1. .Git is probably hidden from you by Windows. Press your Windows Start button and type 'Folder Options' then press ENTER. A window called 'Folder Options' will display, select the 'View' tab and in the 'Advanced Settings' panel select the 'radio button' to toggle the "Show hidden files, folders, and drives." Hit APPLY and close the window. Navigate to that folder and .Git will be shown. Delete everything in the Skyrim folder except your userlist.yaml. You can safely reset the hidden files/folders options by retracing these steps and choosing the other 'radio button', "Don't show hidden files, folders, and drives."
2. Yes. Do I know what that is? No. Other than trying all possibilities it is going to be a long search through everyone's setups to find the common denominator in their errors.
3. @Spankahontis Try using
text
tags when pasting in long lists like ini files.
4. @DoubleYou, @p4ck3tl055 Unfortunately, @tannin is also on Win8.x and he isn't experiencing this bug so any other information about this weird error is going to be invaluable.
5. Thanks @Nozzer66 for translating for me. @hardtroll If you want to be sure LOOT isn't messed up you will need to clean up that folder I mentioned earlier. On my system that folder is found here: C:\Users\Grant\AppData\Local\LOOT\Skyrim Obviously you replace my name with yours. In this folder there is a folder called .Git and a file called masterlist.yaml, delete them both. If you can't see the .Git folder it may be because you have the setting to not show files/folders with the 'Hidden' attribute. Change that setting in your Windows explorer window and it will show. When you run the external LOOT application again new versions will downloaded to replace the ones you deleted.
6. Wiki description of the BSA Extractor.
7. My advice is to use one or the other.
8. There is a current open issue in the Bug Genie that seems to be related to the latest Steam client update and users with Win8.x. At this point in time there is no concensus on what are the conditions that cause this issue and as @Tannin, MO's author, uses Win8.x and hasn't experienced this it might be hard to track down. If I can encourage you head over to the MO Bug Genie and see if your observations can be added to the issue.
9. Ahh, apologies, I couldn't see the highlighted plugin at the top at first glance. Now as to why LOOT may be messing up your order, there are a couple of reasons but perhaps the first one is where I'd look. If you are running one of the later LOOT versions, especially the beta versions of 0.7, you can't also use MO's built in 'Sort' button, doing so will corrupt the masterlist.yaml and create undesired results. If that is the case, you have installed a later version of LOOT, you will need to go to the %LocalUserData% folder and delete the .Git folder and the masterlist.yaml that are under the \LOOT\Skyrim folder. MO's version and this new version use a different format and they can't be used together. Additionally there are, at times, plugins that you will need to assign a correct order by editing the metadata. As mentioned, I don't use PerMa so I'm not sure of the correct positioning. Regardless of the positions though, the 'correct' place is always determined by an examination either in game or using xEdit, to see if records conflict. I'm sure the Perma forum has a lot to say on where they suggest each module to go., Lastly I see you also have Wrye Bash installed so the positioning may be determined by that tool also. It could possibly be that that tool is also messing with your order if it isn't set correctly. These answers may sound a bit vague, but as I said, I'm just offering generalised information, nothing specific to PerMa.
10. The initial scenes are very heavily scripted tutorial scenes and it is quite likely the Papyrus script engine has just given up and crashed. You can try disabling all, or most, heavy script mods and running the game to a point after you escape Helgen and then save, quit out, load up the other script intensive mods, and reload from there. Judging by your specs and the desired mod load you are trying to run, STEP Core-Extended, I can't see why your system would collapse, but you never know.
11. The screenshot you provided is of little help because you have everything sorted by 'Name' and not 'Priority' and nowhere in that shot can I see Immersive Armors. Instead try posting a link to PasteBin with a copy of both your 'modlist.txt' & 'plugins.txt', both of which are found in the folder of the current profile, in this case: STEP CORE. If I understand PerMa, and I don't run it or wish to at this stage, the separate modules don't need to loaded if you don't want that aspect of the game changed. ie. if you play a Mage style you don't need to have 'Warrior' or 'Thief' modules loaded. But if you do have them loaded it doesn't matter what order, relevant to each other they are, so long as they come AFTER the PerMa Master plugin. Since the link to the PerMa Compatibility Patch shows IA needing to be before PerMa, I'd say it is a safe bet that it needs to be BEFORE.
12. This is going to be a difficult one to fix I think. Firstly the 'Best answer' method listed above unfortunately doesn't appear to work for ALL users 100% of the time, so it isn't the fix Secondly @Tannin has posted in the Bug Genie that he has Win8.x and hasn't experienced this issue. It does all seem to stem from the Steam client update but there is something extra in some of the Win8.x users systems that messes this up. The current active issue is #1014.
13. Don't know if anyone is still interested, but I'm still working on this. I've taken longer than I want for a couple of reasons. I lack total commitment and find myself easily distracted I've decided to expand the reach of the mod and it now covers EVERY misc icon and quite a few extra ones. This last reason has meant I am now trying to either find or create suitable artwork to use and it isn't as easy I'd hoped. Also I've come across a collection of items that I can't recall from my playthroughs and I am unsure of the back-story of them, thus what is needed in the description. If anyone can enlighten me as to the 'Mutilated body parts'? Where they play a part? Are they specific to only one section or are they generic items? That sort of detail. Anything will be much appreciated. EDIT: I've just realised these are the contents of the 'Gore Bags'. Lastly a couple of WIP screenshots:
14. The description of that mod shows it isn't a 'one-click install', you will need to know what optional sections you want and follow the instructions closely. This mod isn't just a plugin and some assets, it includes an executable with DLLs and other addon features for the Caliente Body mod. The author makes it clear you will need both Caliente & UNP. If you are unsure about installing any of those mods I suggest asking in their fora as it will involve more than just download and install. Long story short, if Caliente is installed this mod will add files into that installation.
15. Can you verify if you are using Win8.x? I have Win7 and no issue exists for me regardless of the timing of clicking 'Ok' or not. The Steam client just loads, MO starts the game and all is well. While I agree it does seem to point to Steam, if we can at least eliminate the OS environment as being a contributing factor it will assist @Tannin in tracking down the culprit.
16. Can everyone verify if you have Win8.x? I've noted this issue in Nexus and it seems to only affect Win8.x users. I am on Win7 and have not seen anything like it, and my Steam client updated at the same time as everyone else.
17. You should probably create an issue in the Bug Genie and attach those dump files. Anything like that will be invaluable for @Tannin to debug that issue, whereas merely posting about it provides nothing for him to work with.
18. Going from the screenshots you posted that mod, Apachii hair, isn't packaged nicely and when you installed it you probably just hit 'OK' instead of checking it with 'Manual'. The wiki and the official videos describe in detail this process and I encourage you to check those out. Notice the name of Apachii Hair in the screenshot is 'greyed out'. This indicates the folder structure is not found in the Data folder and the game engine can't see it. Remove that mod and re-install it and when given the option, choose 'Manual' and then you will need to 'Set Data folder' on the correct folder inside the archive. As mentioned, this is described in the official documentation. Also all of Gopher's videos show him explaining this method as being the preferred option.
19. @Fullsaildan That mod will provide a bit of performance increase (not measured by any standard but since the engine won't be dealing with hundreds of extra stuff it will be free for other things) but there is IMO a better alternative, Clean-Deluxe by Jeoshua, I used this mod extensively on my previous low-spec machine but haven't used it on my current one. (also your link format is incorrect, doubled up https://)
20. Using MO it's fairly easy to figure these sort of things out. Just check in the 'Conflicts tab of the Information window and ensure this mod, or any other that you want to use, wins in the conflict. That generally means the lower in the pane, ie. the higher priority, wins.
21. How are you running the game if you don't have Steam? If you are running a pirated copy of software you shouldn't expect any help. Some may offer it, but you should do the right thing and buy the game.
22. Thanks. Yeah I thought as much, perhaps a really good wide screen is what is preferred? Going by that YouTube video I can see why there is so much chatter in the SkyUI mod page about menus being screwed, even the vanilla ones are all crapped out. One day I'll have a dedicated gaming system that leverages all this knowledge, until then, I am content with what I have. Well content may not be the correct word, resigned to it may be better.
23. Well until I can get a new system with multiple monitors, I'm still on my trusty Toshiba, for me at least your argument stands. While we're on that, how many, if any, use multi-monitor setups? Having noted a few posts on the SkyUI page about issues getting that to work properly, I'm guessing not many.
24. With EWI now MIA, you have the weird experience of three of the current "Hot Files" on the NV Nexus all linking to 'File Blocked' pages. Not looking good for those mods I'm afraid.
