Really? I didn't notice it in the description, but if Elys made it then it probably does 5000 different things.

Maybe this can be extended so the damn volume controls work from the keyboard.

Error When Applying BCFs
EssArrBee replied to NiennaNenmacil's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The new packages will end up being put right before the ==Last== marker in WB when sorted by install order, so it is good practice to click the Packages tab to sort by name. Then find the mod you want to convert, apply the conversion and the new packages will pop up next to the mod you just converted since they will have almost identical names. After that, the order number is next to the mods so just move the new old to the old ones number, easy peasy. Oh, and just ignore the error message. -
Question about STEP 2.B Utilities
EssArrBee replied to peppergomez's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You should use one of the mod managers to install the mods so yes they come first, also the optimizers are for the use with the textures and should probably be used before installing a bunch of stuff on top of the vanilla stuff. It is recommended that you follow the optimization guide to the letter if using DDSopt on the Skyrim vanilla textures and the HRDLC. TESVEDIT and BOSS are for after you install mods and are ready to clean the mods and put the esps in the right order. -
I bet you would end re-optimizing a bunch of files since a bunch of the mods STEP uses have already been optimized. I probably would skip all the armor/weapons from Cabal and also the water and nature stuff from sparrow and vurt. In the end all the stuff you'd tell DDSopt to skip would take an hour.

In Uncapper just go into the ini and set bAutoUpdate=1, it should work for Skyrim updates. Since this update is going to have some changes to the leveling system it might not though.

ACCEPTED Ultimate HD Fire Effects (by BuzzDee84)
EssArrBee replied to JudgmentJay's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This has been updated again to v1.9 and it is a 4k-8k resolution version which I believe is a bit to much for STEP (or really anybody). The old version has been rebranded as medium. Most of the files in medium are 2k-1k res, so that is probably the in line with STEP. Low res is more 1k-.5k res if anyone needs the space. -
The BCF for Skill Interface Retexture is still for v5.0, but the mod has been put in WB format so a bcf is only needed if someone wants to write a wizard. The current wizard.txt in the archive is just a blank text file. EDIT: Also, on the Dawnguard version the Wizard installer has an error. Line 34: SelectSubPackage "20 Vampire Version" should be SelectSubPackage "20 Vampire Version - Red"

ACCEPTED aMidianBorn Book of Silence (by CaBaL)
EssArrBee replied to EisDrache's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Looks like Cabal is done with scaled armor, so expect an update very soon. I really hate waiting when the work is such high quality. -
Infinite loading screen when fast travelling from Solstheim to Skyrim
EssArrBee replied to DaBozz's question in General Skyrim LE Support
This is actually a problem with the vanilla game so adding a bunch of mods with only make it worse. It took me about 10 fresh installs and removing a bunch of mods to finally get inside of Raven Rock Mine. -
Realistic compared to Earth, because Nirn has two moons which would completely change the weather. It would be a lot more violent and every moment would be struggle for life. Not sure if that would make a fun game, but the vanilla weather is definitely not realistic.

Which ice puddle textures?I believe the offending texture is actually a normal map->textures->architecture->windhelm->whroughgroundwet_n.dds This is included in WATER and it looks good to me, but I wouldn't run DDSopt over any of sparrow p's work, unless converting the format of his normals from DXT to whatever is recommended by ethatron.

SKYRIMLE Perfect Legionnaire - Imperial Armor Reforged 4-0
EssArrBee replied to DoYouEvenModBro's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I use this mod too, I was still a casual STEP user when they decided to remove all the armor and clothing mods, but I understand the decision since a bunch of the included ones were left over from before the HDDLC was released. I'm not sure if anyone re-evaluated all the ones that were removed, but this mod deserves a second look. This mod plus the legionnaire armor in Immersive armors (originally from Lore Friendly Armor if I'm not mistaken) made the Imperials look awesome. -
Skyrim Beta 1.9!!!
EssArrBee replied to torminater's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Uncapper will probably have to be changed a bit, but Elys has been very quick to release updates to the mod, so it shouldn't be a problem. If anything, Elys will take this update and find a way to make leveling even more customizable. I really hope this legendary difficulty is more than just increasing health points that enemies have. Master difficulty is so boring just sitting around hacking away at some enemy. I want to be challenged by smarter enemies not just really strong, but stupid ones. -
Various issues requesting assistance
EssArrBee replied to Ezekiel33's question in General Skyrim LE Support
3) I've turned down my volume settings in the in-game menu and then forgot about it. Spent a couple hours trying to figure out what it could be that made the game so quiet. Maybe you did the same? -
CTD New Game, Open World Space, STEP 2.2.2
EssArrBee replied to Jnipz's question in General Skyrim LE Support
In your load order all those mods that are listed after Bashed Patch, 0.esp should be moved to the correct place manually unless they are SkyProc mods. BOSS will not recognize everything so some mods you have to place on your own. Example: the Footprints - Ash.esp should go after Footprints.esp. Also, deactivate RaceMenuPlugin.esp, lots of people have problems with that. Don't know it's linked to freezes and CTDs out in the open, but can't hurt. -
Hey Farlo, I mentioned in the dev thread that Ars Metallica wiki page has an error under the Description heading. Don't know if you saw it.

Updating bigger mods like SFO
EssArrBee replied to Thc002's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
No, but SFO is, there are some texture mods that get weird like Enhanced Blood Textures because it is both textures and blood effects that use scripts. It is a pain keeping track of each mod but once you know how to do it and for which mods, it gets easier. I've never had any problem updating EBT, even if I don't follow the procedure on the mod's site, but I don't recommend that for anyone to attempt. It's up to you. It's safe if there is no esp otherwise get some advice if you aren't totally sure. -
From the Jaysus Swords page get the 13c and 13c to 13d update, and from the compatibility page there is only one file that you need, JSwords_Compatibility_Patch. The compatibility patches will replace the esps that come with the original mod so that it is up to date with the current Skyrim version 1.8, 1.9 is still in beta so don't know if it will work if you've upgraded.
-
Yes, it's okay just remember that there is a compatibility patch for this mod you need. Get it here.

Updating bigger mods like SFO
EssArrBee replied to Thc002's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
SFO is a texture mod so updating is okay, if you are using a mod manager then just uninstall the current version, install the new version. SFO doesn't have any special directions. Don't try this stuff manually, leave that for people that hate life. -
Updating bigger mods like SFO
EssArrBee replied to Thc002's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
You want to follow the directions on the site of mods like that. The general procedure is to start skyrim->open console->type 'stopquest AUA' (it's AUA for Auto Unequip Ammo, but different for each mod, probably listed on the mod page or the readme)->save game and exit skyrim->remove old version and install new version->start skyrim->save again just to be safe. It's probably a good idea to check if you need to do this for mods ahead of installing them so you know what you are getting into. It's very easy to forget this procedure if you have a bunch of mods that require you to do a bunch of stuff to upgrade. I have ton of ruined saves from using the follower's mods and not uninstalling properly. -
Wasn't the vanilla set to 100 or 1000 or something really low? Maybe just lower it but don't remove the tweak from your ini because that could bring back crashes in larger interiors.

Updating bigger mods like SFO
EssArrBee replied to Thc002's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
A mod that adds textures is safe to upgrade without clean saves. Where you want to watch out is mods that use scripts to track or trigger events or stats. For STEP the best example could be Auto Unequip Ammo which has an update procedure on it's nexus page. The large texture mods can just be overwritten and they will not corrupt your save games.
