  1. Happy new year!
  2. Merry Christmas!
  3. Honored, Gentlemen ;-) You might want to mention that these ini-tweaks are not to be taken thoughtlessly. There are issues like endless loading (I've never had 'em, but I don't play with uber textures and loads of world space editing mods like Open Cities, Warzones and such), which can happen on some systems with specific configs. On Vanilla Skyrim there are no problems with the fix at all. Also endless loading does not occur all the time, but if, then usually when going from interior to exterior.
  4. It doesn't hurt, if it's being kept here. As long as Beth doesn't provide a real fix for some really unnerving issues like z-fighting, SLI-incompatibilities and others my guide will be WIP, and will allways be adapted to the current state of the art intelligence on the matter. For this matter: Currently my z-fighting is still really bad, even if I apply my fix and I am 10000%ly sure it was NOT that bad before, otherwise I wouldn't have published my results here. At this point of time I unfortunately don't have the time to figure it out, though.
  5. Sounds interesting. If it's been tested enough I might add it to the guide, although it actually doesn't concern z-fighting-tweaks ...
  6. Can't TES5Edit show compatibility issues between mod's different esps?
  7. I played for about half an hour using the new driver without any problems. ENB .119 and SkyRealism.
  8. 1e+007 means 10,000,000, so it's a lot higher value than 5,000.
  9. Try to reduce all of the values by about the same percentage, maybe you'll find a combination which works for you. Infinite loading is a known issue. No way around it though. I can tell you, that I never had this problem on a vanilla skyrim setup with my tweaked ini. A modded skyrim is a lot more susceptible to a whole bunch more of issues, not only long loading.
  10. Well, I would recommend starting the game without mods. At least until you have a level 20 character. And THEN you can install step on top of it. It won't hurt your save. Also you can try out various "gimmicks" like ini tweaking on a vanilla skyrim to see, where exactly the limits of your uber rig lie. PLUS you'll appreciate the modded experience a lot more since you know what vanilla was like. You might as well start a new game with STEP installed and keep your "vanilla save" in a backup. Make constantly a new save, even if you end up with 300+ that's no problem. Every time you decide to add a new mod, backup your last save in a specific folder indicating which mod (and it's version number) was added, and when this was. This will help you, to revert to a "clean" save should you encounter any serious problems with the new mod. Also, go out to skyrim nexus and check the top mods listed there. Try to find a play style that suits you well. If you like anime style characters in your game there are thousands of mods which will never even get touched by STEP, since it is not considered to be so-called "lore-friendly" which means nothing else than: "it doesn't fit in the game's universe" Since this is your first elder scrolls game, read books in-game. Just do it. Try to learn about the world you're playing in, it'll help to understand what's it all about. If you have any questions as to why this and that happens/appears somewhere in the game check this wiki: https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page There is lots and lots to tell about TES and modding, but I hope this short statement will do. If you have any explicit questions which cannot be answered by the STEP guide or uesp or google, be free to ask them. There are many here willing to help you out.
  11. no, that's no problem at all :D 1e+007 is the mathematical term for 10,000,000 Afaik only chance determins whether the first or the latter appears in your ini.
  12. do you use msi afterburner or a similar utility together with skyrim? If so, you have to exit those applications and try again. To be sure: Kill all the background programs which are not windows tasks or required to run skyrim (steam). then launch skyrim. Should the problem persist, try to read up on the ENB documentation, find out what the incompatibilities are and eliminate them.
  13. Wish I had a turkey...
  14. That's why cleaning mods should ONLY be left to the mod author! TES5Edit currently is more or less a source for reference for a mod maker, how well his mod is set up and whether he needs to improve something. If cleaning ALL the mods in step with TES5Edit in it's current state will be explicitely named as a part of STEP I'll not do it. Most of the times it might work right, but it doesn't always, and who apart from the mod makers should take up the burden to verify whether every single mod they "cleaned" still works as well as before the "cleaning"?
  15. OK, I'll explain: If a mod is loaded after a mod and both change the same "object", but the first one changes it to something other than in Skyrim.esm and the second RELIES on the exact same "object" as it is in Skyrim.esm, THEN the second mod might not work. Sounds complicated - it isn't.
  16. Switch LOD Bias to 0 and Negative LOD Bias to Clamp in your Nvidia inspector. Additionally follow fris recommendation. It may or may not remove all of the shimmer for you, but it will definitely improve it. For the rest of the shimmer... just think of it being extremely well polished or a little wet. Skyrim weather is pretty unpredictable after all. Maybe the sun came out 15 seconds ago and the standing stone endured a fullgrown thunderstorm just 10 seconds before ;-)
  17. Steam just told me that it needs to convert Skyrim game content to a more efficient format which would require a couple of minutes and a internet connection. It did so after I wanted to verify the integrity of my game cache. Anybody any clues whether this might produce any problems?
  18. The human body has between 5 and 6 liters of blood... roughly 70 to 80 ml per kg body weight. But of course not all of it pulsates out of a decapitated person. What I DON'T like about this mod, is that if you hit a person during a brawl bare handed or with gauntlets even if your "Stamina" value is veeeery low blood covers the entire place as if you were gutting a pig. Not very realistic, sorry.
  19. Thanks for the feedback! :) Changed the error in my post.
  20. that's a step ini-setting.
  21. hmm never had that problem...
  22. Check ALL esp's in your load order and verify that everything is correct and all the masters are loaded BEFORE they get required. Run Boss again, and look for any warning messages that it spits out.
  23. Current hypothesis about the new DLC:
  24. Ehm, honestly, neither of those packs has any weapons in it.
