JudgmentJay Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Discussion thread:Footprints by jonwd7Wiki LinkAdds dynamic footprints in snow (other textures such as mud and sand coming soon) unique to each creature type. I'm pretty amazed this hasn't been created before now, but this will be a big hit I'm sure.
Neovalen Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Brilliant, gonna definitely check this out when I can.
Kelmych Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I grabbed it also to see how it looks. I also wonder how it works with Road_Snow_Footprints; ideally they work well together.
frihyland Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Sweet, I've been following his progress on the beth forums, some truly amazing work here. Â It will work with any mod, it creates a new decal and places the decal on the ground where you step, he completely programmed the whole thing from scratch.
Kelmych Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Apparently the tracks last a fairly long time; I wonder how long.
frihyland Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 As long as you have decals set to last in your ini.
skwareballz Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 it would probably have to be higher than what EBT recommends if you have lots of NPCs on screen.
CaBaL Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 tested this for a couple of hour today.... and looks just great...hard to belive how much these little things give strong immersion....whole life recommendation
Selway Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 It looks like Im in the minority on this one but Im just not a big fan of it. I wanted to like it and I think its an awesome idea. I just didnt feel like the footprints looks natural enough. They didnt fit in well enough to me and broke immersion for me personally. Specifically I thought they stood out too much. I would have preferred the regular footprints to look more like the sneak footprints. Also, the outline of the footprints were too crisp to me. Maybe some variation might helps some... I dunno. I love the idea so Ill keep an eye on this mod to see if it improves.

CaBaL Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 keep in mind that also in vanilla game character often floats 5 inches+ above the ground ,even more immersion breaking...... footprints here could be more realistic that's very true , is a fresh mod afterall.... lot of space for improvements ,let's see how things and future updates (if author will make) go... indeed production can be better... idea is awesome.
mothergoose729 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I tested this mod with TES5 edit and it is squeaky clean. Not everyone is a fan of the foot prints, but considering the vanilla game has no footprints at all this is an obvious improvement. I can't see a reason why it shouldn't be a part of the next STEP. if a person doesn't like it, like everything in STEP, don't download it. It is safe and it doesn't change core skyrim in any way.
Starac Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 It is not improvement if footprints don't look natural. To me this looks so bad.
