I have a question regarding the compression wiki entry: As far as I know it is impossible to compress textures in vram on the fly (that's what dds opt is for). So I would think most people would not need to devote resources to compress textures in ram.

I meant the Step Texture Compilation. Parallax should have virtually no impact on the performance on newer systems. Most parallax maps have fairly low resolution (which is just fine). This is not really a pack, more of a point to start with a pack. To turn this into a pack we would need some comparison shots or even better: comparison vids (because the parallax effect doesn't show well in shots) to decide which landscape textures to use. I'm also not sure if Vivid Landscapes is fully DynDoLod 'compatible'. But I do not even know exactly what requires billboards and lod textures and what doesn't.

Your argument is, that tolerance can only go so far because there are things inherintly incompatible, like female genital mutilation and using that argument to say that homosexual 'propaganda' is incompatible too. Then you say you are not trying to purposefully portrait homosexuals as criminals. The main difference between your examples and homosexiality is, that in your examples there is either someone coming to grave physical harm, there is a justice system that is considered unjust for very rational reasons, or an obivious uncalled for gender specific power shift. I don't want to go into more detail for the rational reasons to ban the things you mentioned. Engaging in a homosexual relation on the other hand is a mutual agreement between adult people where noone comes to harm. Quite the contrary, those people are happier if allowed to fulfill their emotional and sexual desires, it happenes between willing adults. There is no measurable harm to anyone, the only thing harmed here is your subjective ideal of a family. Smoking is also a completely different case because it causes measurable health problems, and quite severe ones. With the same line of thinking, you could cut argue for apartheit, construct some moral tradition to defend (e.g. the sons of Ham should serve, skin colors shouldn't mix), and then say we should ban 'propaganda' (like there is no harm if people of different skin colors mix) for equal rights because it threatenes those values. This is called discrimination and luckily the politically centric people try to fight it. @Nebulous: What I was trying to say is, that there is a need to argue against elenhils way of thinking because it is important that others do not fall for his fellacies. Well, a clear no! It is way more important to me that I do not have take my child to the grave because I couldn't effort some medical treatment, that I know it won't end up being harmed because of some non-radical political view or the religion it chooses etc. then whether the public school teaches something contrary to my world view. If my child thinks I am trustworthy and my arguments are good, it will follow my belief anyway. If not, it is really my own fault.

Well, I personally think that pluralistic societies are more prosperous then non pluralistic societies. What I learned during my history studies tells the same story. The measurements of 'prosperous' may differ though. I like to look at things like health care, life expectancy and civil rights.

Well, Verdant didn't outright kill my performance. With iMinGrassSize=90 that is. But I would expect your GPU to take a little more of a hit, especially with an ENB. As for ENB SSAO, I don't know if it is an AMD driver bug but I really don't like the look of UseAmbientIndirectLighting=true. Imho SSAO is supposed to darken corners, that setting doesn't do that (at least with AMD drivers). Parallax mapping should be really cheap. Two more recommendations are more hud and extended UI.

Well, I'd start with adding ENB parallax to the game. I currently use Project Parallax Remastered + Vivid Landscapes and some textures by Pfuscher. Cabal's Landscape textures (unfortunately not the solstheim ones) have parallax too. I haven't decided yet which ones I like best. Verdant Grass is my favorite grass mod. Out of lazyness I use the no worldspace edit version. As for ENB, Vividian is not my personal favorite, but that choice is very subjective. Lumen is my current favorite, beautiful SSAO and lighting. I haven't had an extensive look at Natural Lighting and Athmospherics 2.0, that one disables color correction though disabling some ELE features I really love.

Dunno, I haven't had any problems with my drivers so far, aside from one very specific black screen issue in 3d mark firestrike. NVidias drivers have their problems too. Mainly that they distort performance. Once the NVidia generation gets old and driver optimizations (which are amazing for NV) don't get attention, the card suddently falls behind big time.

That should be possible. You just need to find one that tweaked with ELFX and CoT in mind, or the colors will look strange. As far as I know Skylight is a little easier on performance.

Well, I'm not sure about the drive. SSDReadSpeedTester2.04 tells me the read speeds are fine, but I cannot be sure. Is Skyrim performance monitor reliable at catching ram and vram usage with ENB? [edit] Rebooting fixed it. It might have been ram or some storage controller issue, I'm not sure.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. If I didn't own the game, I certainly wouldn't have bothered to report back to close the issue. Whether fixing a game you own is piracy is an age old discussion I didn't want to break loose.

Hi, I'm currently having troubles with load lag. Sometimes a cell will load, but not all the objects within it. This means I can run beyond loaded grass and sometimes see billboards in loaded cells. The issue is not always reproducable. Some test runs (start a new game) work fine, others do not. Now it's not like I don't have a good hardware reason for such issues: It might be the buggy samsung evo 840 ssd. I'm still posting this because I would like to know if this could as well be an issue with DynDoLod scripts being late, bsa unpacking being slow, the hook.dll from MO or some ENBoost issue. Sadly troubleshooting by yourself gets tricky if your hardware could be the problem :/ I'm using STEP with some parallax texture mods, Lumen ENB and Verdant Grasses. I'm also using Alternate Start for testing purposes. Has anyone else heared about this issue? Thanks in advance! Spock

I found out why this didn't work btw: I used a fix so I wouldn't have to start steam. It worked beautifully in the past, but for some reason it didn't want to work with my latest install. Reverting back to default fixed it.

Hi, in my recent testings, useindirectlighting completely disabled SSAO during brighter scenes. No matter how far I drove the AO intensity, I couldn't see any difference. Since I'm an AMD user, I'd like to know if this intended or just an AMD related issue. Thanks in advance!

In a full STEP:Extended install you need to move the STEP texture pack at the end of the texture mods (the end of clutter&misc). Immediately after that, install those mods. The .esp files have no conflicts with STEP:Extended. You should be aware that there are currently no terrain parallax complient solstheim landscape textures available that I know of. Cabal's textures will look very distorted with FixParallaxTerrain=true.

There are some mods in there that could be dropped imho: Better Weapon Swing Sounds Improved Combat Sounds Ultra Realistic Bow Shoot Sounds You may also want to move Smooth Blade Draw and Sheath before AOS to use the AOS samples.

I'm sorry, I found it: Improved combat sounds was missing. Regarding the patch: Are the MAG ready entries necessary under 'sound descriptor'? It seems like the current AOS.esp already forwards whatever those where forwarding.

Nope, and the only security feature enabled is the exe check. Another fringe idea might be a windows update. In my last install I used windows update and it destroyed my win7 sp1 installation. So now I just have the updates included in sp1.
