The comment above about the wind fix is in reference to the tree collision fix, and the changelog says same as summer edition which has: Wind animations should now work - credits to Sparrowprince for finding the error! I imagine if you don't put the ini tweak then you won't see the new grasses.

ACCEPTED aMidianBorn Book of Silence (by CaBaL)
EssArrBee replied to EisDrache's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
He said he was going to update the book when he is done with all the steel, iron, and orcish weapons. He posts pictures of his progress on his user site. -
I completely agree that getting 7-10 of an ingredient is far to many but I think that only happens with the mountain flowers and not across the board for every type of plant or fungus. I think those are from 1-5 which i can handle because in game I've been getting 2 or 3 of stuff most of the time which I don't think unbalances alchemy. Actually it is more immersive (hate that word) to me because I don't have to stop to harvest plants as much now and I can just run around being a normal murdering psychopath instead of a murdering psychopath that enjoys botany.

What do you think about this Uncapper Ini?
EssArrBee replied to Momitja's question in General Skyrim LE Support
So this user is actually removing the level cap of 80 because he has his skill caps set at 999, and this not usually what players want from an enhanced vanilla feel, also this user modifies the amount certain skills add to the to the player level. I can also see that there are big modifications to the perks at level up which can overpower your character. My brother turned me on to this mod and explain it to me pretty well, so I'll try to tell what each part should or how you can change it to suit your needs. The [PerksAtLevelUp] is probably the first thing you should decide to mess with, remember that perks start at level 2 not 1, so when changing the value the first entry should be 2=. I like to get 100 perks for a level 80 character playing on Expert difficulty, so the means I get 2 perks on every 4th level up, and I set the this section to 2=1.25, and yes you can use floating point numbers. So, if you like to get say three perks every two levels set it to 2=1.5. Also, this can be changed depending on the exact level like 2=1, but at level ten I want 5 perks, so no 10=5. Remember to set the next level back to 1, 11=1, or every level after 10 will give you five perks. After this it would be good to decide what you like setting you skill caps at under [skillCaps]. Default is obviously 100, but you can change this to whatever type of character you have, and I'd say set all of them to 100 then adjust according to your tastes. If you have pure mage maybe make destruction and conjuration 110 and take heavy armor and two-handed down to 90. The next section should probably be the speed skills level up under [skillExpGainMults]. The defaults are 1.0 for every skill, but if you think something levels up to fast or to slow then adjust these a little bit at time until you get them the way you want. I like to level slower, so I set them all to 0.8 to slow everything down by 20%, but I think smithing is way to fast so I reduce it even more to something like 0.7 or 0.65. The section under that is [skillExpGainMults\], and these will use a multiplier at a specific level you set. So, say something like archery which can level pretty quick for until about level 25 or 30, and then it starts to get slow and by level 50 it levels really slow. This section will let you change the strength of leveling that skill after the skill level reaches a certain point: [skillExpGainMults\Archery] 1=1.0 25=1.1 50=1.2 etc... This will increase the speed of leveling archery by 10% at skill level 25 by 20% at skill level 50, and you can adjust these as desired for each individual skill. The other sections are probably something to stay from until you get used to using the ini and what each section changes, except for the heath, magika, and stamina at level up if you don't like getting 10 points for every level then change those to something else. Hope this helps if you have anymore questions about individual sections just let me know, or ask Elys who is super helpful. -
I think the point about Ars Metallica is spot on when assessing what Harvest Overhaul does to vanilla Skyrim, you level when smithing the ore, then again when smelting the ore to ingots, then again when making the equipment which can then be smelted over again, rinse repeat. The amount of balance goes back to the heart of what a role playing game is, and you have to choose what that is for your character. Are you level spammer? or not? I can see Harvest overhaul being the same for Alchemy and speech since you can just gather tons of ingredients and make potions then sell them leveling both very quickly. If Community Uncapper is in the guide it will affect vanilla level unless you revert the whole ini back to default, which would make no sense to have it installed. With the way the guide is right now it might be useful to have a recommendation for at least part of the Uncapper ini and throw it up on the wiki, maybe even asks Elys, who seems to be the most helpful person on the nexus. This could help to solve spamming problems with certain mods because a lot of casual users will following the recommendations to the letter and will not be able to level as fast if things like alchemy and smithing have leveling reduced by say 20%.
-
This problem is already addressed by STEP with Community Uncapper, just set the alchemy skill to 1=0.75 to slow it down by 25%, not sure of the exact header name. You can use the multipliers section to slow down or speed up any skill at any level, i.e. 50=1.1 Â will make alchemy skill increase by 10%. If it is already .75 then at level 50 it goes up to .825, you get it. As for the mod itself, I like that I can get between 2-5 of some stuff like mushrooms, but with the mountain flowers it seems to give out between 7-9 flowers. That is a bit much for my tastes, but I slow down leveling quite a bit so it really doesn't make an impact.

DROPPED Terrain Bump - Texture Pack (by SparrowPrince)
EssArrBee replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
@Sparrow I'm wondering if you prefer using That's Ice over top of Terrain Bump or vice versa. I've tried it both ways and kinda like the way That's Ice is a little less reflective, but Terrain Bump does give really noticeable depth to the ice in game, looks good when walking up to larger areas with big icy walls. -
The 'n' is missing from the *_.dds -> *_n.dds. I tried to find if the engine reduces the mip-map level by 1 to match the footprint of DXT1, since half size uncompressed normals look better than full size compressed normals. I know that a few other engines do this reduction automatically, Unreal comes to mind. I mention this because if you reduce the uncompressed normals and then the engine does it again, then the normals resolution is now reduced even further and the resolution can only be reduced so much before the it does look worse in game.

Those CTDs are pretty much common with vanilla skyrim for a lot of users, even Xbox users have this issue. I doubt any logging will help you with matter, since Papyrus logs don't mention anything about cell changes and that seems to be the issue. It took me 10 days to figure out how to get inside Raven Rock Mine, I finally just loaded it up with only the mods in STEP before I could finally get in and stop getting freezes near the big wall where the ash spawn crop up. Skyrim Performance Monitor seemed to show a big spike in RAM right at the CTD, but my VRAM seemed to be flat. We might just have to wait for a patch that addresses this, but don't hold your breath.

The Felsaad Tern in Dragonborn doesn't respond to the invincible hawk fix. I tried to take some screenshots, but they don't seem to be working for me at the moment, so maybe someone else can confirm it.

If you rename the numbers at the end then you won't be able to right click on the mod and use the Open At option. This allows you to open the mods nexus page since those number directly relate to the mod's page.

DROPPED Jewels of the Nord (by Pfaffendrill)
EssArrBee replied to mothergoose729's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like the JotN or the Yuril's with JotN meshes. The rings are actually round, who would of thought. -
Perfect mod for an alchemist character, really helps if you are a class 5 hoarder or just have OCD. I always felt cheating in vanilla getting one ingredient and the whole plant is barren.

DROPPED Terrain Bump - Texture Pack (by SparrowPrince)

Yeah, I meant BC5, for some reason I was thinking DirectX>>Direct Compression>>DC5, coffee isn't working for me lately. -
DROPPED Terrain Bump - Texture Pack (by SparrowPrince)
EssArrBee replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
You would probably installed it in Section G so the normals get picked up. I think these are uncompressed textures which might have some benefit for normals in DX9, since DXT compression is terrible for normals. It would nice if we had access to DC5, I'm not totally sure, but I think DX10 is the when support for DC4/5 started. -
I can confirm that the player.addspell/removespell ID (000f71d1 I think) fix works for the draugr glowing eyes effect, though I sometimes leave it for a while because glowing eyes is pretty cool.

Replay Value of Skyrim
EssArrBee replied to Momitja's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I think with Arthmoor's Alternate Start mod you can play through Skyrim from a much different perspective and choose when to start the main quest or ignore it all together. I don't think I can play through the beginning quests again without dozing off. -
Don't forget that this mod has a compatibility patch available, it's one of Sharlikran's many patches that are cleaned and updated for Skyrim 1.8.

DROPPED Terrain Bump - Texture Pack (by SparrowPrince)
EssArrBee replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
That is very true, and what time OpticShooter does have he is devoting to WATER and Better Dynamic Snow. Not that I'm complaining because I think we all love those mods, but I wouldn't mind an update to some of his lesser known stuff like That's Ice. -

This might be the only problem: Maybe some more screens, those looked over saturated. Personally I'm a fan of using some uncompressed textures, especially for normals. -
SKYRIMLE Realistic Rocks and Mountains in Skyrim (by Benjamin318)
EssArrBee replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'd say that you guys should also look at all the mountain and rock texture mods that Pannonian has done lately. He has about seven mountain and rock texture mods, including a nice 1k 2k 4k Vanilla HD in both dxt and uncompressed and a much better normal map. He also said he got permission to use the meshes from Better Rocks and Mountains for the next version, but I don't know if he is actively working on that or not. I've been using the 2k uncompressed and they look great except that it doesn't really match when there is snow on the rocks. I don't think I've yet to find the right combination of of snowy rocks yet. Some of these mods have way higher resolution than the snow covering them which is an issue that I think most of these modders might be over looking when they design 4k rocks covered by 1k snow. -
Every time I hear "sick" being used I can't help but think of the 80s. If you are old enough to have lived through the 80s then you'll remember that before every was "sick" it was "ill". I believe the Beastie Boys were the biggest promoters of "ill" things.

I wanted to try some ENBs since a few have been updated the last few days, and after installing Phinix Natural ENB plus testing it for about an hour (which is awesome by the way), Wrye Bash will not start anymore. I have the latest SVN of WB and I have used a few ENBs before, but this is the first time I've really ever had a problem with WB. I reinstalled the v303, it didn't start, and then tried to reinstall the SVN and it still won't start. The only thing I can think of is the ENB and WB don't get along somehow. Has anyone else experienced this before?Â
-
Wow, playing with this ENB is amazing. It was just updated for the latest ENB v0.149. Here's what changed: I've been using with COT and RLO and on top of the current 2.2.1, and Vurt's Punish your machine edition and Pannonian's uncompressed 2K mountain and rocks textures. The FPS drop is actually worth it, since you'll just be standing around looking up at mountains and forests.
