  1. It would be cool to test this out with the dx9 tool from boris if anyone had a 4Gb or higher AMD card, I just ran the test right now, and with a 3Gb card I'm getting reports of having 4064Mb usable under DX9 applications, it has peaked my interest now, also I read a report on windows that they have passed the issue along to their tech team, I remain hopeful that they decide it's worth fixing, but one can never guarantee anything.
  2. If you are interested in more information about Compression and how it works in games like Skyrim, I would recommend having a read of this https://fileadmin.cs.lth.se/graphics/research/papers/gputc2006/thesis.pdf it may answer any questions you have. While quite a lengthy read it is most certainly informative, more so than I have seen before
  3. Pretty much what hishutup said to be honest, that's abou the only issue your likely to find with an AMD card in Skyrim. I've had my R9 280 OC edition for 2+ years now and I've never had any issues with Skyrim or any enb preset I use. Although I'm about due for a GPU upgrade I think Yeah Boris did have someone get grumpy because he wouldn't exclusively support AMD but that's because boris was still running Nvidia, understandable but support wasn't completely dropped for the card, I have heard(read) that if you have windows 8/10 your Vram then your limit is 4Gb VRam, however some people have said that this does not affect AMD gpu's. I am unable to test as I only have 3Gb VRam on mine The tweaks contained with spINI are more than enough to keep any AMD gpu happy, you shouldn't need any major tweaking to get good results, but as always tailor to your preference.
  4. Thank you, I was going insane trying to figure that out, I now have fully rendered LOD again! I made the changes you recommended and even with full Noble Skyrim 2K and it's smim patch, with a reflect map on water of 2048 I'm still getting a minimum of 30fps, as long as it stays at that minimum and no lower I will be a happy man, I will be testing more mods out here shortly so I can play around with the specular settings and see what I can come up with, if I remember rightly I think aMidianborn's armor mods include a specular map so I might install these and test.
  5. I just downloaded and ran the newest version today and it works so much better, however I have a few concerns that I would appreciate alleviated. When using uGrids 5 and standing on the docks of Solitude looking towards the city, the outcropping on which the castle stands and half of the land are not rendered into view, whereas before with the settings from the earlier version they were and there is no frame rate drop between either version ENB turned on ENB turned off Ignore the washed out graphics of enb, It honestly was not like that before trying this new program today, I cannot figure out what has happened to cause this. also the links are not mixed up, that really is what my game looks like without an ENB, any help would be greatly appreciated at this point in time, everything else is perfect it's just the distance rendering that is stopping me from proceeding with my mod install and gameplay. I run Claralux and in the ini tweaks it mentions to run with fFlickeringLightDistance=4096 under [Display] but your program places fFlickeringLightDistance=8192 under [General] should I need the tweak from the claralux mod or will the one in [General] do the same job as the one suggested to be placed in [Display] ? In your guide you mention that *fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist *fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance *fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist *fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance all need to be set to around 16896 if running uGrids 5, however the gamerpoets video suggests setting these to 10000000, is this just down to personal preference or does it really tie in with the uGrids value ? Also in relation to Claralux, there is a few more edits that are advised (perhaps not mandatory though), namely these In SKYRIM.INI [DISPLAY] add/adjust: fFlickeringLightDistance=4096.0 fSpecularLODStartFade=2500.0000 fSpecularLODMaxStartFade=3000.0 In SKYrIMPREFS.INI [DISPLAY] add/adjust: fLightLODStartFade=15000.0000 fLightLODMaxStartFade=20000.0 your guide states that some of these may be useless and not used, what are the recommendations regarding this. Anymore information I can offer just ask and I will do my best to provide :) Thanks.
  6. Thankyou, I'm now currently going through the ini tweak pages on the wiki as well as the video ini guide from GamerPoets, trying to find the best possible set of tweaks for my game that don't cause undue problems like so many other tweaks do. Once again thankyou to both yourself and TechAngel who stopped by to offer help and support to a fellow gamer
  7. Thank you for input DoubleYou, I appreciate it immensely. After having cleaned up my ini files with your immensely useful spINI tool, would it be wise for me to add in lines from the youtube video made by GamerPoets, I am of the understanding that Michael from GamerPoets got his ini tweaks from the S.T.E.P wiki anyway, but I just thought it would be best to check if only for the added security of insight from people such as yourself, as it seems the ini lines have changed somewhat since I started modding skyrim
  8. I have used it in the past and haven't honestly noticed any improvement in gameplay, I'm always dubious when it comes to ini settings though as I have noticed and self proven in the past that they can easily break one's game. This time around I'm being careful with what I put in my ini files, Gamerpoets released a ini setting video on youtube and I made sure to check every single variable he listed with the getini command, if it wasn't found in my game I wouldn't enter the line into my ini files, seems fair that if the game cannot find it then it does not exist. Nevertheless I will wait for DoubleYou to weigh in on this one, thankyou for giving your input though it is highly appreciated :)
  9. Some of you whom frequent the Nexus will no doubt have seen the "Speed and Stability Guide for ENB" and the inclusion of an Update.ini file in the downloads option. My question to you guys is this, With the amount of settings that this ini adds, some of which were not present in the ini's after using SPini exe from DoubleYou, are they actually doing anything positive, I thought before I installed it I would check if they existed in game with the getini console command and here's the results I found I'll list it as so Setting=Value ; annotation (whether it's a new record (I.E not found with getini command) duplicate or found in a different ini file) Have a read through and feel free to double check if you like and let me know if you think this file is actually helping or hindering gameplay overall.
