  1. I was looking into doing something similar, and while it is still the dream, I've put it off for now. The first thing I found out when researching game design was, the first step is a design document. If you have one, maybe you could share it. If not, that wiuld be the first step. Obviously it is going to change, a LOT, during the course of development, but before people can give you ideas, you need to lay your ideas out on the table. I'm a crafter at heart, and the crafting system is what makes or breaks a game for me. Extensive recipes and skills, including breaking goods down into raw materials or components. How much realism are you going for? One thing that irks me about games is being able to change armour instantly during combat. What you wear into combat should also be a difficult and lasting decision, imo.
  2. OK, the bashed patch page is updated. Turns out the best pages to link were all Core mods, so no need to label Core/Extended. I also added the LOOT rule for AMB/CCO to the AMB page until the masterlist updated. Hopefully the rest of SRB's updates get added to the masterlist soon so we don't need to add the LOOT rules back in. Thanks for all the help with this one guys.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's due to a massive change in the forums that has occurred. There are also a lot of links to threads/posts that no longer work, both in the forums and on the wiki.
  4. https://forum.step-project.com/topic/5439-step-v229-official-bug-reports/page-26?do=findComment&comment=114711 Do we still need Distant Decal Fix?
  5. I don't suppose you have a list of the rules you've added to the masterlist so I can check to make sure they've all been pushed through? If they've been added to the masterlist, would that mean LOOT should already have the meta rules already listed? And would that apply automatically to existing installs when LOOT updates the masterlist? Or does LOOT itself need to be updated? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks so much for helping me understand all this. It's going to take me years to read all the threads I need to so I can catch up.
  6. Thanks very much guys! I checked the history of aMidianBorn Book of Silence, and it appears the LOOT rules were removed due to an update to the masterlist. Thanks for pointing that out SRB. There is a rule missing about loading the content addon after CCO though, so I'll add that in so it's on both pages, and double check that all the other LOOT rules that are listed on any page, are on both pages of the pairs.
  7. From the aMidianBorn Book of Silence (by CaBaL) thread: This is what I mentioned at the end of the OP in this thread, and I'm partway through correcting it now. The Bashed Patch page has a list of LOOT rules that need to be added before creating a Based Patch. The list was missing links to some of the mods that include LOOT rules, but also aMIdianBorn Book of Silence is in the list, but the mod page doesn't actually have a LOOT rule! Should the LOOT rule be on both pages in a pair? For example Complete Crafting Overhaul and aMidianBorn Book of Silence for the Content addon rule, or should it only be included on the page for the second mod, when the rule can actually be added? If the rules should be on both pages, which I assume is correct, should the Bashed Patch page only link to one of the pair, or both?I was almost finished formatting the updated list in my sandbox when I realised there may be method to the madness, but then noticed that aMidianBorn/CCO were both on there, and EBQO is not in the list, as well as aMidianBorn not having its LOOT rules listed. After looking into these issues, I realised I have missed at least one LOOT rule while setting up STEP. Not sure how much of an issue it is, but I decided to delete my saves to be safe, and before I play I'll be repatching etc. (The rule I missed was Complete Crafting Overhaul_Remade.esp Load after: aMidianBorn_ContentAddon.esp funnily enough, which was the one that first started me down this track, so I'll admit this was my fault, but I'd be VERY surprised if I haven't missed more.) Is anyone aware of LOOT rules that have not been added to mod pages? This page should list all pages using the LOOT Rule template. Are there any missing? I know it's a pain to check, but I have no idea how/where else to find out which mods need LOOT rules. One last thing, in my Sandbox (please excuse the mess if you look) I have updated the list of all mods that do/should have LOOT Rules that I know of, but I'm not sure on the best way to format it. Should it be noted which mods are only for extended to save people 4 page loads, or not bother? If so, should the (Extended) label be inline as in the first example, or should they be listed on their own, as in the second example? Sorry for the long rant, it is now almost 6am and I just hope I can get a little guidance so I can clear this up, and then only need to update when new LOOT rules are added/removed. Thank you for your time.
  8. I really like the idea of it, but haven't had a chance to test it. I'm currently helping my wife mod Skyrim, and she doesn't want all of STEP, just most of it, so it's a real PITA. Got through Interface, RaceMenu doesn't work. Feels like it's gonna take a week to work out why. Anyway, I vote for yes based on the fact that it's quite useful.
  9. Thanks very much Boss, it's most appreciated. I won't let you down!
  10. Haha well I haven't broken anything yet. The main thing is, I know to preview, and revert a page if I do mess up... ;)
  11. That's really cool. Not sure if it was directed at me though, since of course I get the error as I'm not an admin. Yet. Since I was on that page though, I did spot another typo: CREATE A PACK - Use the link at the right to begin creating your own Pack guid. 《Final word should be guidE.
  12. I have a similar setup, you can see my specs in my sig, but the only time I've noticed any drop in fps is when spawning 50 guards and HD Alduin to test out my script reliability. It tends to happen when there is a big special effect, like his massive slab of fire right in my face, or the shockwave effect. I installed most of the higher quality options, except like you, tended to avoid 4k textures in most places as it seemed unnecessary. I tend to sit on 60 fps in normal circumstances, but I'll try to reproduce some of the things you mentioned in and around whiterun to see how it goes. I would definitely expect your system to be able to run with that mod setup. Edit: Sorry Politemaster, I was looking at OPs system specs when writing this, so it's a mixed up response. My FPS drops to about 45-50 when leaving Dragonsreach. So the results you're getting seem about right compared to mine. I had GPU-Z running while I was playing just now, and my VRAM usage was topping out at just above 3.5GB at some points, so I'm not sure you'll be able to get your system to run STEP Extended well, at least with all the higher quality options. I just had a very random CTD while riding to Ivarstead, which seemed to come out of nowhere, so I don't think I can even run Extended with all the trimmings reliably.
  13. I take it you're talking about STEP Vanilla Optimized Textures from the STEP Nexus files? Where should this go in the load order for testing, and can it be added to an existing save file? Also I noticed a few typos on the STEP Nexus page: The optimised vanilla textures on the files page should be called the Standard and Performance vErsions, not vArsions. Also on the description page, under Latest News, - November 2, 2014 Added Vanilla optimized texture packages, providing compression and mim-map-optimized versions of all vanilla textures not covered by STEP mods.Fairly sure that should be mip-map. There may be more, but those leaped right out at me.
  14. I only ran it for about 10-15 minutes this morning before bed. I'll see if I can ramp up the scripts a bit in BFS and Wet n Cold to get the results I want, and see if I can run it for an hour. Thanks for the advice guys!
  15. How long should I be letting it run for? Hours?
  16. Is this still a valid way to test stability? How long should I be looking at? It's 4am, and I do want SOME sleep, but by the time the first 3 dragons had died, I had no issues. I spawned another 5, and let it run for another 5 minutes or so, but for 10-15 minutes total, I had no issues whatsoever. This is with a full STEP Extended mod list, with 90% of the high res options, except some of the 4k options as it seems like overkill. Even 2k seems a little excessive on most smaller things, considering I'm limited to 1080p.
  17. I thought the chimneys looked a little bit silly, being so tall. I didn't realise she'd updated it that way.
  18. I absolutely agree. The old template does work just fine with simpler installs, but having 2 different templates in use can definitely cause some confusion, due to not being consistent. As for the new tenplate being harder to use, yes, it can be difficult to get right if you are coding it from scratch, but I find most wiki related things are easier if you copy and paste, then fill the "blanks", adding or subtracting sections where needed.
  19. A thread for me to clarify details before/during updating the wiki so I understand things better, and don't mess things up.
  20. It's not what you said, but it is the logical outcome. Nothing useful can be updated on the mod pages outside the recommendations tab from what I can see. That's where 99% of the issues are, so that just means they'll all need to be updated by Staff. I'll simply copy paste the code to a thread, include any corrections that need to be made, and the Staff can paste it into the form when possible.
  21. Ok. No problem. Should I start a new thread for all the wiki issues I find, or just post them all in this thread?
  22. Page Tools > Edit Source. It's the only way I can edit anything, and it gives me access to edit the ENTIRE page. I tried using the "Edit Form" link once before, but I got confused, so went fishing for a better solution. I just had another look at it now, due to your curiosity, and I think using that might be a little easier for some things hahaha Annnnd, trying to use the form just showed me why I moved on from there to the source. I can not edit anything useful (to me) using the forms. I can edit EVERYTHING on the first 3 tabs, except "Baseline", but nothing on the recommendations tab. Sooo, either I've been staff since I first signed up, or the permissions are off somewhere. Most likely need to lock standard users out of the "Edit Source" link. If you do that, there will be MUCH less wiki editing from me, and a LOT more "Hey this part of the wiki is wrong" forum posts!
  23. I noticed the Gemling Queen jewelry page has the old table still coded, but commented out. Is that standard, or should I remove the old one?
  24. It looks a lot better than the old one, unless I'm getting them confused haha I like the way it mimics the look of the FOMOD installer. The more a guide looks like the thing it's guiding you to do, the better. I wouldn't be able to make one from scratch easily, but the beauty of wiki is that all I need to do is copy and paste, and update the data.
  25. I'm assuming that any FOMOD guidelines like the left need to be updated to the one on the right?
