ACCEPTED Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (by Starac)
Joat_Mon replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I already had the 1.7 files downloaded and assembled so I used the 1.8 updater and let it overwrite. I you have not downloaded 1.7 yet and you want to use 1.8 just download the 1.8 files and not the 1.8 updater.- 425 replies

For those of you using Win 10 1703 & up that have experienced random CTD's that don't have any apparent cause: I suggest that you disconnect any external drives and thumb drives that are connected via USB, also remove any disks from your optical disk drive, while gaming. Microsoft has changed some of the ways it touches/handles removable drives in a way that appears to lead to a CTD if it happens while you are in game.

LODgen running for 2.5 hours AFTER DynDOLOD "finishes"
Joat_Mon replied to BlacksburgNick's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
90 C is too hot, you need a better cooling solution. Your processor is likely throttling which will lead to longer run times for DynDOLOD. Running sustained at 90 C will eventually degrade your processor. You could try generating LOD for only one world at a time but keep an eye on the temps. What CPU do you have? -
No Shadows for certain light sources.
Joat_Mon replied to Verti's question in General Skyrim SE Support
It is a limitation of the game engine. -
No Shadows for certain light sources.
Joat_Mon replied to Verti's question in General Skyrim SE Support
IIRC you can only have 4 shadow casting light sources with in a given radius. -
You may want to up date 7-Zip ASAP, see article: https://www.computerworld.com/article/3252031/microsoft-windows/multiple-vulnerabilities-in-7-zip-get-it-updated-now.html

Step 1.B. - Did you initialize the game?
-
If you are using a dll plugin loader for anything in your game, disable those plugins (hide them so they don't start) and see if your game will start.

To follow up I checked Windows Event Viewer and it looks like we probably can blame this failure on Win10 1703. At about the time TexGen froze, a number of other processes also failed because they "timed out", including a Windows Defender update. What it looks like happened is that Windows updated the system time at that point. It only changed a few seconds but the weird thing is the time stamp on the event entry shows like it happened exactly 5 hours earlier. This could be because it timed out also, maybe due to lack of processor availability and fell back on GMT briefly, maybe only milliseconds, but enough to cause processes to think they had timed out and therefore they failed. That's my best guess.

TexGen froze about 27 seconds in to the run, in processing 3 and had advanced to combining beehivelod.dds. That was the last thing on screen (I know because I watched for about 20 minutes for any signs of life). I had to control alt delete out and it does not appear to have written anything to disk, which may have been the problem. My guess would be a race condition with all 8 threads at 100% according to HWMonitor. Sorry. Skyrim SE is on a different computer from Skyrim and is on its own SSD (1 Tb), my OS's are on a different SSD (512 Gb). There is a lot of free space on both SSD's as my downloads and backed up mods and saves are on a separate hard drive.

I had already done a clean uninstall from Wrye Bash following the SSE and Main manuals instructions on that previous run, so I went ahead and deleted everything in my Games(F:)/Tools/DynDOLOD folder and reinstalled. That solved the problem with one hiccup. TexGen would not complete on the first attempt. So I closed ALL other programs (Firefox, Wrye Bash, Steam), rebooted and ran TexGen from the -sse shortcut in the DynDOLOD folder, installed TexGen_Output to WB and repeated the close out, reboot and ran DynDOLOD from its -sse shortcut and installed to WB. Thank you Sheson, it all looks good in game, I guess the next thing is to attempt to learn to generate 3d lod.

1. "periods" or dots if you prefer - GrantSP was referring to a possible problem with your path statement "G:\MO 2.0.8.3b\mods\DynDOLOD Resources SE" it would be better witten "G:\MO 2_0_8_3b\mods\DynDOLOD Resources SE. 2. As Sheson (the author of DynDOLOD) pointed out your problem might be with MO2 not installing correctly with the fomod which could lead to the missing core requirements. 3. MO2 is beta and is having problems with third party tools and reading/writing files in some versions of Windows 10. You could try reinstalling DynDOLOD resources manually. OR You might want to consider Wrye Bash as your mod manager as it is far more stable than MO2 If you want to get more help with MO2 then ask a moderator to move this thread to the correct subforum.

This is the latest of several attempts with the same result. The logs you requested were too large to post so I sent them to you via pm. It is possible that I corrupted either the DynDOLOD executable or resources be accidentally starting two instances at the same time (double click on launch) on an earlier attempt, so maybe I need to do a clean install. Thank you

I must have made a mistake somewhere. Does the exit code give a clue as to where I need to start looking? LODGen_SSE_Tamriel_log.txt

Did this as described in the video except I used DynDOLOD 2.30 and the latest resources file, but I probably used the wrong resource file (maybe used from Skyrim, not SSE). I was only able to test for a few minutes before I had to leave for a trip out of town but my limited observation showed some trees appear to not have LOD. Also the contrast of some of the trees not having any wind motion when others do move is jarring. I also generated at 512. I use Wrye for my mod manager but used MO2 for the fomod for EVT. Edited to correct version #

I fought this same problem a long time. What worked for me: downgrade from Win 10 to Win 7, use Crash Fixes instead of ENBBoost, turn off hyper threading, over clock my CPU to 4.8, reduce the graphic load (less grass, lower res mod options, etc.). The stumble never goes away entirely but is reduced to the point where it is barely noticeable and not immersion breaking... OR SO I THOUGHT, until I started playing Skyrim SE, since then it is hard to go back to my Skyrim game without wincing.

You could try forcing Anisotropic Filtering in your video card settings instead of in your enblocal.ini settings.

SSEEdit Cleaned Dawnguard = zlib.error in WRYE Bash
Joat_Mon replied to Joat_Mon's question in xEdit Support
Thank you zilav, I was on an older build. I am now on the latest build and it does work correctly. -
If I use the SSEEdit cleaned Dawnguard.esm (cleaned either once or twice) SSEWRYE Bash standalone shows an error when creating a Bashed patch and also when Dawnguard.esm is right clicked and select Details. wxPython: stdout/stderr zlib.error: Error -5 while decompressing data: incomplete or truncated stream The errors do not happen with the uncleaned Dawnguard.esm and they do not happen with any of the other cleaned .esm's. Do I need to correct this some how? Win 7 pro 64bit, Steam installed on seperate SSD from OS, SSEEdit and Wrye Bash (Mopy) folders are installed at E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\ Moderators: If this would be better answered in the Wrye Bash Support forum please move it.

In your skyrimprefs.ini change iMaxAnisotropy=1 to iMaxAnisotropy=0

First scan to make sure you don't have a virus or malware, then see if you can turn off your antivirus or prevent it from starting. Then test Skyrim. If necessary you could kill the antivirus in task manager.
