Just the mods that were instructed to use in the guide, I did add a couple more mods on the end, but nothing to affect character textures, just lighting stuff, realistic megaton shack, can I copy/paste a full list from MO?

I'm assuming this is a vanilla NPC or one added by one of the mods in the guide. Determine which NPC this is. If you don't already know you can use the console; click on and around the NPC until you get the ID for the NPC vs. the clothing/armor. You can then search using FO3Edit to find the object for this NPC. Look at the records, particularly the values of the Model record  and the FaceGen Data record. See if any of these were changed by mods you are using, and if so is it by the mods you expect (e.g., Project Beauty). The MODL subrecord shows the name of the mesh model used for NPC. You can then look with MO at which mod provides this (typically the female body mod).

Yes, sorry if I wasn't clearer, it is a player character, a standard preset.

Do I do the same thing you suggested or something different?

Edit: since I formatted my OS drive and reinstalled windows whenever I try to run fo3edit I get this error "Fatal: Could not find ini". I guess there was an ini file somewhere I forgot backup.

xEdit itself doesn't have an ini file. Did you use the Fallout Launcher to generate the registry settings (and ini files) for Fallout 3; running fINIp after this is also a good idea as per the guide. A mistake I once made with MO was not saving and then copying the ModOrganizer.ini file located in the main Mod Organizer file (in addition to the profiles, mods, and downloads folders).

The INI in this instance that xEdit is looking for is the Fallout.ini. Either xEdit was called from outside MO, in which case xEdit will try to use the one in 'My Documents' or the profile that was active has an incorrect ini set for the game.

Ok, it was because I didn't run the launcher.

Knowing the image was a player character not an NPC do I  still do this?

No, it's different.

You posted the other day about adding the Candy character preset mod to the game, and that preset required different face and body mods than those used in the guide. Did you uninstall that new preset, or is this a character created using a new preset (the Candy preset or a different one)? As mentioned in the other thread, the problem with new character presets is the required face and body related mods, and the possibility of the obvious differences between the body and the head unless these mods are used.

Using a new preset and the mods it requires also means that the NPCs in the game added by or modified by mods (vs. the vanilla ones) might not look right since they may be designed for body/face-related mods that are different than the ones that are used in the game.

No, everything related to Candy is gone, none of the textures for that mod ever even worked anyway, which is why I removed it. In fact no preset worked and always looked very wrong, the same as my standard character presets, so something must be wrong somewhere.

I have the exact same problem (as in screenshot) with my character and most of the NPCs. Many of the NPCs also have the weird black rectangles in the junction between their necks and clothes, as pointed out in the guide. It's not that it's a game breaking issue but it's definitely an immersion breaking one...

Have you tried selecting the other male body type mentioned in the guide? There are other good female body mods. They aren't included since their Nexus pages are NSFW; some of them are better than the one in the guide.

Troubleshooting these problems usually requires using FO3Edit to see what is happening with the bodies and faces. For example, see if anything overwrites objects from the FCO (Project Beauty) mod.

@Kelmych

I'm already in the process of narrowing down the problem, because I want to fix it if possible. I tried Breeze's mod but it was worse, the bodies were ugly. I haven't tried any of the other female body mods yet but I will.

I'll report back if I find anything.
