  1. Try running Dawnguard through BSAopt Into another folder once all the folders are in the folder you created, rename the folder Dawnguard and pack it in a zip or rar archive then run the archive through the bash installer and there you go. No more red highlight. I f you have dawnguard mods installed already they will have yellow boxes just click on them and see which files are higher or lower. remove said lower files from the mod package mod . you can find them in your mod installers folder created by wrey bash when you installed it . If you need more info PM me and I explain in more detail Good Luck
  2. If the game engine is old or created without considering the use of dual GPUs could that be why it doesn't detect them? Also. Can "bridging" two cards be any different than a dual card built combined? I don't want to research this. It's too time consuming.
  3. Do we know yet if ATI cards make any difference?
  4. So that's why, even powerful computers have CTDs. A lot of people are probably wondering the same thing. Thanks!
  5. Would this qualify as an Extreme STEP rig? Phenom II quad core 970 black edition 3.5 ghz HD 7970 Black edition GPU 8 gb 1600 ram Game is on a 60 gb SSDÂ No OCing or graphics overdrive.
  6. Once there's something there to start with then the rest of us can add to it. Can I have editor rights so I can get my .02 cents in. Please?
  7. Will all of the project Parallax meshes and Textures work ok with ENB .117?
  8. That helps me understand lighting a little bit better. Thanks!
  9. Do the lighting mods have an effect on the textures in the game? Will some texture mods look better with RCRN Â than with ENB and vice versa? If I'm a noob should I just decide on one lighting system and just stick with it for simplicity sake?Â
  10. This may not make sense but try changing the contrast or brightness of your monitor and if you have Imaginator, play around with contrast, brightness, and sunlight settings. I think I remember this solving issues like this for me.
  11. Thank you Kelmych! I spent a good part of the day reading over this thread. Unfortunately i've come away with more questions than answers. I'm still not sure though how to handle the files that are listed in step 4 of DDSopt optimization, it says these files will be corrupt if run through DDSopt. Some of them are now colored.
  12. I'm up to step (4),of the ddsopt optimization "texture filters" and I'm stumped. first off I typed in*.png and clicked apply and nothing is in the bottom window. I deleted png and clicked apply and the textures from DLC1 and DLC2 are there and checked is this right? Also I'm not sure what to do for the rest of step (4) the corrupted files. The term "wildcard filter" as it relates to DDSopt has me confused. Is the STD folder supposed to be loaded with the DLC1&DLC2 folders at this point? And should I have already installed the DLC fix 1.3b files? FYI I've done a fresh install and am following the SIG and DDSopt guide Since I did not have the 1.3b fix installed do I need to repeat steps 1-5 with DLC1 & DLC2? In the DDSopt guide prior to going on to the "Repair" section? [i think I have the answer to the above questions. I just need advice on the last question] To "filter" the list of files in step (4) do I delete them from the folder or just uncheck the box in ddsopt?
  13. "If you have Chimneys for Riverwood and want to add to that use ChimneysForSkyrim. If you don't have Chimneys for Riverwood or prefer to only have one mod for all the chimneys, use ChimneysForSkyrimRW. Remember to remove Chimneys for Riverwood first if you already have that mod and wish to use ChimneysForSkyrimRW." When I read this I thought the mod author was talking about an older version. Wasn't there a 'chimneys for Riverwood' mod a while back? that is now obsolete? and is that the one he's referring to when he say's "Remember to remove Chimneys for Riverwood first? I'm confused about this one.
  14. sorry boss! got carried away!
  15. So is a six core CPU a plus in this case or is sticking to 4 cores better?
  16. Thank you frithyland for that info. LeeMiniWheat I wish I could do bothÂ
  17. I am very eagerly awaiting the RCRN 3.5 in a couple of weeks and new STEP coming soon. I feel like Christmas is a couple weeks away. Should I buy another HD 7870 graphics card or maybe just upgrade my processor? Decisions, decisions!
  18. I'm using it. It seems to be doing good for at least the first few hrs and around whiterun.
  19. Yeah! It will probably need to be re worded when the new PDF is done anyway.
  20. I'm using 1.7 and had a CTD after about 5 hrs. Then added Skyrim Performance Mod  ( https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21392 ) and did not crash at the same place and noticed a slightly smoother game play. This was just outside Whiterun going towards Redoran retreat. Crash may have been due to a lot of new mods. Wrye Smash and BOSS are doing an outstanding job of installing and load ordering. This is getting really fun again:dance:
  21. I have a confession to make. I never read the "STEP Community Mod  Posting Guidelines" because I thought they wouldn't be any different than any other site. When I noticed the header or whatever underneath ,the " Mantra" That caught my attention and after reading it I wished I had read it sooner. Maybe do away with the term guideline and just call "S.T.E.P. Community Mantra" People (like me) might pay closer attention to it. Every website forum has the same posting guidelines people will just skip over it.Â
  22. I'm just playing around with a potpourri of mods right now so I can restart with the new guide. Just let me know. I have a 1.6 install zipped away that I think is still good to test with, but why? 1.7. Is really is more stable.
  23. Those who use Steam get stuff installed by or almost by default if you know what I mean. And there are too many users like that to determine what sort of user group to put them in. I don't envy you guys. The task you have chosen is a "Long and windy road" but you are heroes to many of us that can appreciate what you are accomplishing.I Salute you! Maybe STEP should just stick to Low, medium, and Highend rigs. Arrange the mod list with those criteria. But have a "select" group of people make the determination of what is considered Low,Medium, or High. Or just Low and High. to be honest anyone playing Skyrim with a low end PC should not use but a very small and undemanding list of mods!!! My$.02
  24. I noticed on the 'Mod testing Guide' under the 'Computer stability and settings' tab. Concerning defragmenting it should be noted that Solid State Hard drives don't need and probably should not be defragmented.
  25. I've got my old game safely tucked away and I'm ready to start anew. With S.T.E.P. wiki at my side
