Performance issues with a beasty config (IMO)
LeetMiniWheat replied to nico53laval's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I doubt it's related to your raid, unless your SSD's have some intermittent lockup/freeze issues like some do. if anything, your SSD's should be improving texture loading. mine certainly has. as for drivers, i've been using 304.48 and 304.79 and the general consensus seems to be that they are far better than 301 WHQL although I'm actually troubleshooting some performance issues too now, even on vanilla with no mods I'm getting dips in fps down to 60-75, and fog seems to be one of the culprits -
well i'm finding even my 690 has limits. I'm testing SMAA with lower SGSSAA right now, combined they seem to work well (although tree leaves still flicker) Edit: it also seems to reduce the detail on certain textures, like the sticks and twigs on the ground textures
-
make sure to add this line to injector.ini: weird_steam_hack = 1 I got some really weird stuff with it set to 0 by default, like the entire world was foggy and the flora wasn't rendering properly, and road textures had hard lines/gradients instead of being smoothly blended together. it's not bad, and probably better than FXAA but still no substitute for real MSAA and TrSSAA/SGSSAA, but for systems that can't handle those, this is definitely a viable alternative Edit: also, it seems to be less aggressive than FXAA at reducing aliasing so in sometimes FXAA does a better job, however FXAA blurs everything a lot. this might go well paired with a lower setting of MSAA and TrSSAA/SGSSAA

hopefully this may help someone here with a kepler gpu too. I got fed up with my GPU's dynamically clocking themselves in skyrim, resulting in more stuttering than would normally occur so I decided to research how to disable kepler boost. I found a great guide on how to force consistent clocks here but I recommend using a .bat file for easy access, I made one using their templates to force my custom overclock and the pstate on both of my GPU's (don't copy verbatim obviously): "C:\Program Files (x86)\nvidia inspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,118 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,444 -setpowertarget:0,135 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,187500 -setGPUClock:0,2,1163 -setMemoryClock:0,2,3445 -forcepstate:0,2 "C:\Program Files (x86)\nvidia inspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -setBaseClockOffset:1,0,118 -setMemoryClockOffset:1,0,444 -setpowertarget:1,135 -setVoltageOffset:1,0,187500 -setGPUClock:1,2,1163 -setMemoryClock:1,2,3445 -forcepstate:1,2Note: this will make them run in full power mode ALL the time (or at least until the next reboot). but you can force power management clocks again by using nvidia inspector's Multi Display Power Saver (Use the Windows 7 jumplist for quick access to Multi Display Power Manager after pinning nvidia inspector to start menu/taskbar, or by right clicking the "Show Overclocking" button on the main Nvidia Inspector window to get to Multi Display Power Saver, then putting a checkbox next to each GPU. But remember to uncheck before you game again!)

Anti-Aliasing/Anisotropic Filtering not working properly
LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
btw have you found any suitable HDR replacement for SLi? a lot of the ENB mods have it, but they all look too bright to me. I like RCRN but the contrast can be too much sometimes. -
DROPPED More Dynamic Shadows and Striping Fixed (by puuloo)

i don't see any files uploaded on skyrimforge unfortunately but I left a comment. it should be compatible with ENB, the mod adds/replaces lights all over skyrim to fix issues. -

LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I still am yet to see any invisible textures, texture stretching, and rainbow textures you've been talking about. are you sure it's not from DDSopt or Optimizer Textures? (I'm not using either) Edit: the only things I've noticed is the lack of HDR and the occasional shimmering over water. that and some weird occasional shadow casting issue, but could be related to a mod. Edit2: also I noticed flickering land shadows about a week ago too. Edit3: hmm, now I'm getting some flickering ambient occlusion on the very bottom of certain trees on the mountain path when you exit helgen. -

found out why he got banned. Thread: puuloo - BANNED not sure what the mod meant by "in a no-strike zone", i guess that means it's permanent? Edit: I can understand why he did it (though if it were me it wouldn't have been permanent), but they shouldn't punish their users too by depriving them of some great stuff he had on there. Edit2: here's The Vampire Dante's profile page in case anyone wants to complain about it, though not recommended lol -

We were talking about Enhanced Distant Trees ;)Oh, whoops my bad. it's almost 5am here Edit: hmm, yeah EDT does seem to be gone. what the heck is going on with nexus lately... -

works via this link: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19446 and BTW I get almost a 20fps hit from using this, coming out of helgen in the mountain trail... not sure if the z-fighting tweaks are exacerbating it too or what, but my fps has been really poor even from the beginning wagon ride Edit: 45fps with it on, 72fps with it off to be exact Edit2: this is way more than the 10%-20% performance hit the author claims, more like 35%-40% here unless it's conflicting with some other mod or tweak i'm using Edit3: I also noticed the whiterun texture bugs like the gray windmill from afar -

yeah this is why I've intentionally not played that far, cause I'm still experimenting with mods. sorry to hear about your dirty saves. what I usually do is always create a new save everytime i save and when my saves folder gets bloated i .rar the old ones in case i ever need them -
Anti-Aliasing/Anisotropic Filtering not working properly
LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
well, there's already 4GB 680's and 670's but there's no plans for 4GB (8GB) 690's since they are kind of limited-edition like the 590's were. besides they're having a hard time keeping the 680's in stock, they're flying off the shelves I could have gone dual 670 or 680 but the 690 has a better frame-metering technique to reduce micro-stutter -

LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
not really, GK110 is Tesla only right now, it was pushed back to 2013 unless AMD really puts the heat on them, but even so it would only be a paper launch this year since all of their chip productions are already preordered for Teslas Edit: and for all intents and purposes, the GK104's ARE their flagship right now (as they've stated). I stopped holding my breath for GK110 Edit2: I can't find the press release, but here was a quote from someone on Hardforum: Edit3: my guess is this august-november will be the GTX 660 in time for the holidays -

wow this sucks. and sorry for posting another thread, I didn't see this thread. so no one knows why he was banned? it's also on SkyrimForge here: https://www.skyrimforge.com/mods/more-dynamic-shadows-striping-fi/ -
well there's your issue. (just kidding, lol) not sure though, I guess you could try disabling all AA in-game and try forcing some AA modes in CCC
-
did you have transparency multisampling on? it's known to cause some issues in skyrim

ROFL, it was CLARALUX adding a lightpost to the road -
Actually, SkyBash seems to be working now. I'm seeing "Bashed Patch, SkyProc.esp" in the ESPs list! (I must have missed it earlier) Edit: also, I edited my earlier post with steps to use SkyBash, ASIS, and RePerkussion together.

dammit, MadWizard25 jinxed me now, everytime I start a new game the horse carriage rolls off a cliff into an epic tumble LOL -

I have not noticed artifacts with 30-60 minute tests running around with VRAM maxed out, using 2048 and 4096 unoptimized textures. Occasional stuttering though Edit: except for the water glitches Edit2: sometimes get an infinite loading screen, but I think I tracked that down to a mod or two causing it or dirty saves -
Anti-Aliasing/Anisotropic Filtering not working properly
LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
lol rain on my parade why doncha >.< I'm still praying this will somehow work okay :P and I've come to the conclusion that I need to stop adding more, lol, but I keep finding new and awesome mods. and I've got a watchlist of WIP's I plan to add when stable also, @ torminater: could the 1.25GB VRAM be the cause of some of your issues? especially if you're running a ton of high res stuff. I feel VRAM limited on 2GB even! -
Anti-Aliasing/Anisotropic Filtering not working properly
LeetMiniWheat replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
well that's just balls. I haven't experienced anything too major like you were saying though, you sure there's nothing wrong with your GPU's? you did say that shop you sent your computer to didn't even notice the vram stuttering or anything,,, have to wonder what kind of job (or lack thereof) they did. but tbh I haven't played much i've been modding straight for the past few weeks (up to 417 mods installed in Mod Organizer now (though maybe 300-350 in use), so I'll keep those bugs in mind when I start testing -
yeah well in the case of SkyBash, it makes a bashed patch just like Wrye Bash so it needs to see all the mods properly (which it does, but I just can't find where it's outputting it's patch to in MO) Edit: I guess in the meantime I'll disable any mods that Wrye Bash can't merge, until I figure out how to get SkyBash to merge properly with MO Edit2: disregard this post, it works and wrye bash can merge jswords' leveled list balancing thing
