DynDOLOD 2.18 condensed update post

 

What’s New?

 

This is a simple maintenance update to address a bug and add updates for a couple mods.

Some Assembly Required

 

Caranthir Tower Reborn - DynDOLOD Resources contains an optimized full model of the tower for a little bit more performance friendly Neverfade LOD. Mesh rules also add LOD for the stone dragon and the portal building.

Optional: to sync concealing/revealing the tower from far distances install and overwrite the two original scripts with the ones from DynDOLOD Patches.

I'll try your countref script tonight as well, Sheson (maybe that one will run on my setup?). But zilav's comment would explain why dunc was able to omit generating Tamriel > persistent records in DynDOLOD until he produced an esp that would load. You guys are some really heavy artillery.

Trying Ddyndolod for the first time, but get an error in texgen.exe, saying that dawnguard needs update.esm loaded before it. It is and i adjusted the loadorder.txt and plugins.txt and now it says Dragonborn needs update.esm loaded first. I have the legendary edition. I have been modding a few months and the game works, but texgen gives the same error over and over.

So in the case of Persistant my working load order currently has 52231 records.  The strange thing is the last thing I removed before it finally loaded again was Vigilant which only adds 18!  And DynDOLOD.esp contains more than Skyrim.esm!  Does this discount override records (ie are these counting unique records or could the same record be being counted every time it appears in a new esp?)

I can corroborate dunc001 numbers...to some extent.

 

I can load, barely with 42 645 persistent records for the Tamriel worldspace and 59 309 total.

 

I CTD at 42 679 persistent records for Tamriel worldspace and 59 343 total by adding Jurgholm.esp which contributes 34 records.

 

Or I can leave in Jurgholm and pull out Here There Be Monsters - The Call Of Cthulhu and load with 42620 for Tamriel and 59283 Grand Total.

 

And yes, my Skyrim.esm  contributes 15 196 records to the tamriel worldspace while DynDOLOD contributes 17 811.

 

I was kind of expecting to CTD over 65535 to be honest. 59 2xx to 59 3xx is kind of suspicious, but still pretty wide of the mark.

Trying Ddyndolod for the first time, but get an error in texgen.exe, saying that dawnguard needs update.esm loaded before it. It is and i adjusted the loadorder.txt and plugins.txt and now it says Dragonborn needs update.esm loaded first. I have the legendary edition. I have been modding a few months and the game works, but texgen gives the same error over and over.

Load the load order in xEdit. It should show the same error. The error message is self explanatory, this is a problem with the plugins load order. Use LOOT and a mod manager to fix the load order of plugins instead of editing the txt files. I suggest to follow a modding guide like STEP.

So in the case of Persistant my working load order currently has 52231 records.  The strange thing is the last thing I removed before it finally loaded again was Vigilant which only adds 18!  And DynDOLOD.esp contains more than Skyrim.esm!  Does this discount override records (ie are these counting unique records or could the same record be being counted every time it appears in a new esp?)

It should count each record once, regardless of its overwrites.

Yes, 64k is the only number that would make any sense as a limit if there is one. Looks like something else is the limit. It could be the total number of 'current' loaded references. So 25 cells + 1 persistent cell - since you reported it crashes right when clicking "new" that seems unlikely. Though you could try to 'cow tamriel x y' into a deserted area in the border regions. It could also be just the real space all these records need for their data - not likely too though, since that would be the block1 for all I know.

Well, actually, the CTD doesn't happen right when clicking "new" or trying to load a save game. That's the other tip off that this is THE CTD (aside from the repeating crash address in each case). When a game loads or starts NORMALLY, about 3 seconds into the loading or start up sequence there is a very slight pause or "hiccup" in the loading screen animation, almost like the loading screen skips a frame and the game loading or setup continues normally (actually there's also one later when ENB come on, though it seems less of a momentary pause and more of a rendering change). When the CTD happens, it happens at that moment, the moment where that pause would normally take place. dunc initially said that he experienced the CTD right on clicking "new", but I recall he later mentioned there was actually a delay of about a second. We don't have the same hardware or exact load order so that could still be the same part of the sequence.

 

Mind you, this is with OSAllocators enabled, but I get the same result with it disabled and using the SKSE memory patch (set to 1024); it just takes longer.

 

Now, I know squat about the TESV loading sequence, but I'm assuming that the engine has a sequence divided up into different parts (naïvely something like reading the ESM/ESP data, reading the save file and then setting up and rendering the worldspace). And when it is set to "overload" it starts the first part of that sequence and fails at the end of that first part.

Do a test with 'cow tamriel 8 -4' from main menu and then 'cow tamriel 0 -43'. The second loads into virtually empty cell with no references.

Tes5edit loads my mods, with no issues, i can load up my modded game and play without incident. Loot verifies the load order is ok. However both texgen.exe and ddyndolod.exe still say that update needs to be loaded before dawnguard. In mod organizer i can plainly see it is, its not able to be moved, its ghosted/greyed out. I have googled it to no avail, which is why i posted here. https://unsee.cc/zinetuda/ < is a pic of my load order. I followed both the beginners guide on reddit and the step guide at various points. The unofficial patches unchecked in the picture are when i had to swap the usleep master script for a mod i had reinstalled. I just haven't deactivated them from the main mod list.

DynDOLOD and TexGen are based on a very recent version of xEdit that you can download here. The only difference is that they do not prompt the user to select plugins at startup like xEdit does. So, you have to make sure all those plugins are already active in the correct plugins.txt (in MOs case that should be the one in the current profile folder) which the gets "symlinked" to the normal plugin location which usually is C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Skyrim\Plugins.txt.

 

xEdit, DynDOLOD and TexGen all write a logline "Using plugin list: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Skyrim\Plugins.txt" so you can verify which plugins.txt they are using. If all else fails with MO I guess you could try to copy the plugins.txt from the profile folder to that location.

All 3 tools should show the same file in the log if they are all started through the same means with identical parameters. They should all behave exactly the same. Start the tools without MO to verify.

 

Make sure DynDOLOD is not installed in any MO folder, not installed in any gamer folder and not installed in any special operating system folder like the Program Files folder.

Interesting. I set Skyrim to CTD, but I didn't. I got an ILS instead and had to kill the app with task manager after 15 minutes. The loading animation just kept going as normal, so did the fog in the lower left part of the screen, and the loading screen object could be rotated and zoomed normally (and there was no music), but the game never dropped into anywhere. Tried with both custom memory blocks active and disabled, for both destinations. Also Crash Fixes never produced a crash log.

Hi, ran into a problem. My current dyndolod.esp was created using Real Waters 2 (made a post on it). I updated my water mod (sparrowprince update!). I removed the old RW2 from Dyndolod, and now, I CTD everytime I enter LoTD (safehouse). I cleaned masters, but otherwise have take no other actions. Disabling Dyndolod = crash free in safehouse cell. I know a full re-install will clear this up, but is there any particular step to take to get Dyndolod back w/o spending 1/2 a day on a re-install?.

Nm, I generated a new Dyndolod, that appeared to clear it up. Strangely though, It didn't  master sparrows new WATER 5.0, which I was kind of expecting it would.

Here is small issue I run into time and again. Had this over the last several versions of Dyndolod, and several full re-installs. A very low res textured archway at the Explorer's guild entrance. Legacy of the devoted mod. Mentioned it to ICA, but he couldn't do much on it.

 

Latest version of everything.
