Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have no info on ATI xfire setups. I don't know why it doesn't get that I use two gpu's. If you don't want to research on it use google. Maybe it works :D -
The bug is fairly old. Safe to say that it won't be eliminated too soon.

Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Very interesting find: My Skyrim Launcher does not detect my SLI setup if activated. The Rendererinfo.txt it generates says "SLI mode : no" So what I did is change "no" to "yes" and set the file to read-only. I'll check if I still get water bugs now, etc. So far I can't say there was any difference. Sadly the water bug still persists and HDR seems to be broken, too. Not sure, but maybe the performance is better? I'll try to make some test runs. Who knows? ;-) -
Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
What I always wanted to do and what I'll do right know is that I'll uninstall skyrim completely and install skyrim using my disk and steam offline, so I can test z-fighting on version 1.1 as I was sure some months ago there was no z-flicker back then. Backups are being made right now and I'll report asap. Well unfortunately this did not work out as well as I thought it would. The cd doesn't provide you with an exe file unfortunately. dammit. -
It's mostly not the cpu being too slow, it's the game's scripting engine being too crappy... so, in general it's advisable to stay short on scripting intense mods... unfortunately.

Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well be free to post any resource with useful information about texture shimmering in skyrim in this thread, also a general description of what texture shimmering actually is, would be needed... So I'll start writing that guide and you guys can chip in whenever you like, but not until tomorrow :D -
I'll do it for you! :D Great news indeed! can't wait to let em combine! :D

I'm really really bad with the wiki. :D I might just write up some text so you or sb else can convert it to wiki-format ;-) -
Black Circles, z-fighting and texture shimmering
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey guys has anybody of you interest in writing up a entry on the wiki about texture shimmering? There are certainly a lot of people around here who know what they're talking about. -
For Soul Gems to differ I think that any retex is better than vanilla, so you can't really do anything wrong. Just choose and make a quick statement why you've chosen that way and people will accept it. If they don't like your choices, they can just install Soul Gems To Differ on top of TPC and make any changes they'ld like to have. Me personally, I like the idea that soulgems are a form of "evil magic". I would go for a clean crystal look on the empty ones, but they have to look cold and mysterious at the same time (if i was on my game rig, I could provide you the details). If they are filled with the life essence of a being (human or non-human) it should look as if there was something in there. I could argue for and against a "bloody" look, but nevertheless there should be either something floating in the soul gem (it should look that way) or an aura effect to it, but nothin light, better a darker gleam/glow effect. For the empty soulgems you can also use a aura effect, like if it's reaching for something. But in the end it's all a matter of taste! :D

Lanterns of Skyrim Problem [SOLVED]
torminater replied to ath3nos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
afaik you need the lanterns of skyrim.esm activated! check whether your lanterns of skyrim .esm/.esp has any requirements you don't match in your load order, for example, that a .esm is not activated. this is most certainly your problem here. -
ACCEPTED Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (by Starac)
torminater replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
i don't know whether it works with mountains or not. Ethatron has already been asked to have a look at this matter, but he declined, since he didn't have any issues with z-fighting (using tweaks and certain lighting mods helps cover them although they DON'T fix them). So far I think nobody with CK-knowledge ever tried to fix this, especially not Bethesda who have been very reluctant to say or tell anything on that matter.- 425 replies

Combat Mods - General
torminater replied to Besidilo's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
you got the wrong link for Duke Patricks: Duke Patricks - Archery And Heavy Weapons Combat What about this mod? does it do anything else than the normal STEP ini tweaks? https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13652 If it does, it'll be worth adding. You don't want to miss a one-time-opportunity and get killed... ;-) Also More Dynamic Injuries is currently hidden. -
ACCEPTED Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (by Starac)
torminater replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The problem is, that the mountains are structured by many layers of textures of snow and rocks (clouds might be problematic, too). The LOD of the mountain that gets rendered at a certain distance has not a z-buffer-value which is precise enough that z-fighting doesn't happen, since all of those layers stick out of another and so on. It will not be texture editing. it'll be more like moving the textures and thus giving them specific z-buffer values so they don't flicker in the distance. I'll have to tell you that I don't really know anything about how to fix this, I just asked you to find out whether you know more about it.- 425 replies

ACCEPTED Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (by Starac)
torminater replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hey Starac, I'ld like to ask you a question: majin662 looked at the skyrim mountains that produced incredibly bad z-fighting with the ck (further info in this thread: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&page=24; the comments by majin662: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&pid=9476#pid9476 https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&pid=9484#pid9484) I know you did some nice mountain textures, is there any chance you could rearrange the conflicting mountain textures in a simple way that doesn't break anything completely?- 425 replies

DROPPED Shadow Striping Fix (by forum42087)
torminater replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
hmm, well it seems as if ENB is the only thing that can somewhat fix shadows. BUT I still have striped shadows on actors and almost everywhere actually. It's like a pencil hatching on the textures themselves. Is there any known fix to this? -
Combat Mods - General
torminater replied to Besidilo's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
What exactly do you refer to with "Combat Mods"? Something like Dance of Death or only alterations to the combat itself, how it works, etc.? I know sth like TK Dodge https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20923 Here are all the combat mods the nexus is listing: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/searchresults/?cat=77, although many of them aren't real combat mods. You should sort by Downloads and you'll get the very most popular combat mods out there in the first couple of pages. I've found at least 10 I've already heard about and wanted to try on the first three pages after changing the sorting. -
Holy speculation Batman!
torminater replied to Farlo's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
So what tools would somebody need to "resurrect" all the cut content? Just the CK? -
