Redferne Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 A few days ago on my daily routine to see what's new in the Nexus, while following some links I found this:https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34494Here is the description: This mod is a retexture for the vanilla Spell Tomes that gives them their "color coded" respective book cover. Also the retextures has hi-res textures & normal maps.I've been using it for a few days and I have nothing to report other than it's one of those little nice addition to game that make modding so great. It doesn't conflict with anything in STEP beside "Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized".
rpsgc Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Pictures! HR-DLC Â Jeclredured Illusion: Restoration: Destruction: Conjuration: Alteration:I ate them, they looked yummy and I was hungry.Fine! I'll regurgitate them.
Omolong Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 This mod looks pretty good. I especially like the fact that the books aren't really vibrant colours any more.
Eliian Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Looks good. Agree that no vibrant colors is most nice.
torminater Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Most of the books are found in interiors/dungeons where light sources are (depending on the lighting mod) scarce and not very bright. Are the colors distinguishable under these circumstances or at least torchlight/magelight?

statmonster Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 They seem nice but frankly this level of detail will just wash right over me. I suppose there's little downside to using them - providing they do not increase the probability of crashes.
Redferne Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 The pack is all in 1024x1024 for dds and normal so I guess the impact is minimal. There are already several pack in STEP that add minimal changes to the game that you just guet used to but you immediatly notice when you forgot to re-add them :)
z929669 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I have no preference ... the extent of the color variation in both seems unrealistic IMO, and I'd be more attracted to something more muted.
rootsrat Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm with Z on this one. I can't really say which one looks better... They are different that's all I can say. I'm not convinced... What size are HR-DLC textures? If they are also 1024, then I'm not really bothered about either choice.
Eliian Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The HR-DLC spell tomes are 1024. I can attest =) Edit: They are actually bigger than this mod file size wise.
rootsrat Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm against this mod then. There is no improvement IMHO and its just yet another mod to manage. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Neovalen Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 My personal opinion is... if you use Book Covers Skyrim then you should use this mod as well. They compliment each other nicely. Against strait vanilla could go either way but these are still very well done.
Eliian Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I agree with Neovalen. At first I didn't like them, but they do go well with Book Covers. It fits a lot better. The colors seem much better too.
