TechAngel85 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I considered taking a few more shots in differently locations but decided it wouldn't help. That is vanilla lighting and their going to look "blah" no matter the location/time of day. Several have posted about issues and it may be that I'm experiencing those issues as well. @Kuldebar,Would you mind posting a few shots of how they look in your game (vanilla lighting please) for a comparison?
PioneerRaptor Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I'm not a fan of Vanilla or those mod. The edges look noisy to me.
WilliamImm Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Let's get Saerilith to remake the regular gems. I know she's been on a roll with remaking the gems in both the dragon claws and the circlets, so why not just the regular gems? Gems used in necklaces and rings? Why not remake every gem used in Skyrim?
TechAngel85 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Any in favor of keeping this mod should say so soon. Else it'll be dropped out of testing.
Garfink Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Eeeek, don't look very good. I say drop it and wait for something better to come along. <wink, wink>
Kuldebar Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I used to like it (it was the only mod of its kind)...then Saerileth happened.
rootsrat Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I used to like it (it was the only mod of its kind)...then Saerileth happened. My thoughts exactly :)
Octopuss Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Are you sure you aren't mistaking standalone gems with those in jewellry? Saerileth didn't do anything with the former yet, and if I understood what she told me about week or two ago, she doesn't plan to do so in near future either.
Kuldebar Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Saerilith commented on the clutter gems, and why they remain the way they are, this also explains why Gems of Skyrim ran into a wall in its ability to improve things:The clutter gems are already set up like my circlets are mesh-wise, in fact Madcat's two-layer gemstones are inspired by them. The outer layer is already transparent, but the inside is opaque. I can't change that, Skyrim doesn't like to render multiple transparent textures on top of each other, it results in some very annoying flickering (unless I'm just doing something wrong, please contact me if you have a solution to this problem). So the only thing I can do for the clutter gems is giving them a proper texture and normal map, in vanilla they use greyscale noise + vertex colours.
phryxolydian Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I sincerely hope you nagged her to make a proper texture and normal map!
Kuldebar Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I sincerely hope you nagged her to make a proper texture and normal map!I can't find the quote but she had gave some affirmation on the subject of doing that, so it's just a matter of waiting for that shoe to drop. As for Gems of Skyrim, the mod author did hit a brick wall on its development and there were also some ENB related glitches I started to notice with the textures. (flickering and coloration)
