches up to date. I would be prepared to revisit this gap in the BCS mod subject to a bit of investigation by the community. If I am provided with a list of the key mods I would have to check for compatibility (I would assume Requiem would be one, for example) I would be prepared to see what effort was needed to do covers for the spell book schools in the style of Book Covers Skyrim. To avoid further derailing this thread, I will make a new one in the Mod Authors section and we can discuss an approach in there.
Agnusthemagi Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 This is not the only spell book texture in testing, look over here: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/7216-book-books-trifle-from-hiro-by-hiro/I used the Jeclredured ones in the past but I like the other one better, any way one spell book retexture is needed, vanilla ones look bad close to other textures replaced by STEP.
oqhansoloqo Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Yeah I saw those - personally, I don't like those as much. They deviate further from the original book covers and even seem somewhat overdone in fanciness. I like Jeclredured's simpler style and my opinion is that it's more appropriate. But I guess you could argue that mages would make sure to make their spell books fancier due to the fact that they contain words of great power.
Redferne Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I personally prefer the variant 1 of his previous work. Much closer to vanilla.https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34494/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D34494&pUp=1

TechAngel85 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I think it's safe to say that we're going with Book Cover's new version for this. Dropped from Testing for v2.2.9.1.
