  1. Did something break or change on the New posts sidebar? I used to be able to get to the actual last post by hitting the date field in the sidebar but now it is grayed out. If I hit the associated thread name I get the first post in the thread, not the most recent one, including cases where the thread has multiple pages.
  2. Please use spoiler tags when posting large text blocks. I added them to your post. The default for speedmult is 100. Setting it to 15x this can potentially cause CTDs. Using the Bethesda HRDLC with only 1Gb of VRAM can also potentially cause crashes; you might find Vano's High Res DLC Optimized more suitable. The memory patches help to reduce the effect of RAM and VRAM related crashes when these values are near their limits, but if you exceed the limits by too much you still get crashes.
  3. I feel that having them in a few predetermined locations is better from a game balance perspective for ones with shared content like Kryptopyr's blacksmith and carpenter chests. What the Buildable Chests and Containers mod, or the Arod's Better Containers mod that it recommends, really needs to use are the scripts from Automatic Item Storage and Alchemy Ingredient Storage mods which provide the sorting you want. Several other mods use these to provide sorting in containers; Kryptopyr mentions that Automatic Item Storage mod script was used as the model for the script in Blacksmith Chests and it was also used for Breezehome Fully Upgradable.
  4. There is a thread on this topic in the Mod Organizer section that you might find helpful.
  5. Is three some way to stop the automatic merging of consecutive posts in a thread from the same person? I want to have this happen sometimes to merge responses when I'm quoting different posts, but most of the time I don't. I don't see anywhere on the main page where there is a "how to use this forum" help page that might explain how to stop this. I use Chrome but I'm not a diehard Chrome user, but I do dislike IE. These were two separate posts, by the way
  6. p4ck3tl055 This thread in the General section under Troubleshooting discusses how to determine the name of the missing texture so you can find it. Since the first two characters in the FormID are 00 it is one of the textures in Skyrim - textures.bsa; of course it might have been overwritten by a texture in another mod. ---------- I installed the Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim pack, and I used DDSopt to optimize these textures while doing this since there are a lot of exterior textures. I found one optimized texture that shows up as purple in the game, ssewersinvisbletex01.dds from Skyrim Sewers. This is a monocolor texture, and DDSopt collapses it as it should. Unfortunately it isn't being displayed properly. I'll add this texture to the DDSopt.ini .
  7. Yes, if you put some original files into Skyrim, including those you mention, and use Steam to refresh your local copy it will see the original files you have and won't download these again.
  8. I use the dynamic timescale mod and I haven't seen any problems. I think the range it uses is from 6-20.
  9. We should probably expand the description of installing this mod on the wiki page to make it a little clearer [Done]. Install the 4 ICH mod files mentioned on the wiki page for this mod (the meshes from these mods are needed). From the Weapon and Armor Fixes mod install the Improved Closefaced Helmets -- WAF and CCF Compatible Versions (if you didn't so so already) and use only this plugin: Improved Closefaced Helmets_Legendary.espHaving done this you can hide all 4 plugins (esp) from the 4 ICH mods in the STEP guide that you installed. The ICH legendary plugin from WAF includes modified versions of the records in the 4 esp plugins in ICH. If you also want to use the 2 non-STEP ICH additions the SR:LE guide has instructions on how to install these files. Yes, if you want BOSS to recognize the legendary plugin you'll need to use BUM (details on this are in the SR:LE guide) or just move the plugin manually to the correct place as mentioned in the detailed instructions. Eventually this won't be needed. EDITED: STEP uses 4 of the ICH files, and the legendary patch covers all 4
  10. The DDSopt preview viewer can always show characteristics of the source file, and it can show the destination image and difference image if there was no resolution change during optimization. Maybe someday Ethatron will have time to finish the implementation. I was surprised since the results you mention were so different than those for the vanilla male body. I looked at these heads in more detail using comparison mode in the Compressonator. I compared the original Breton head with a same resolution head with R5G6B5 and with one at 1/2 resolution but R8G8B8. The R5G6B5 head has an artifact in the nostrils where it is way off, but everywhere else it seems to be a closer match to the original head. However, of course, what matters most is how it looks in the game. If the 1Kx1K textures look good enough, then it would be better to use them anyway. In the batch file for vanilla textures I prevented the tintmasks from being optimized, and when I optimize mods I avoid optimizing tintmask textures. I don't think DDSopt has ever been configured and tested for those kinds of textures, so it doesn't do as well. Internally DDSopt has algorithms to determine what type of texture is being optimized and how to best optimize it; it's not a one-size-fits-all process.
  11. The DDSopt preview mode doesn't show how textures look in game, but it can show the alpha channel of a texture and can show a map of differences between an unoptimized and optimized texture. Did you use that feature?
  12. I've not heard of problems with textures changing when reloading unless a mod like Automatic Variants is used that intentionally changes textures on creatures and/or NPCs. The original Skyrim Revisited included several mods that provided this behavior. The Skyrim Immersive Creatures mod in SR:LE does this. It's possible you have some remnants of one of these mods in your save game; these mods use a lot of scripts. There is a new tool called MFG console that can help find the cause of purple textures. The thread I linked to has some discussion of the tool and the pointer to the mod on Nexus. I'd be very surprised if the problem you describe is related to using DDSopt.
  13. Did you get a chance to look at heads in a game, and did you compare the results with the alternative compression choices using the DDSopt Preview texture before/after comparison?
  14. CCOR seems to have a lot more capabilities, configurability, and integration with other mods than Ars Metallica. About the only small area where Ars Metallica seems to have a liitle more capability is in the number of recipes for melting objects in the smelter to make ingots.
  15. I haven't tried the new ADAM plugins yet. I'm waiting for the updated NVEC that uses the new WMX DLC plugin vs. the older WMXUE. By the way, even though the guide is young I've already found a lot of mods I'll be integrating into my FNV setup as well as the instructions for using Mod Organizer. Thanks!
  16. I haven't had a chance yet to compare these with the Yukichigai patch yet, but I was quite surprised when I compared the resources (primarily meshes, textures, sounds) and the plugins for MMUE and NVED. I found a lot less overlap than I expected; much of what they provided seemed fairly independent. Not the stuff that obviously has to be similar to work with the major mods like Project Nevada, WMX, AWOP, etc. but the rest of these 2 mods.
  17. When I look at the mod in Mod Organizer, the only textures it overwrites are from Skyrim-textures, SRO, Serious HD, and a few textures from HQ Snow and 1 from Skyrim Flora Overhaul. EDIT and one texture from Real Ice that overwrites Terrain Bump.
  18. The TES5Edit merge script only merges the plugins (esp). You need to merge any file folders (e.g., meshes and textures) and their contents as well as any individual files in the mods yourself.
  19. The comment about the XExternalEditor deserves to be stickied. It happens just infrequently enough that I forget about the fix when the problem occurs again. I reinstalled XExternalEditor a few days ago (since it wasn't on this computer) and I haven't had any problems recently.
  20. I can paste a url and it just shows up as text. I don't ever remember being able to enter a url and have it become a link without using the link button.
  21. I am able to edit the Extended Proposal. I am able to download a page with the XExternalEditor. I haven't tried loading it back to a wiki page yet. I do notice the site is sluggish tonight.
  22. I'm able to run both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions on my system. I do have both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the 2012 Visual C++ redistributable installed.
  23. They are done by the same author. The Ojo Bueno series of textures are higher resolution and use more VRAM. I also use the higher resolution versions of the NMC textures. I use these with my 2Gb VRAM card and I don't have any problems with them. In general I use textures in FNV up to 2Kx2K versions; whenever there are 4Kx4K textures and no corresponding 2Kx2K versions I use DDSopt to reduce the resolution. Those using this guide might also find the DarNified Traits menu useful; it changes the traits menu to use DarNs UI.
  24. I didn't realize there was a performance difference; I always use the 64 bit version. Is there a difference in time only for large files or for everything?
  25. I found the Sortomatic mod especially useful in the playthrough I've been doing; I wish there were an equivalent in Skyrim that could easily applied to the player houses (Alchemy Ingredient Storage does part of this but only for alchemical ingredients). Sortomatic does inventory sorting so you can easily store and retrieve what you want. You also need player houses that use this it; one of the mods I use that adds this is Sortomatic Faction Safehouses. You might like the New Vegas Interiors mods that add some additional content to buildings.
