  1. To extract the files from the Vanilla .bsa's you should follow the DDSOpt guide. Once they are extracted you should probably optimize; yes. Decreasing your resolution is probably a must as it will hopefully allow you to avoid the 3.1GB Ram limitation.
  2. Seeing Manny and his house mod reminded me to post this. Obviously this wouldn't be for the main S.T.E.P. guide or even Skyrim Revisited I'd imagine but maybe for packs. It has no load doors and is located in the middle of the woods. The interior is fairly simple especially when compared to the majority of house mods and features auto sort chests. There is an outhouse like building behind the main cottage that contains the shrines and mannequins. The outhouse also features an interesting feature I haven't seen anywhere else and that is an occlusion cube to help decrease the load on your system. Because of the cube the outhouse doesn't have a normal door and instead uses a walkthrough banner as the transition. It also has an interesting way of taking care of the problems faced by many no load door houses; just how am I going to keep all the critters out! It is on the Nexus: Link
  3. Yeah this talk about home mods reminds me. BTW welcome Manny nice to have you here. I'll look at your mod as soon as I get my Skyrim Revisited install running smoothly.
  4. Hey mate can you at least tell us if you have included which patches to merge in the new guide. Because I don't know about you but ~230 .esp/esm seems like alot to me. I was going to try my hand at following Kelmych's guide but if you have it in your new one I'd prefer to use yours.
  5. Yeah Mr. Secretive what is the status of LE I made a thread all for it and you don't seem to have sniffed it.
  6. Agreed I always do one at a time. Sometimes for mods like the aMidianBorn Book of Silence optimizing to 2k is pointless since Cabal already seems to have optimized it. Then there are the water mods which I believe have issues with optimization
  7. Skip SMIM? Grab your torches and pitchforks we have a blasphemer! *shudders at the thought of Skyrim without SMIM*
  8. Thanks for the link
  9. Odd. I wonder which parts.
  10. I don't know if it is correct or not but as it was on the AFKmods site I'll assume it is. According to their "Mods made obsolete" thread Distant Decal Fix is no longer needed. Link:
  11. No Skyrim Revisited - Legendary Edition it's the revised version of Skyrim Revisited that Neovalen is working on which is the reason the wiki page says this page has been frozen.
  12. Yeah I know that it's problem is making the .bsa. IDK I'll just tinker with it to see if I csn figure out it's malfunction
  13. Unless I'm mistaken I don't think they deigned to give us the Higher Res hair in the texture pack
  14. They look pretty good in fact I might even change over from Benjamin318s Realistic Rocks and Mountains in Skyrim Plus this is made by the Grass on Steroids guy you don't suppose it increases your fps too do you?
  15. Well I don't have an option to tell it not to and I have everything setup per the DDSOpt guide.
  16. Ok so weird stuff. I tried optimizing a mod called Immersive Creatures to 1024 and it caused DDSopt to crash at some point as it was optimizing the tintmasks. I just tried optimizing my Dawnguard.bsa's textures to 1024 straight into a .bsa archive and it also crashed at some point (seems like seruinsrubble ). It seems to be working on everything else. Any ideas?
  17. Well it didn't seem to have any problems on the meshes or most of the textures but it kept stalling out in the tintmask folder so I unchecked those files and it optimized everything else. Any ideas?
  18. ok sounds good. Â yeah im currently not using an enb, but im very familiar with it and have used it plenty in the past. I have pretty much every version of binary and many different profiles sitting in my enb manager, so all i would need to do is merely open it and activate. Â When you suggest to me to play without AA, are you talking about disabling AA at the driver level or game level? Also, what kind of quality hit will result from disabling AA? I mean completely disable AA in the launcher and I think you need to disable it in the driver as well for full effect. As for performance it should increase not decrease if you disable the game's AA.
  19. No not during installation when I was optimizing the textures and everything.
  20. I myself find SoS's menu's annoying especially since I can't properly start it with the rest of the mods when I start my test characters. If you can write an MCM menu for it's I'd love to try it. Another mod in need of an MCM menu is Climates of Tamriel.
  21. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24913 Anyone tried optimizing Immersive Creatures? Its crapped out on me twice already and I also noticed DDSOpt seemed to be optimizing the meshes which I didn't think it did (or more likely most meshes are already pretty good and these are just REALLY badly compressed) Edit: It seems to happen in the facetint folder somewhere.
  22. @krypt There is a vanilla lighting ENB with SSAO I posted it in another thread here yesterday. Aiyen's preset does change too much either as it doesn't have a palette.
  23. Well if you want an IRC channel let me know and I can set it up. IIRC there was a sticky feature in either Freenode or Rizon I'd have to check.
