Yeah no enb with the combo is very nice indeed. I'm a sucker for DoF, SSAO, and reflections though.

I have a pretty detailed look at RLO in SR ATM if you guys care to look.

The biggest issue (for me) with skipping ENB is that you miss out on the improved shadows that are miles ahead of what you can get without ENB. I like SSAO etc as well obviously, but that's the #1 thing for me. Then again it's easy to just turn everything off in ENB except for that if you don't want it to mess with colors and such.

Problem with that is, even with all the extras turned off you're still going to get a big performance hit with an ENB just from the rendering which still causing me to play at the lower resolution.

That sounds a bit odd, with UseOriginalPostProcessing and UseOriginalObjectsProcessing both set to true I hardly lose any fps whatsoever, but it obviously differs from system to system

That's what I thought. There would be no point in me running an ENB if I set that to true. I only have the minor features enabled (bloom, detailed shadows, etc). SSAO and DOF I always disable due to performance.

The only reason i mentioned it was for using detailed shadows without changing anything else, as I see that as the most vital effect :)

If darker dungeons is placed before RLO then RLO will overwrite certain interiors with its values. However Darker dungeons touches more interiors then RLO does so it still have some benefit.

Also the changes made by darker dungeons are different then RLO in some cases where RLO just uses vanilla values. These you might want to manually overwrite in tes5edit.

As for problems with RLO and ENB.... try to go to any small village and go indoors. Then you will see parts that RLO do not touch at all, and depending on ENB preset then they will be a certain amount brighter then similar houses in the major cities that are touched by RLO. I find that the inn´s in particular are bad since they normally have giant fire places etc.

Honestly, as RLO advances and becomes closer to being complete and combining it with CoT 3.1, I'm finding it less and less necessary to run any ENB whatsoever. I haven't used an ENB in several months and I'm much happier with the coloring of the game with these two mods vs the performance loss when using an ENB. I only used the ENB for the additional rendering of the colors anyway so I haven't missed any of the extra ENB features.

If I had a more powerful rig, I would most likely still use an ENB. But for now, I like playing on a higher resolution which the ENB will not allow me to do.

Some people like the color correction used by vanilla skyrim and that is fine... personal taste after all.

As for features, then that is entirely rig dependent! If you have the rig to get the higher quality shadow and shadow effects, then why not.

For me personally the shadow effects of ENB just add too much atmosphere to the game to miss out on. And I also prefer a different take on the color correction.

So to answer your questions joshkope... yes I do run my own ENB preset (Skylight ENB). And yes that addon needs to be placed after. But if you are using an ENB then the change darker dungeons make to the game is to alter certain interiors which have forced daytime settings to night time which can otherwise be very noticeable with certain ENB presets. Also as far as I could tell then darker dungeons covers more interiors then the RLO patch.

Keep in mind that the darker dungeons and interiors from RLO is not a finish product yet. All evidence points us to that addon being a complete replacement for the main dungeons ESP when it's all set and done.
