I bumped into this purely by accident, and my jaw immediatelly dropped on the floor.

According to the author, it's not even a retexture at all, just a mesh change. And apparently it made night and day difference.

 

 

Can't wait to test it with Better Circlets.

 

I just wonder whether it doesn't conflict with SMIM, but considering how small change it is, I wouldn't think Brumberk "bothered" with it.

I'd been using a different circlet gems mod but having switched to this one I think I'll be keeping it. Looks loads better than vanilla. The circlet retextures out there look too fancy for my taste so being able to alter just the gems was awesome for me.

I put it in my load order yesterday and briefly tested, it looks gorgeous with Better Circlets. Was going to do comparison today, but... got stuck in the office for 14h :/ My work is killing me recently, but I look forward to the paycheque, hell yeah!

 

Anyway, I will do some compares in the coming days...

There are alternative gemstone retextures inside Skyrim Redesigned, but I have never looked at them.

This is what I had been using before. It touches moonstones, which True Circlet Gems does not; however I think True Circlet Gems is sparklier and therefore the one I am now using.

New Jewels for Circlets, like Better Circlets in STEP 2.2.8, contains only textures while True Circlet Gems contains only meshes (as mentioned earlier). True Circlet Gems can potentially be used with a number of circlet mods (including the two mentioned) that only provide textures, assuming the textures are compatible with the meshes.

As you can see - Moonstone is not touched by any of the 2 tested mods. Some of the meshes are not affected by BCG, and some are.

I am all for Better Circlets + New Jewels for Circlets, without this mod. I have also check in my own set up with Skylight ENB and the new meshes are not so good. Inventory models, NJfC is a winner all the way. On character - True Circlet Gems look better in only 1 case - rubies, IMHO. The rest of them, again, NJfC totally wins.

 

My oppinion - go for BC+NJFC, ditch TCG.

For completion's sake, shouldn't you do a comparison with just Better Circlets and True Circlet Gems? Maybe that would look better than BC with New Jewels.

 

EDIT: Added to OP. I'm seriously wondering why z92 didn't mention that combo.

Yeah, I though of that, but I did what was required in the OP. Working habit - test as per spec, if it's a missed requirement, it's not your fault :D
