SKYRIMLE Player Headtracking (by Maegfaer)
TechAngel85 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I just uninstalled it and cleaned my games of it according to author's instructions. Then reloaded each save. No issues of corrupt saves. I'd just rather not deal with the constant disabling since I'm going to be testing for STEP. -

This has been a long haul for this mod to be accepted or denied. I can only speak from my experience. I've used it almost from day one since I stumbled upon STEP 6 months ago and have never had any issues with it. This would lead me to believe that this mod might cause random issues for an unknown set of modders for unknown reasons. Scanning the mod forums (which I hadn't done in a good while) results in the same issues popping up that I mentioned in the poll. Still, why it works perfectly for some and bugs out for others is a mystery that is probably buried in the scripts somewhere (source code is available if anyone who dares to or knows how to script). The mod authors also seems to be MIA since January of this year when he "fixed several glitches and errors". Since it's not going to be approved I'll probably uninstall it for my personal games to eliminate some scripts and not having to worry about disabling it for testing new STEP mods. -
Remember to check the OP for the compares we need.

Thought we were on a bi-weekly update and it was just updated to 2.2.4...unless I'm a week behind which is very possible with how busy RL has been lately. Been working 4:30am to 3pm all this week and next.

Does Wet & Cold snowy effect work on NPCs and creatures too bc Get Snowy does. We'll need to figure that out.

Haven't had time... this weekend maybe.

RL is keeping busy this week (40+ hrs at work). But I should have time to grab some captures and test a little more tomorrow and this weekend. I've been wanting to do this for months so I'm gun-ho about it! :D -
DROPPED Skyrim Weapon De-LARP-ification Project (by MadCat221)
TechAngel85 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
That was Torminater that posted the pic. :P -
It was dropped due to a lot of scripting and scripts being very hard to test. Also, some users were getting mixed results from the mod. Personally, I've never had an issues with it.

I covered that above, but I'll take some comparisons of them as well and post. -
Will this always be the case or just with the current releases of the mods?

More compares, including underwater are on the way. I have FRAPS running during the captures and didn't notice any difference in performance between the two. I'll do a more through eval of the performance tho too. I have to say, I'll probably be switching to Pure Waters. -

Can't click that either, Z. Rpsgc, didn't report it in the new poll when he voted though. No one else has reported any issues other than head tracking which is mainly fixed with the proper settings in MCM. Stopping rarely comes in here and Farlo had been MIA for a while. -

A Comparison of Water Mods
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Got busy with RL. Here's my TESVedit analysis of both mods: TESVedit shows us that while WATER carries over most of the default values from vanilla, Pure Water does not. PW changes most of the vanilla values for fog, reflectivity, refraction, colors, and speculars. This is mainly to achieve its transparency effects and in an attempt to be more "pure". The one down side to these changes, is that it makes PW conflict with several weather and lighting mods. The result of these conflicts is that PW's transparency is negated...nothing major, but it's a big part of the mod. It is also not compatible with any mod that changes the fog (so the author says). There seems to be no conflicts with USKP for either mod (in what TESVedit shows) and I tested Pure Waters with the new version of Climates of Tamriel. CoT was notorious with messing up PW's transparency; however, I found no issues in multiply locations and in multiple weathers with PW's transparency with the new CoT v3. Both mods are compatible with all DLCs and both include an optional rain ripple effect (as does CoT and all three are about the same in quality). In addition, Pure Water has optional textures to use for the texture around the river shores and beds which are pebble/rock textures that are of good quality. Pure Water uses only 3 different textures for all the waters in Skyrim. These textures are for the default waters, for "calm" waters, and for "rough" waters. Here is the list where each is used: Textures is where WATER shines. WATER provides 6 different textures used for different water areas in Skyrim. Here is the list where each texture is used: This information isn't all that important. I just wanted to provide it for the sake of completely covering the mods. I haven't learned the CK yet, so looking more in-depth at the changes the mods make (water direction flows, etc) is going to be impossible for me at the moment. -

SKYRIMLE Player Headtracking (by Maegfaer)
TechAngel85 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
After analyzing the poll, only one voter experienced all the issues which leads me to think there was something else going on there besides just this mod. The only real issue I see from the poll is the head turning which can be reduced down to improper settings, as Torminater pointed out changing the settings fixed that issue (which if the OP is read it says to change those settings anyway). The author also provides some solutions if the mod isn't working properly on his Nexus page though I've never had to use them If approved, we might want to add a note saying to skip it if you play in 1st person. For those of us that play in 3rd person, it really adds a level of immersion when your player turns his head to look at the person that is speaking rather than stare straight ahead as if he was being yelled at by a drill sergeant. When packs are introduced later, this could be transferred into a pack of some kind. I also already created the mod page on the wiki for it a long time ago. I'd add some detailed instructions to the page, but I guess only Admins can do that? -
A Comparison of Water Mods
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Pure Waters has to amend some flow directions too. Case in point is the 4th compare in the video, and it's the reason I included it. In this scene there is a waterfall behind me and the river in front. The flow direction should be from my back to my front; however, you'll notice that it is from side to side (shore to shore) in both vanilla and in WATER. It's completely unrealistic because water doesn't flow like that in a river. Pure Water corrected this by changing the flow direction in this area to be more realistic. So there is proof that Pure Waters does amend some flow directions. Here are my winners: 1. Pure Waters 2. Pure Waters (feels more realistic around this dock. The other too are flowing too fast for such an inlet.) 3. Pure Waters 4. Pure Waters 5. Water (only real difference here are the ripples from the geysers) 6. Pure Waters (very smooth surface) 7. WATER/Pure Water (can't decide) 8. Pure Water (notice the shore line fixes here from WATER and PW over vanilla) 9. Pure Water (notice the rocks in front of the second waterfall. You can see to the bottom with PW. This is realist because the water is only hip to chest deep) When it comes down to it, I like certain parts of WATER and certain parts of PW. A meshing of the two would be perfect; however, taking in the overall scene and other criteria, PW wins for me. Personally, I like extra transparency because I find it realistic. The Skyrim environment is one that was before industrialization. Back in these times, the waters were often very clear and you had no issues seeing to the bottom of most rivers. You can still find many place like that here in Oklahoma. I can recall a summer camp one year in my youth with a river that you could go kayaking on. The water in this river was like glass. You could see straight to the bottom where such clarity it was like the water wasn't even there; though, the water was nearly 12 feet deep! I'm planning on doing another video within the next week with different locations around Skyrim and will post it here. I'll also be provide a more detailed analysis of both mods in regards to changes they make. -
ACCEPTED Ultimate HD Fire Effects (by BuzzDee84)
TechAngel85 replied to JudgmentJay's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Either is fine as long as it's in-game. Some of the programs that allow you to test in a testing environment (as Z found out) isn't up to par with the in-game lighting.
