mattfromoz Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Discussion thread: Get Snowy by Trebtreb Wiki Link Similar to Get Wet. Not compatible with frostfall. Has a version to cover just the player or the player and npcs although it looks like that version has a bug with brawls.
Farlo Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Even though it's not the author's fault, that bug's pretty significant.
torminater Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 The bug is fairly old. Safe to say that it won't be eliminated too soon.
rpsgc Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 New version sort of fixes the brawl bug V4.1: Ugly snow patch - Amended a bug introduced in v4.0 (changed texture scale from 1:1 to 3:3) V4: Brawl Bug Plugin + Labyrinthian patch - fixed the Brawl Bug issue by supporting the Brawl Bug plugin mod - fixed snow effect appearing in parts of Labyrinthian by adding a GetInWorldspace check. - slowed down fade-in and out times. - renamed the .esp (last file rename i will do) so that people don't have to issues installing future versions. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23435
Neovalen Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 The author has stated (after my suggestion) that the brawl bug plugin will soon be updated to use USKP version of critter.pex/psc as a base, right now there is a minor conflict. For advanced users, you can go ahead and merge the script source manually and recompile using the CK.
Neovalen Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Sometimes I hate script mods... alright so just a small list of popular mods affected by this bug fix... USKP: Critter.psc/pex Footprints: bladesparringscript.psc/pex c00trainerscript.psc/.pex companionsinglecombatantscript.psc/pex dgintimidatealiasscript.psc/pex Follower Trap Safety (source not available to create patch): traptriggerbase.pex In the end I'm hoping someone finds a more elegant solution to fix the problem. For now I'm simply going to do the console method myself.
Neovalen Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Michalek has updated "Follower Trap Safety" with a patch for compatibility with brawl bug plugin, woot!
TechAngel85 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I personally use this mod on top of STEP and would like to see it considered as a STEP feature. It adds immersion and realism to the game without breaking vanilla. I currently have no issues running Get Snowy. I realize it's not compatible with Frostfall but that isn't a reason for it to not be included in STEP as Frostfall isn't included in STEP either. Frostfall, though adding a great deal of realism to the game, also distracts from vanilla and game-play by requiring players to stop gaming and make camp or die in many situations. This for many gamers, including myself, would be an annoyance. I'm not playing The Sims. I'm playing Skyrim here. Though I will admit, once the majority of the game is complete Frostfall could be an attractive option to pass the time. The current version of Get Snowy has Brawl Bug Plugin support and Labyrinthian patch making those non-issues as well. BOSS is reporting no issues as well. I don't see a reason Get Snowy wouldn't be a good option for STEP.
Neovalen Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 This and the new Wet and Cold mod together work nicely. You get the ice breath + snow on the body. It's epic.
JudgmentJay Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I really wish Get Snowy and Frostfall worked together. EDIT: Actually looking at some recent comments from Get Snowy's author it looks like you CAN run Get Snowy and Frostfall together. The only conflict is that you'll get the visual effect all the time when it's snowing instead of only when you're freezing to death. Not a big deal at all, especially if you don't play in third person.
rpsgc Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 v5 is out:V5:No skin-snow for player- Introduction of a new feature to remove snow from skin.- NOTE: I'm working on implementing the same feature for other actors.
z929669 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Any reason to use this if we are going with Wet & Cold again?
WilliamImm Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 No real reason. W&C will use the Get Snowy shader if it's installed, but W&C has it's own snow shader already.
TechAngel85 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Does Wet & Cold snowy effect work on NPCs and creatures too bc Get Snowy does. We'll need to figure that out.
