Windows 10 - Overall Review and Modding
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Banter Inn
That's all good, but sounds like you have to do this for each individual update and after it's installed. It's not a "switch this off" to disable all automatic updates. Not ideal at all, but at least it's something. -
Windows 10 - Overall Review and Modding

Nothing for me yet besides Nvidia pushing out an update for Windows 10, but I'm planning on waiting a few months before I make the move. -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx

If you're going to customize your setup outside of STEP, you're going to have to learn how to do some custom patching. There is no way around that. You can use the STEP Extended Patch as a base and create your custom patch from it. This requires learning xEdit which we are, with the help of the community, making a Guide for. We're trying to get out users more comfortable using xEdit as it's an essential tool for stability and really isn't too difficult to learn. -

You can skip Inspector. It does reveal extra settings that aren't found in the CP most of the time. You can't skip Papyrus Utils because it's needed for DynDOLOD. You can't. You'll have to re-run the installer every time you want to use a different one. Or you can extract the archive and copy and paste the files from the folder...Same difference. -
Yep, not sure what you mean by "invisible clone".

With an 80% efficiency power supply, that would be only 400W. I'm running a 600W PSU for a GTX 760 and Core i5 (Haswell). The 760 has a recommendation of a 500W PSU. The GTX 770 recommendation is a 600W PSU: https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications

I use the defaults for each. I also use SMAA. It's nice. You don't have to do a reinstall if you want it gone later, but since ENB doesn't support driver AA, you'll be wanting SMAA. You can open the injector.ini file that's included with it to change the setting. You could probably handle one of the higher settings for it. The Inspector Guide is here: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:NVIDIA_Inspector Hey now! I just updated that not too long ago so it's fairly current! (June 18th) -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
TechAngel85 replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
We're already reviewing dropping this mod from STEP for the next release. We have several old mods that have been in STEP for a long time which we will eventually review if necessary. For example, SFO versions will be getting a review as well as the grasses. -

Relighting Skyrim (RS) and ELE are in the STEP Guide. -
Most on-board sound is efficient in most cases these days.

This is interesting. I do have a quest for that Shrine and you get it from a person(s) walking along the roads in Skyrim. I'd be curious if the users having this issue have A) discovered the location yet B) do or do not have the question for the Shrine. -
I hate PayPal. Much rather use another service. I definitely don't have an account with them!

Windows 10: The Elephant in my Office
TechAngel85 replied to whitewolf87's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Testing it out, I didn't have any real issues with modding Skyrim. This was a fresh install so I don't know how an upgrade will work. I know Hishutup has been running it for some time without any real issues as well. Personally, I'll be waiting for a while before I do the upgrade. At least enough time for some bugs to be ironed out that will inevitably show up. -
SKYRIMLE Insignificant Object Remover (by akkalat85)

I still need to test it in place of this mod. Not had much free time to do anything lately. -
Hair, clothes, claws, feathers, skin...all improved.

I use Vividian weather's because it's less of a hassle. CoT typically needs some custom patching so I don't recommend it for newbies. I also prefer ELE combined with RS for the lighting but I like to stay close to vanilla so those are just my preferences. -

Yeah, Vividian would be your go-to for that. -
Thanks for the feedback. We're aware that some users are experiencing differences in that step but the cause hasn't really been determined.

You can skip DDSopt entirely as long as you use the STEP Optimized Textures. DynDOLOD looks intimidating but it's really not. -

The compilations will be all or nothing. STEP really shouldn't take more than 6-8 hours for even a noob to complete (downloading the mods is probably the most time consuming) if you just follow the Guide from start to finish. If you do all the extra stuff on the side, then you're looking at more time. Modding is a skill and has to be learned like any other skill. If you don't do it yourself, then you won't learn anything and will be stranded when you run into problems...and you will run into issues. Everyone does at some point. -
UltraHD - Stormcloak and City Guards (by FrankFamily)

I was of the same opinion as DY. The vanilla textures aren't that bad, imo. The only nice addition is the hold symbols, as mentioned. -
Going from STEP: Core to STEP: Extended and a few other things.

I'd recommend doing some searching in the forums. Most of your questions have already been answered. -
DROPPED NARC - No Animals Report Crimes (by Pharros)
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This is why I like Harvest Overhaul. It removes money from animals while making harvesting more realistic. Only issue is it makes alchemy extremely easy to level up. -

TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I said this in a Staff topic and I'll say it here... WTF Bethesda!? Animals reporting crimes makes no local sense. Not even in the Skyrim world where the dragons talk in their own language, but the animals...The birds chirp, the dogs bark, the cows moo, the mudcrabs, well...mudcrab. You don't see the chickens saying, "hey! I don't know if anyone cares, but this guy over here is stealing the potatoes!" I'll be adding this as soon as I get home!
