  1. I use a laptop for gaming so I don't really have to mess around with monitor settings. I use the cinematic preset with SkyRealism though. I've never tried to the warm preset. Cinematic seem to be a good balance of colors and vibrancy and has the most natural feel, in my opinion. As far as the artifacts and NPC goes, I'll have to look more into all your settings. I've never seen this before so you've provided a challenge.
  2. Yes it is! SkyRealism is compatible with all the major lighting and weather mods; Climates of Tamriel (CoT), Realistic Lighting with Customization (RLwC), and Realistic Colors and Real Nights (RCRN). I personally use RCRN with my installation. CoT will not be a part of the STEP installation in the next release because lighting and weather mods are too personal of a choice. We'll eventually offer optional packs for these types of mods.
  3. I don't think it's in the current STEP to set the files to read-only. It will be in the next release. :) You can disable SSAO in the enbseries.ini file if you want to keep using Project ENB. Find the [EFFECT] section and look for EnableAmbientOcclusion=true and change it to false. Personally, I use SkyRealism with the Cinematic preset. It's a really good and stable ENB. I don't like the over-saturated colors in Project ENB. If you haven't yet, I'd highly recommend you reading through our ENB Guide. I just finished updating it.
  4. Thanks! So is the current beta version recommended for use? Right now have the stable DDSopt 0.7.3 downloaded.
  5. Mine stays steady at around 1018MB with a full STEP installation and I rarely experience any stutter while gaming. Like I said, texture resolutions are going to be your make or break with a full STEP install on 1GB VRAM. I would say with 1GB you would be be hard pressed to run a full STEP installation over 1600x900 (and it's 4:3 equivalent).
  6. You're welcome! Skyrim will reset the INIs whenever you open the launcher and change any settings. It's recommended to change the INI files to "read-only" to prevent Skyrim from overwriting your edits. If they have been overwritten, simply go through the INI Tweaks again on the guide and then change the files to read-only. I'm not really sure what is causing this issue though, I'll have to do some more research and get back to you unless someone with more experience chimes in.
  7. Â By not running at insanely high resolutions. :P Check the Hardware Guide (video card section on that page) for a quick look on how screen resolution affects performance. You'll need nothing less than (to run at 2560x1600 resolution): AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB nVidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB I run at 1366x768 on my laptop with a GTX 460M, never use texture resolutions over 2048x, and always opt for the 1024x resolutions if they are available so to better manage my 1GB VRAM.
  8. Modify a few of your SkyrimPref.ini parameters and then check again for the the issues: bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 bTreesReceiveShadows=1 bDrawLandShadows=1 bShadowsOnGrass=1 fGamma=1.0000These are necessary for ENBs. If you don't like the shadow options, you can leave them on "0" but bFloatPointRenderTarget has to be set to 1. Our ENB Guide may be helpful. EDIT: Here is how to clean your dirty mods: https://ck.uesp.net/wiki/TES5Edit_Cleaning_Guide_-_TES5Edit
  9. I'm getting ready to DDSopt my vanilla textures. Which version of DDSopt is currently recommended? Also, I've never used it on the Hi-res DLC BSA files before, do I still need the ESP files once they're unpacked and optimized as I'm not planning to repack them and only use the loose files.
  10. Welcome! and glad to have you on board! I'm not too picky when it comes to the map but I'm sure the others will have ideas and suggestions for you!
  11. You could probably create a bash patch to house all the ESPs that you wish to use; however, I can image that the performance hit for using this entire mod would be quite hefty. Especially after seeing the author's quote, "Only for owners \"supercomputers\"!".
  12. I just looked at the HTML5 slider comparisons... I have to say that it looks pretty good. I'll have to test it out in-game later.
  13. Interesting... I've never experienced that before.
  14. Sorry it took so long. In just the one scene below, you can see all the extra distant details provided by this mod. These are details, that in the real word, you would normally be able to see from this distance. This mod mainly only works on larger objects: rocks, trees, etc. and this is where the immersion and realism comes from. Instead of these objects "popping in" when you get closer, they're already there and as you can see...there is quite a lot of detail. The FPS hit was 4 FPS loss from having this mod activated. Distant Detail on >> Distant Detail off >> Area affected by Distant detail. *The far distant detail on the mountain is a bit hard to see due to the gallery shrinking the images, but it's definitely noticeable in-game.
  15. Good ENB, but a little "drab" for my tastes. At least from what I can tell from the screenshots, this ENB has a very light "bleak-style" overlay. I like more vibrancy and color from my ENBs like SkyRealism - Cinematic or True Vision - Natural provide. But, if I was ever to use a bleak-style mod, this would probably be it.
  16. I'll post some before and after screenshots, after I get some shut-eye, so you can see what the mod is doing. Look for them sometime tomorrow (later day).
  17. Thanks, got them all fixed.
  18. The image that I upload for this guide are broken. (comparison tab)
  19. That sounds about like an average loss for an ENB.
  20. To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm suppose to be seeing. I'm sure the still shots don't portray what you're describing enough for me to understand. I will tell you that STEP decided not to include the parallax textures because of issues, especially when combined with ENB. There is an ENB setting that is suppose to fix the parallax issues, but I've never tested it because I've never used the parallax textures. You'll find it under [FIX] in your enbseries.ini file. The parameter is FixParallaxBugs=(false, true). Setting this to true is suppose to change the shaders used for parallax textures allowing the ENB to render the textures correctly.
  21. I don't think most, including myself, had such a heavily modded Skyrim and none that I'm aware of used the Monster Mod/wars (most of them were Steppers and most followed the STEP view of staying vanilla friendly). Personally, I dislike DOF so I turn it off anyways. I also disable SSAO and change the bloom quality to 1 if it isn't already. None that I know of were using the forced AF in the enbseries though, because regardless of what Boris says, most research has found it to be more stable to force it through the video card instead (I have done this to 16x AF using nVidia Inspector). I dare say that might have been one of your issues. Did you try it both ways? Forcing through ENB and then through the video card to see it the card forcing was more stable? No need to do so if you didn't...I'm merely curious. Detailed shadows have never been an issue from what I've heard and I have disable the vinigrette bars also because I don't like them either.
  22. I find these results strange as SkyRealism has always been the most stable and performance easy ENB that I've tested. I've got this same feedback from all others that have used SkyRealism as well to support my testing....until now. :? You're honestly the first I have heard that had issues with SkyRealism other than not liking the presets.
  23. Can anyone tell me if there is a point to the "final checklist" procedure? I have never done this, have never had an issue from not going it, and it seems pointless to me.
  24. What issues does Afterburner cause in Skyrim? Just wondering. I use it to overclock the GPU and I use the OSD to measure fps, Vmem, OC setttings, temp and fan speed. None as far as I know, but it may be incompatible with ENB when it's running the OSD. Maybe that was it... I haven't been able to find the article I read.
