Windows 10 - Overall Review and Modding
paradoxbound replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Banter Inn
To clarify I am speaking from a purely subjective position, I am System Engineer what used to be called a System Administrator before the term became debased. I work almost exclusively with *nix systems for me a Windows workstation doesn't cut it., I lose 20-30% efficiency and in some cases the tools simply aren't there. Same with OS X, even using tools like Homebrew or ports there are compromises to be made. If I was a dev who spends 90% of their time in an IDE the OS wouldn't matter so much. By the same token if I was a designer and someone offered me Ubuntu and the GIMP, I would be very upset. I am not an OS fanboi or fanboi of any description, I am writing this on a Mac and there are 3 Windows desktops in the house, as well as numerous Linux and BSD desktops and servers. -
If 2.2.9.1 is being released this weekend is someone from the team working on docs for DynDOLod? If one mod needs detailed documentation it is this one.

Windows 10 - Overall Review and Modding
paradoxbound replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Banter Inn
Windows be it 7, 8 or 10 is simply the OS I use to game on. For any serious work it must be a *nix system ideally Linux but OS X will do at a push. I will upgrade to Windows 10 some time after launch to let the bugs get ironed out by early adopters, probably shortly before the first DX12 game I want to try comes out. The state of UX design and "innovation" is terrible across all OS and distros at the moment too much that simply works is being changed for the sake of change. -
Is the Nexus being painfully slow for anyone else?
paradoxbound replied to Audley's topic in Step Banter Inn
I downloaded a 4.4GB Mass Effect HD pack yesterday and it took around 2 hours, I have a 80mb connection so slow for me too. -
I am looking forward to the Fury X. I am wondering if HBM will have any effect on performance with all the HD textures loading a heavily modded Skyrim needs to process. I was looking at replacing my pair of crossfired 290X Ubers with a single GTX 980ti but I think the Fury will be a better card.

I just pre-ordered the collectors edition which comes with its own PIP Boy. Most I have ever spent on a game. :D I will be taking a week or two off work.

Been running Windows 8.1 for the last few months it is flakey and Skyrim and the Fallout games seem less stable despite me having much better hardware than my old Windows 7 system. I won't be upgrading to Windows 10 for at least 3 months after launch but for those foolish bold early adopters who must install on day one, I thank you for your sacrifice. I am not concerned with 7Zip not working at this point it is still to early.

Play DA:O for the story it is brilliant best of the three, there are some nice mods on Nexus that will make it a little bit better. Not played DA:2 but friends tell me despite it's flaws it has a decent plot and characterisation. I have played DA:I brilliant party banter and some great moments in the main questline but a lot of it is grinding. The multiplayer was a huge disappointment to me. I have over 3,000 hours clocked up on ME3 multiplayer but DA:I multiplayer was broken on launch and has a number of fundamental design flaws that make it sub optimal.

SKYRIMLE Day Night City Lights (by StormCrow06)
paradoxbound replied to FuzzRocket9's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like the idea but it doesn't seem to play nicely with lighting Mods. I added it to my tracking list, I will play with it in a few weeks when I get back from holiday and my mod list has stabilised again.- 1 reply

SKYRIMLE Immersive Fallen Trees Mod (by Jurassic4LIFE)
paradoxbound replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like it and have it on my watch list but some of the trees don't look like they have fallen naturally but rather placed their by some gaint hand of god. -
Hello, I am doing a fresh install of STEP 2.2.9 other packages seem to be downloading fine but these two dispite appearing as downloadable on Nexus simply hangs at 0% complete. This is from MOs logs I cancelled their download last night after an hour of doing something else and resumed again this morning 09:33:20 [D] request resume from url https://nmm.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Libs/Common/Managers/Downloads?Download&nid=110&fid=103702 09:33:20 [D] resume at 0 bytes 09:33:21 [D] request resume from url https://nmm.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Libs/Common/Managers/Downloads?Download&nid=110&fid=105432 09:33:21 [D] resume at 0 bytes [D] Can anyone suggest a fix or advise on my next steps? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27371/? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28170/?

SKYRIMLE Campfire - Complete Camping System (by Chesko)
paradoxbound replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Maybe Chesko needs to add something like the Hunterborn skill improvement at some point then. You start off cooking venison camping style and you burn half the meet making a filling meal a medium meal and a medium meal a snack. It could also leave the food half cooked. This in turn leads to a chance of food poisoning or disease. Over time your skill improves and you become adpet at campfire cooking making it as sustaining and healthy as home/inn cooked food. I would really like to see Chesko and Unuroboros work together more as the two mods compliment each other so well and Teabag86 has made a great patch for the two mods. -
SKYRIMLE Campfire - Complete Camping System (by Chesko)
paradoxbound replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I don't see the issue of food being cooked while camping without salt, sure it isn't going to taste quite as good with something like beef or venison but nutritionally it is equivalent. Cooking at home or in an inn you're going to want to add salt to the cooking process. By the same token spit roasting a river trout or salmon, stuffed with foraged wild garlic or other herb it is my personal idea of foodie camping heaven. Also roasting mud crabs in their shells... I will stop now getting hungry. -
Hello, sorry if this is in appropriate or been mentioned elsewhere but I have a pair of MSI Gamer 290X 8GB cards in crossfire. Skyrim runs at 60fps during the on my system without ENBboost. With ENBboost installed and the default setting on the STEP core guide I am getting 30-40fps during my benchmarking of the intro. However with "Enable AMD CrossFireX for applications that have no associated application profile" box ticked in CCC I am back to 60fps. Do other people use a similar setting and is this likely to bite me later on when I hope to use Gamer Poets Vividian ENB guide?

GUIDE General Feedback
paradoxbound replied to Kelmych's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
Same here 2 SSDs one for games and one for OSes but as I said FO3 GOTY wouldn't run under steam until I fiddled with compatability modes. Curious to know why it works for you and not for me? -
GUIDE General Feedback
paradoxbound replied to Kelmych's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
Good guide starting it this weekend you might want to add a section at the begining about FO3 GOTY and Windows 8 they don't play nicely together without a lot of messing about with compatability modes. I followed this guide and it started working for me. https://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/864956555011164413/ -
