Skyrim folder in Skyrim directory?
bitdman replied to bitdman's question in General Skyrim LE Support
OK! It looks like I'm talking to myself. So I think I can answer this. It must just be a backup to the 'skyrimprefs ini' that gets created upon first start because after changing the INIprefs in C:/documents/username/mygames/skyrim the one in the skyrim folder in the game directory did not change. Also If you have installed B.O.S.S its files will be in that very same folder in the Skyrim directory. So if you want to refer to the original 'skyrim prefs ini' it's in that folder -
Installscript .vdf is there already. I can't tell whats missing. But I'll tell you this, I've had it. Re-downloaded the game from scratch (about 20hrs wasted). The same problem! Two different graphics cards and no change. I think I need to play another game for a while. I'll still be tracking the progress Skyrim and STEP though. But it's time for a change. Thanks for the input.

I just got done downloading Skyrim from Steam. I rebooted and ran the validate cache files option on Steam, and it says "1 file failed to validate and will be required" It doesn't say which file so how can we know if this missing file will cause a problem or not. I realize this is a Steam problem, just thought you guys should be aware of it. Steam is ruining Skyrim.

There is a skyrimprefs.ini in a skyrim folder, inside the Skyrim directory."the game is installed on a seperate partition ."Is this any different than the skyrimprefs.ini that is in C:/user/documents/mygames/Skyrim folder?

OK! thanks again. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer. Thank God for SIG.

Another odd thing is the 'Imaginator' disappears after a few seconds. Steam is still not installing one of the files it says is 'required' any ideas what it might be? I have the files for a clean install per the wiki.

I'm not sure this goes off topic. But, When validating skyrim files steam indicated that 5 files were missing, and it installed 4 of them, it would not install or say what the 5th file was. Do I need to enable updates in skyrim unplugged in order to get all files required from steam?

I put in a different graphics card and diabled crossfire and no change. I uninstalled all mods with wrye and no change. Could my original game files have become corrupt? Will that cause artifacting?

Thanks for the replies guys! I was mistaken about the problem being only the sky. It is happening everywhere except the map. Somtimes it's horizonal but mostly verticle and vshaped when I get a ggod look at it I can see trees and mountains trying to display but the backgroun is already there. Kinda like two backgrounds and one is not able to fully materialize. Ill play around a bit to see if I can fix it. Thanks again and any other ideas woul sure be appreciated. I spent a lot on the CPU,GPU and motherboard to improve on my last build, and know more trouble. I won't give up! Also. Z-fighting is severe and the verticle flashes look like white lightening.

"If the effect is very noticeable,as in not subtle, my first guess for a problem like this would be graphics artifacting. This can be caused by a variety of things. " I think you're right. It is probably a graphics artifacting problem. What do I need to do to correct it? If I don't look up at the sky I don't notice anything wrong, but look up and it's terrible, unplayable. It kinda looks like somthing is overlapping and tring to copy over another layer. Very annoying and I haven't had this problem ever before. See my signature for changes to my PC.

I'm getting what appears to be vector lines eminating out from a random point in the sky flashing on and off. Is this texture popping or a form of Z-fighting? Or is it a crossfire problem? I have tried un-installing all "sky ,moon and thunder sounds" mods but no differance. I have the latest ATI beta driver 12.11

Can't they (meaning the graphic card co.) come up with a way of handling the memory externaly and make slots so we can puchase and add memory as needed? Just like a PC motherboard;)
-
Well I keep making the same mistake cause everytime I reinstall and start in riverwood the slabs across the bridge are pinkishpurple. Can someone point me towards the culprit mod whos textures I must keep deleting for some reason? Thanks!

I am getting this warning when I start wrye Your Skyrim.ini should begin wth a section header(e.g."[General]), but it doesn't. You should edit the file to correct this. All three INIs begin with [Generl]. So why the warning?Â

Climates of tamriel isn't conpatible with Dawnguard yet either but that never stops these guys. They'll find a way to "Make It Happen" if enough people want it. or it will be in an alternate pack.So don't be sad,"BE Happy"

I just wanted to update this thread, and this mod info a bit. As I feel when it is done and done right it will be huge immerssion. And even though the people that use it are finding bugs they praise the mod inspite of them. I beginning yet another new start and will use this to see how it works with STEP and mybe help the modder to sort out the bugs. He seem to be a very dedicated person. we like that yah?

When I put my arms up to fight I can see part of the ground through one of my forearms. I tried changing FOV but no change. Any Ideas what this is related to?
