I don't have an issue with the wiki being open in general just hope personal user pages have a bit of protection from random edits. After all, why else have user areas? Unfortunately, that's not how MediaWiki works. It's intended purpose is for collaboration on a global scale of information with open editing rights. While there are certain things that can be restricted based on groups, MW doesn't have any granular ACL based permissions when it comes to pages. We would need a true CMS package to do that. A user's page is also used by MW for users to communicate with each other. As Z stated, any edits that do occur are not lost. If someone happens to try to be malicious, it will only be a minor inconvenience as the page can be easily restored. In the case of User pages, you should have control over that since it is your space.

No idea why it's redirecting to Images... I forced a refresh of the guide and it's working now. -
ACCEPTED aMidianBorn Book of Silence (by CaBaL)

The output file will be titled "Book_of_Silence-Wizard.7z". It should appear just before the marker labeled "==Last==". EDIT: I had forgotten the version, and I had inadvertently undone edits so two images weren't showing in the wizard. Updated the Wiki. -

The new server has an old version of PHP on it which we didn't catch till the after the transfer was already initialized. The host is going to update PHP tonight, so for the mean-time the Wiki will be unavailable.

Wyre Bash Assistance/Mod Setup - [SOLVED]
stoppingby4now replied to Kingdestiny's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yep, and I suggested a topical series to avoid a gigantic video, which is difficult to create professionally or to view. People will do much better with 5-min short topical videos dedicated to one or two simple tasks all presented in a recommended order. Sounds good to me. I agree wholeheartedly. -
Wyre Bash Assistance/Mod Setup - [SOLVED]

I've been planning on putting some videos together for certain processes on the Wiki once things settle out more. We could certainly put our heads together and put some videos together for WB. -
SKYRIMLE Colored Nails (by Magistrate)

General rule of thumb: We expect critiquing, but it should be constructive. Some of the comments made recently have been rather pointless to this end. Let us foster an environment that leverages your enthusiasm within a culture of good humor ... and rigorous analysis! -
GUIDE Skyrim Installation Guide
stoppingby4now replied to frihyland's topic in Unofficial Skyrim LE Guides
Just responding to "Skyrim Unplugged", but I have commented out the other references to it. Part of it was already commented out, but others were missed which is why it was so out of place. -
I haven't actually played the game in well over 6 months. Only fire it up from time to time to test something. Looking forward to getting some play time in soon though.

SKYRIMLE Real Snow (by Hritik Vaishnav)

The footprints mod affects more than snow. -
Nice! I always wanted to write something to do just this, but didn't have the time. This is a much needed tool for testing.

SKYRIMLE SkyRealism - Balanced Perk Trees (by IndigoNeko)
stoppingby4now replied to MTichenor's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I don't see anyone debating that certain classes will obviously gravitate towards certain choices of armor/clothing. It really would be a blunder for a pure mage to attempt to run about wearing heavy armor. Most games of the RPG genre include armor limitations based on class, not as a means of ensuring you are smart in your choices, but because it would be much more difficult to balance the game otherwise. Reducing magic effectiveness based on the choice to wear armor is just illogical (as opposed to giving a bonus for wearing the preferred cloth attire, which may also be easier to enchant for greater effect). Concentration is as much a part of the body as the mind, true, but gaining the strength to wear certain kinds of armor is no where near the equivalent of training for your chosen skill/profession. Greater strength is only required to be able to wield to greater effect and fight in melee combat. It's even more illogical to restrict them from wearing leather armor, which won't be anywhere near as cumbersome as heavy. Were a mage to choose to wear heavy armor, they would be far less agile (relatively speaking) than a warrior whose specific training will develop far more muscle strength than the mage doing 3 sets of 10 every other day (so to speak). A warrior will fight relying on his muscles. A mage will fight relying on his mind. Fatigue can effect the mage, but it will be more mental than physical, as it's what they train. So, realistically speaking, choice of armor for a mage should give negative bonuses primarily in strength, which in turn would inhibit their movement and stamina. You won't survive long enough for any physical discomfort to begin to affect you in most cases. My point is that these limitations placed in games are often times nonsensical, but are done so because balancing the mechanics in a real-world sense would be far too costly. -

I've never understood the limitations of armor in association with classes either, and always find it has more to do with easing the burden of game balance. Wielding magic requires concentration, which armor isn't going to affect. Depending on the type of armor, however, will require increased strength. So if anything, it should be a movement penalty as mages will more naturally tend to study to improve the mind rather than grueling physical training. -

I haven't tried this mod, but I share Z's concerns. Is there any video somewhere that shows this in action? -
GUIDE [WIP] DDSopt & Texture Overhauls
stoppingby4now replied to z929669's question in DDSopt Support
It should store settings to this: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, "Software\\Bethesda Softworks\\DDSopt", if not then you use a nasty Anti-Virus which blocks it? Can't imagine anything else which could prevent registry-writes, not even UAC prevents it I think. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is a protected area of the registry, so you need Administrator rights to write to it. Anyone with UAC turned off will have no problem, but if UAC is turned on it will not be able to write. I have UAC turned on and DDSOpt wasn't remembering my settings either until I ran as Administrator. An alternative would be to store the settings in HKEY_CURRENT_USER (maybe HCU\Software\DDSOpt). -
The lighter background in Ultimo is part of the theme, and is also evident in the scrollbar (which is mostly why I like it). Of course, I so very rarely see any config window where it's light, so that doesn't bother me in the slightest. With FT DeepDark, I can spot the scrollbar easily enough when my browser is the only thing open (dark desktop wallpaper), it's just those occasions when my screen is very bright from background windows in a dim room, and the page is rather long, that it's near impossible for me to spot it on a quick glance. It's really those specific occasions that drive me nuts the most, and unfortunately they happen to me far too often :(.

The only issue is that this creates two resources to upkeep .... that seems more inefficient to meI'm saying use the Wiki instead. Previously you recommended to add some to the Wiki rather than the Nexus, and that in fact requires more upkeep. Since anything we are doing should be STEP specific (and temporary), it makes the most sense to put them on the Wiki.Except for files that pertain to the general modding community that are already on the Nexus ;) Soul Gems DifferSkill Interface RetextureGolden Gods ShrinesVisible WindowsThat's Iceetc... all of them accept for Skyrim Redesigned. If they are already on the Nexus, we may as well handle from there (especially since we control all of those Nexus 'mods' anyway) That's fine, I'm referring to STEP specific BCF's. Most should be for testing purposes anyway.

I just got crit by a wall of text! I added spoiler tags around that. Spoilers can be used as follows:
Bunch of text goes here
You can also specify a custom title:
Bunch of text goes here
-
Not available for Firefox 17 :(Â Can you just go in and edit the version to make it work or will it break? I like the NASA one but the buttons are a little too big IMO. FT DeepDark works for v17. Try it!FT DeepDark is indeed a nice theme. My only beef with it is the scroolbar. It's far too difficult to see when I have surrounding windows that are bright. I'm switching back to NasaNightLaunch (always my fallback) until 8Ultimo is hopefully updated, or a better dark theme pops up.
