Under this step it advices to:

 

After the main mod is installed install the "Weapons patch for 20th Century Weapons" and [Merge] it with the main file.

 

 

Is this still adviced even if I choose not to use the OPTIONAL 20th Century Weapons mod?!?

The eXcalibr ammo mod is still one of the most popular mods. It provides alternate weapon rounds that are used by many mods. I would suggest using it even if 20th century weapons isn't used.

I am using eXcalibr.. I was thinking about the step you mentioned (that I quoted). The way you've written that:

Sounds like it's not optional, even if I DID NOT install 20th Century Weapons.

Don't add a patch for something unless you use it. I believe what Kelmych is saying is that you can use eXcalibr WITHOUT the patch if you are not using 20th Century Weapons. If you do use 20th Century Weapons, add the patch for it.

Since 20th century weapons is optional the guide will be changed to make using the patch optional, used only when 20th century weapons is used. Thanks for noticing this error.
