Why Elder Scrolls Online fails to Deliver (for me)
redirishlord replied to Uhuru's topic in General Game Discussion
@ Aiyen, happy & surprised to see your post (worried I was a little necro with mine). True, CR is definitely a veteran (and not just for space sims if you remember early 90s computer gaming). As far as realistic & resources he has stated he initially hoped to reach $5mil in crowd funding as a stretch goal (but was prepared to proceed with less). I think StarCitizen's success will show others what is possible, and change the process going forward (I hope so, I think AAA publishers have created a stifling environment that holds back rather than promotes all the wonderful talent out there - from basements & boardrooms). Perhaps SC's success ignites additional interest in current crowd funded efforts (Planescape? Nexus modders efforts to break into the "professional" scene - I'm likening them to college or Olympic atheletes going pro). It's a good thing for the entire scene I think. Another point not to be missed, in the context of this thread or in general, StarCitizen is for the PC, no console support is intended in the design. Therefore PC players aren't being held back by the needs of console users (something I would have loved in TES5, port to console after don't bake it into - nerf - the original design). As for the apples (space sim) to oranges (mmo/rpg) comparison, admittedly guilty. I think its still possible for a brave visionary to break the WoW mold and redefine the MMO scene for the better, more possible since StarCitizen's funding success. I wish the MMO gamechanger would have been ESO, but it doesn't appear that's the case. Look at that, back to topic ;-) -
STEP type guide for Fallout New Vegas

Looks like I overestimated my pc's (or FNV's) ability to cope with my need to over-mod. I'm not getting past the game's initial loading screen (ILS before intro/start menu). I'm uninstalling mod packages from my BAIN archive systematically to determine which straw broke the install's back. Will post more as I know more, feel free to post suggestions if you have any :-) -
I agree that the Game Booster features don't amount to much, however the RAZER Synapse program that configures their controllers (like the Nostromo keypad & thumbstick that I use with a trackball mouse to play Skyrim & everything else) is really nice. It saves controller configurations online (so it works on multiple pcs updating my config changes in realtime) and switches profiles automatically (so I don't have to remember to re config when I set aside Skyrim & dust off FNV for an afternoon). Really, I just adore that Nostromo gamepad partnered with a trackball!

Why Elder Scrolls Online fails to Deliver (for me)

Re- your last paragraph & the subsequent request for an example, check this out (seriously its worth a glance) https://robertsspaceindutries.com/funding-goalsTour the sites main pages, its pretty amazing that this is an entirely crowd funded game. Really shows where you can go with enough drive and vision, and no AAA publisher. Just think what this model would mean for an epic fantasy RPG title. -

STEP type guide for Fallout New Vegas
redirishlord replied to Synixtrix's topic in General Fallout 3 Discussion & Support
I prefer BAIN myself, so just Wrye Flash in the case. I started to install MO, but like with Skyrim I discarded it before successfully setting it up. I've added an organizing suffix to the various mods for ease of archive, installed, tweaked the order to avoid conflicts indicated by Wrye and bashed a patch. Edited ini files per your interface suggestions and tweaked for Enhanced Blood and ENB. Got 4gb and SKSE sorted, now I just need to wrap up the some RL and actually play the darn thing. I'll be back tomorrow or next with a gameplay report. If you can suggest a suitable place for it I can share my install order, and how I sorted the esp files unrecognized by BOSS. That's going to take a bit of space, and I need to take it for a spin & gather some empirical evidence that its stable, so feel free to suggest how much & where I should post. -
STEP type guide for Fallout New Vegas
redirishlord replied to Synixtrix's topic in General Fallout 3 Discussion & Support
I'm really surprised more STEP members haven't jumped on the FO3/FNV experience. There is a vibrant modding community with lots of cross-over from TES3/4/5. I was very thankful for the FNV mod guide by EssArrBee linked above in this thread. I used that as a foundation and then scaled it up to 227 mod packages using WryeFlash/BAIN to manage it (not a MO fan). I've added ewi65's E enb for FNV and look very forward to a hardcore (meaning the vanilla hardcore option which has realistic needs built in) playthrough kicking off this weekend. -

SKYRIMLE Equipping Overhaul by Dragondude 1029
redirishlord replied to mightyusaid's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Equipping Overhaul incorporates the Geared Up, and Drop Lit Torches, and if the update scheduled for Friday 14/02/14 works as intended, Dual Sheath Redux (the patcher, not the packs) functions in one package with additional immersive options (dropping weapons when switching on the fly instead of sheathing first). -
I would love to see a mod (shame I don't have the know-how to pull it off) that makes magic staves blunt weapons by default (melee/block functions) but when equipped add their "staff spell" to the player's magic menu. Then I can choose which combination of functions I desire at any given time; attack & cast, cast & block (what I'm really interested in if playing a mage). Not sure how to address npc use (what two functions to use by default?). Anyway, the idea gives me serious wood. Back on topic, Improved Staff Use seems to be an amplification of the vanilla system that reduces staff usage cost by relevant magic skill. A crutch, if you will.
-
I've been enjoying it, there are currently a variety of position options configured on install. Many dagger positions, vertical & belt quiver positions - the great weapon will be parallel to the quiver, so keep that in mind. According to the mod author this is compatible with dual sheath redux, xpms, & equipping overhaul. I've been using all the above and haven't had any conflicts. Looking forward to the next version myself.

SKYRIMLE Dawn of Riften (By BluePianoTwo)
redirishlord replied to IrishBandit's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I place it at the end of my order but before my bashed patch, I have 8 unrecognized mods ("Hi, I'm Eric and I'm a mod addict") so it's easier to keep them at the end until recognized. No issues so far. -

Can't wait to embrace the madness, I have a save in Markarth pre- House of Horrors. Installing now, let's see if I can go Riddick all over the Vigilant's arse. Where's my teacup ;-) -
SKYRIMLE Markarth - The White City by FrankFamily

I agree with you, but enjoying it for the moment. Here's a couple of close ups, I think my previous had some DoF blurring them; -
Yes, and with Serenity (props to prod80) you won't have my CoT dark water issues. My values are cranked beyond what paganmetalfan (Watercolor author) recommends, as I was trying to compensate for darker water. I'm still not finished tuning, need more time in game to get it "just right". In regard to Boris' latest updates, I'm very excited about ENB weathers. Natural Lighting and Atmospherics with Therion ENB once ewi65 finishes his work also interests me.

I'm posting this in case you find the information useful, otherwise feel free to disregard. I use Realvision enb version .250 option B Full. I have Climates of Tamriel, its Weather Patch and Realistic Water 2 installed. I set enbseries values; SunScatteringMultiplier=5.00, SunLightingMultiplier=0.20, Muddiness=0.20 Seems to help the CoT dark water effect to an extent. Looks bright from a distance but dark close up in some CoT weathers of course that varies by location and time of day but overall very nice look and clarity I tweaked my enbseries values; SunScatteringMultiplier=7.00, SunLightingMultiplier=0.20, Muddiness=0.12 This is still Realistic Water 2 + Watercolor for enb under Realvision option B full with its essentials. As you can see, water is still dark under CoT overcast weather, but it has more clarity. Higher SunScatteringMultiplier & Muddiness give more color to the water, which I find too tropical in appearance.

No, ewi65's custom ini files, high for ugrids 7 (available on Nexus). Should be an Ulta hybrid with performance & STEP tweaks. From mod description: "Same resolution as official Hi res DLC, good performance & good quality." I've only installed and played, no real investigation on my part. It feels a little Ayleid/Minas Tirith to me, and I'm enjoying that. I wouldn't recommend it for STEP Core, I just posted my experience with it to contribute to the thread, not to advocate for it's inclusion. -

I have some after shots, taken with Realvision ENB & ELFX, probably just good to give you a flavor; Looks like I do have a before, but it may not be apples to apples (possibly different version of Realvision &/or RLO instead of ELFX) but its what I got -
Wins for ease of entry (install instructions & author/community support) and frequency of updates (almost as fast as Boris, ha ha). With three main options plus full and performance versions, its easy to find a look that's great for you.

I think this mod is outstanding. The configuration options via the in game manual are great and allow a greater or lesser illumination radius, fuel consumption, and the ability to have it extinguish when sneaking. Also, torchbug lanterns on my followers posteriors have eliminated countless "blue on blue" incidents, so another +1 for safety. A must if you use lighting mods like ELFX / RLO with dark dungeons. As for the lore angle, Dunmer have had paper & bug lanterns since Morrowind. As for burn concerns, I'm wearing full plate I think I'll be fine. In fact in frozen Skyrim I can use a "bits" warmer, I'm moving it to belt front (another option, love options).

I love it myself, and having Dwemer architecture in Skyrim match is a must. The metal bits are unchanged so it works for me. But that's just me, I wouldn't expect something like this in STEP Core. Really beautiful work, its staying in my personal build. -
SKYRIMLE SSME- Skyrim Startup Memory Editor
redirishlord replied to mightyusaid's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I had Nvidia's latest (beta) driver & am running a Corsair RM750. For the 27 minute romp my CPU load averaged 21% and GPU 74%. Just throwing those fun facts out there, not debating the groups conclusions. -

For what its worth, I also use Safety Load & a modified skse loader dll (mem blocks 768/256) as well as a.245 binary enb preset (enboost) and I do not suffer CTD or ILS. This is run on an i7 4770 (3.5GHz) with 16 GB Ram & GTX 670 (2GB Vram). I have ugrids set to 7 with ewi65's v31 ini files (available on Nexus) and Cell Stabilizer. I am running a grotesque (by STEP standards) collection of 414 mod packages/235 esp files. I have played for as long as 7 hours straight without a CTD or ILS occurring, averaging 32 fps (give or take 2 fps according to Skyrim Performance Monitor), I shut down because I needed sleep. So as far as my non scientific testing goes, seems stable.Does your FPS tank around the forest surrounding Riften? I have an R9 290 (4gb VRAM) and I get the same fps as you with fps dipping down to 18 around the area I just mentioned. I can't for the life of me figure out why I'm getting such low fps. I think AMD just runs horribly with Bethesda games regardless of how much power/vram it has.Just finished a 27 minute romp from Ivarstead to Riften; minimum fps 2, maximum 36, average 30. Subjective I noticed 26-32 fps in the on screen display, any dips to single digits must have been quick and I just didn't notice. Corrections to my previous statement, my memory blocks are set to 512/256 in a patched skse loader. Safety load was not installed for this run. As far as you experiencing 18 fps when I average 30, I do not have the official HD dlc installed but use Skyrim HD Lite instead. Further I am running Grass on Steroids with iMinGrassSize=75. I am not sure if that helps, let me know if you want any other information.
