I reckon that is the most definitive, and compelling, argument against OneTweak I've seen. I've been using it for all my games but after this I must concede it just isn't needed. Thank you.

Another thing about using the internal LOOT API. I actually feel it might be better to drop it from MO altogether. It lacks the reporting facility of the full version and therefore you can't edit metadata for plugins or any of the other actions in the full version. This means if you want to do those things you will need to add LOOT to MO as an executable which sort of defeats the purpose of being able to add the API to MO in the first place. MO manages mods very well. LOOT sorts them very well. Why not just use each tool as they are? In the same way MO doesn't have certain 'features' that users often request, because other tools do them better and are freely available. Just putting it out there.
-
That's the reason why. The version of LOOT in MO uses a different format of 'masterlist.yaml' to the later versions of LOOT, you can't swap between the two. Open your computer with explorer to %LOCALAPPDATA%\LOOT\<Game name> and remove the .Git folder and the masterlist.yaml. Run the external version of LOOT again and it will download the latest masterlist and recreate any missing folders. After this only use the external version. nb. This is only if you haven't updated the internal LOOT in this beta version with the latest API from the LOOT website.

Splash screen with no prompts, game freezes
GrantSP replied to likethisandlikethat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I would start looking at your UI mods, especially any that require changes to the [Fonts] section of your ini. -
Whenever I see comments like this I just have to ask: are you trying to run NMM & MO together? If so that is always going to screw your game up. You cannot use MO with any other form of mod management, it just does not work together. Assets that are installed by NMM will reside in the game's actual Data folder and will not be managed by MO properly.

SKYRIMLE Jeclredured - Spell Tomes II (by jeclxohko)
GrantSP replied to phazer11's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'm not sure using this is going to be an easy affair. Since this mod has made changes to some assets that are utilised by more than the Spell Tomes, there are apparently issues that arise from its text overlays. (see the Posts tab of the mod's page and note the last date on the matter and the dates of the release.) If the author hasn't touched these mods for sometime, despite noting a WIP to cover all his work, I can't see any hope of any further work on these. Just saying, that's all. -
I really hope someone with a bit of talent looks at doing something similar to this. The idea is sound but the implementation was a bit heavy-handed, that initialisation process was dreadful. It needs some scripts like those on the 'have I read this book' type mods to work effectively, but maybe that's why it was so intensive, instead of a static list of books, you have hundreds of items that may or may not have a specific enchantment. This is where my desire for modding and my talent to do so diverge. Seeing an idea and creating that idea into a working product has always failed me.

A Probably Stupid LOOT/Meta Rule Question
GrantSP replied to flyingspatula's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Is your LOOT getting updated correctly? When you click 'Sort' do you get the message that the masterlist is updated? Regarding "screwed up load order", you are aware that LOOT has recently changed the way it sorted non-critical mods? ie. if a series of mods are after a mod that they rely on, they not necessarily look like what you are used to but will still work perfectly. The upshot is the order that is created will need to be checked by xEdit to see if conflicts exist for the LOOT team to deem it a "screwed up" order. Have you actually checked the order or are you only going on what you 'expected' to see. I've already made an ass of myself by complaining the order was messed up when in fact it works just fine, it just looked odd. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Yes, I know. My point is, Wrye Bash adds it automatically as part of its operation whereas Wrye Flash doesn't. That appeared to me to be what those users were seeing. Of course you can, and I do, copy the blank esp over. -
Something is Preventing Skyrim from Running
GrantSP replied to p4ck3tl055's question in Mod Organizer Support
I can't see that the different drive mechanism has a bearing, but you never know. Doing a fresh re-install of your mods may be the better option, a PITA but at least you get to verify as you go. -
A Probably Stupid LOOT/Meta Rule Question
GrantSP replied to flyingspatula's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Just a note. Loading it AFTER doesn't mean it has to be IMMEDIATELY after and IIRC LOOT has that rule already in the masterlist. The masterlist is being constantly updated and the STEP guide may just be in need of a refreshing. It is in the midst of a new update, so perhaps 2.2.9.1 or 2.3.0 will not show that LOOT rule. -
Something is Preventing Skyrim from Running
GrantSP replied to p4ck3tl055's question in Mod Organizer Support
Since your 'vanilla' profile works, its a fair bet that this isn't a MO issue but something to do with your mods. It looks like a missing master style of crash to me, at least from the way you describe it. Make sure no plugins have been removed, either by Windows or your AV package, though I can't imagine why they would quarantine an esp/esm. If you have any recent saves, mouseover them in the 'Saves' tab of MO and it will detail any missing esps. Failing any help there, disable your patches and enable groups of you SR:LE mods until you get the 'no-load' issue. Don't enable your patches because they will be looking for mods that may not be in those groups yet. -

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Very interesting. So its the left-hand pane order! Time for a bit of testing. I'm always on as administrator so I never see this. -
Having a quick look through the 'Conflicts' tab for UUF3P there are quite a few mods that overwrite textures. Stuff like litter, wood detail, paper, road edges and that sort of small detail stuff that probably need a comparison to make the choice. Mods like: UHQ Terrain Overhaul, NMC's Texture, MG's Neat Clutter & Essentials Retex as well as the Better clutter and furniture mod. @Kelmych About the DLCs for LOOT. They are included in the official release. I noted @hellianos's comment in the LOOT forum and checked it before and I think he may have an issue with his LOOT install, as far as I can tell, FO3 has all it's esms flagged correctly by LOOT's masterlist.

DROPPED Skyrim - Enhanced Camera (by LogicDragon)
GrantSP replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Totally agree. I have all the other versions also and they are just an essential part of the game for me now. (Can't see Mythic Dawn being abbreviated though, that would mean Hishutup has a MD! Not sure if he's finished high school yet. ) -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
You can always LOOT them again, and then just finesse the order if that isn't quite right. I'd like a bit of info on that 'running as admin or not' affecting the order, that sounds like something that needs attention. -
If LOOT flags as dirty with ITMs or UDRs then it needs cleaning. If it has NAVMESHES errors then that's a whole new kettle of fish and needs specialised attention, or just leave it alone. As for the UIO folders in the overwrite. Just leave them where they are, they don't affect the game and will be re-generated again next time the game is run if you delete or move them. Something to do with MO checking for the files that exist but not empty folders, so no matter how many times you move them into a mod, they will always appear in the overwrite.

FEEDBACK Wrye Bash/Smash/Flash Patcher updates
GrantSP replied to Sharlikran's question in Wrye Bash Support
A thing I've noticed, the two Fallout version Wrye Flashs don't generate a blank bashed patch when you first run them. Or if, as some do, you de-activate your existing patch and want to make a new one, you can't. Is this intentional or is just my installs that are wonky? If you want different profiles with different patches you need to do a bit of backroom copy/paste to make folders and copy a blank bashed patch first and then run Wrye.- 41 replies

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I think what you guys are seeing is the differences with Wrye Flash and Wrye Bash. Although I'm not using the very latest versions, downloading those as I type, I've noticed Wyre Flash wont generate a blank patch upon start up and needs to have your previous one active. That means that patch will be updated and not be found in the overwrite. Sometimes I've read users de-activate their bashed patches in Wrye Bash before re-building and in that case the new file will be in the overwrite but if you do have it active and re-build that patch it will be replaced in the mod that contains it. -
ACCEPTED Better Shaped Weapons - BSW (by masterofshadows and LeanWolf)
GrantSP replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
To me the BSW quivers look... wrong. I'm not sure why, maybe because they sit too high on the back and are very wide. I'm not a weaponsmith but there's just something odd about the look of them. Also they might look really out of place if you have quivers placed over the hips horizontally. Though that option probably isn't a STEP recommendation, not sure on that. Is it? -
Already part of the UPDATED Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.

Isn't there an escape sequence you can add to show characters that are part of templates? That LOOT switch is an essential part of any wiki page.

I'd like to help with the xEdit manual if I could. Twofold reasoning, I figure I know enough to get by and doing so will expand that.
