For every enemy spawned that has a variant, then a random texture choice will get picked. The more variants the larger the memory use since a unique texture is required every time. If you only do giants the impact will almost not be noticeable since they normally spawn few at a time and far between. So yeah memory is effectively the only thing stressed by this.

Vividian - Weather & Lighting enhancement - CoT - RCRN and Pure Weather
Aiyen replied to Mangaclub's topic in Post Processing
Everything is easy when you spent months doing it! :P -
Well I do know of a little ENB preset called skylight which supports both CoT and vanilla weathers, as well as just about all interior lighting solutions...Oh yeah also has support for both dragonborn and dawnguard unique weathers! :o Not going to say it is the best looking! But it is quite well updated and supported as well! Sometimes the author even provides cookies.... most of the time he eats them himself though! He can be a jerk like that!
-
Skylight is based on CoT weather patch... so would be weird if that caused any issues.. but that is a story for another time! The main issue with fire on photographs is that cameras tend not to be really good at capturing it good enough. The lower exposure times only capture the really bright parts, while the will shift the tones of everything else. Also it depends on what is burning, and how the view angle is etc. As you clearly also show on your images there. But yeah if fire actually reach the size of builds etc. then it looks radically different compared to how it would look in a BBQ disk! But guess we are sidetracking with all this stuff since the thread is supposed to be about the palettes! :)
-
I know what you mean.... everything I did with skylight was essentially start a fire and then tweak it so it looked like fire. However if your idea of perfect looking fire is what you have on those screenshots, I can see we have different opinions on how fire should look! In my opinion then the fire on the screenshots is really nice for a high color fantasy theme, but no fire in real life would look that saturated. But at least it would be easy enough to get it too look that like if that is what people prefer. Guess I will take that into consideration for my fantasy color style for my next update of skylight. Always good with some inspiration.

If it still does that in v.3.0 then you got some really weird image spaces for your taverns. I know you posed this issue a while back as well, and then it was most likely true, but it really should be fixed now. Also the whole point in showing the above screenshot collage, was to show that you no longer strictly need anything but ELE image spaces... which is just what you said you prefer. As long as you use that then skylight is compatible and looks nice with all interior lighting mods.

Building your own rig is just plug and play... almost impossible to put it together wrong. If you do not want to do all the research then there are plenty of sites that provide good and decent builds, and explain the logic behind their choice. The only real issue is how much more or less expensive stuff is where you live. But mainly the argument is always going to be that you get more performance/$ then you would otherwise. Also it is far easier to RMA a single piece then to RMA the whole thing if you bought an already assembled retail rig.
-
Glossyness of a given model piece come down to how the model is setup. Some wall types have a really high amount of specular and hence will look much more shiny then others. Some textures can make this more or less pronounced.

Is there a mod that fixes Candlelight spell
Aiyen replied to dreadflopp's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Just like for torches then it is rather simple to alter how much light the spell produce. Find the relevant effect in tes5edit, and crank it up. Since there already are mods that do this then it is simply a matter of altering those without having to search for all the right forms. The reason I did not implement such a thing is that I already think candlelight is bright enough.... I like the idea that a torch is better then a simple little magic trick. Also you can get the upgraded version where you throw the ball and it sits on a wall and produce light, forgot its name. -
Well as part of my expanding plan to show that Skylight can be used for just almost every config out there I have made a nice little collage showing of all the major lighting overhauls, and how they differ. ELE is going to be a requirement.... it is simply just too silly not to use it. Default vanilla can also be used just fine! However I did not want to make a 5 image collage... they look silly. Also default vanilla have so many bugs in its lighting... and my performance is actually worse with vanilla lighting then any of the others! Kinda amusing... but mainly I guess it is because of not using Occlusion culling. Regardless.... behold da images!Â

You can find quite a few of these textures easily if you just search for it. There are quite a few... if you have some basic photoshop/gimp skills.... ie you know how the gradient tool works then you can easily make some yourself. Can produce quite a bit of funny looking stuff if you want to get creative with colors. However again only for ENB´s that obviously support that feature... Guess I should contemplate bringing back in support for it eventually.

Well since they look so nice with Skylight then I guess I better download em! :D Thanks root!

SKYRIMLE No More Glowing Edges Mod by Ftreach
Aiyen replied to DoYouEvenModBro's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Some people like it, some do not! Hence it is not really a fix, since nothing is broken to begin with. -
CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Aiyen replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Kuldebar: If any problem is not reproduce-able by a large enough amount of people, then the developers have no chance to fix anything. If they do not have the issue themselves then it is mighty hard to do anything. If they had a large amount of people who could provide feedback on a issue then it would be a different thing, but that is not the case here. Nobody is saying they do not want to look into the issue, but as it is now then from a developer standpoint then the issues a few people have most likely come back to something unique to their systems. Also I find it amusing how you link to all the people who bash at jonwd7's comment, since if you actually look at what he says then it is in no way a proper way to ask for help. And that causes the entire thing to derail further. That said then it would ofc. be nice to be able to actually get this working for more people! The best thing to do is to find people who have the issue and then start comparing hardware and what you have running in the background. If proper technical data can be presented then perhaps something will get done. Also finally thank you for at least not making a car analogy! :p -
Perhaps one day I will Cabal! :) Thanks for the info though! did not know that it was just a matter of alpha!

pack Weather and Lighting (by Smile44)
Aiyen replied to Smile44's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Just because the forms for the weather is actually there, does not mean that they load. For that you need to verify in tes5edit that the regions actually include CoT weathers. Just like you can call a dawnguard soul cairn weather in riverwood... this does not mean that it would ever happen on its own. You can get the guide on Skylight ENB´s page, it contain a section on how to do this. -

Aiyen replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Well ultimately then if only very few people have issues then it is more then likely something unique to their systems, and not the solution as a whole. As it is now then the impression I have is that it works fine for the majority, including myself. One cannot expect developers to take individual cases seriously, since it is kinda annoying to try to sort out an issue and then in the end get that little info that they where also running with program X and that was what caused it. It could be some autoupdater in the backgrond for some weird program causing issues for all we know. Or again it could just be that the hardware does not like the stress putting those settings on implies, and hence start to act up. -
STEP-recommended performance-friendly non-ENB lighting mod option?
Aiyen replied to oqhansoloqo's topic in Post Processing
Only ENB can hook into the lighting and alter it directly. SweetFX type mods can only alter the color, contrast, brightness etc. Essentially do what image space mods already do. If you want lighting altering without ENB then you need to use either ELFX, RLO, or Relighting skyrim or a mix of them if you are tes5edit savy. -
Vividian - Weather & Lighting enhancement - CoT - RCRN and Pure Weather
Aiyen replied to Mangaclub's topic in Post Processing
It is quite simple.. there is a region defined by the region boundaries, and then there is a percentage chance for a given weather to be applied in that region. Then when it gets a bit technical is if you have quests, or effects which override the current weather by assigning a new one, like clear skies shout. But it will always revert to the default region after that. Each location is linked to a specific region, you can ofc. make unique regions and then put in your own weathers that way if you wish. As for riften.. it is almost always foggy by design there. -
Oh Bro! ;) I think here it is going to be "RTFM" hehe. It clearly says that this is for default skyrim, DG, and DB, not COT. That said, then gratz on release Prod! I will ofc endorse asap! If only because you do not use a default enbeffect.fx file! :D

Like so many other snow textures this one also fails in a few areas for me! Most vitally the transition between road snow and snow is too sharp, it really is something that annoys me so I always look for that first. Also I find it a bit weird that it looks like the stones are into the snow on road rather then out of the snow. Also a few other funny issues with it that I do not want to get into since then I have to go make screenshots etc. And I do not feel like that right now! What I do like about it is the color and the general detail level, which is quite nice, and actually fit me better then what I use currently. (Cabals, and only because it has the least amount of transition visibility of all I have tried.) Guess I should try to manually edit my snow color a bit.

If it is any of the imagespace records then they need to be either patched or forwarded or the vanilla entry will take effect. However ELE also alter most of the default vanilla interior ones, so check if the one used is actually altered by ELE, if it is no patch needed. also AllSunday, thanks for the link above! Fun to see that sort of thing!
-
ELE will overwrite just about all ELFX top cell entries. Which contain the image space, and what sounds play etc. This is entirely okay! Since this is the point of the ELE image spaces. If you also use SOS you are going to need to forward the imagespace entries into that patch as well, or they wont take effect. Hope that clears it up a bit otherwise let me know and I will do a more detailed thing.

CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Aiyen replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
There is no chaos involved. Just a "simple" matter of many people who start to force their systems to deal with loads they are not capable of dealing with. And the ones where they are designed for it, then even slight variations in the actual chips can cause issues. (The common example is bad VRAM on graphics cards... even though the cards pass quality control, then they still fail when part of the users system.) It makes perfect sense that when you ask your full system to run at its bandwidth limits then you will get experiences by some people who either have not received the quality of chips they thought, or just have generally lower performance on their chips due to age. -
Problem is there is only six light sources in a given cell that can act as shadow providers.... This put a rather large limit on the amount of lighting you can put in at once. Also even though you can use that many, then it does not mean you want to, light flickering is a rather annoying issue, and depends on quite a few factors. Also the more lights that cast shadows, the more performance is drained.. depending on the quality of meshes used. A good example of this is ELFX in Jorrvaskr basement with SMIM chandeliers. In general there is no way to make skyrim truly immersive in terms of lighting, you are always going to need ambient lighting. And as statmonster says... even though it might be dark for you, does not mean it is dark for NPC´s which is even more immersion breaking then actually being able to see a bit further then what is realistic.
