But will they cause CTD's? I try to eliminate script "conflicts" with wrye lower and higher, and was wondering if i make a mistake will the result be catastrophic?
-
Do scripts need to chwcked for redundancey? If two mods have scripts for the same purpose will one override the other or can it be worded different, creating two scripts that have the same purpose fighting each other? Can scripts be filtered or cleaned? Â Are there dirty scripts?

BAIN Conversion File click on the question mark at the bottom of the WryeBash installer window there is all the info you need....well... almost all.

I just started a new game and I'm seeing this in the room with bed in the beginning using Alt.Start.LAL. I never noticed it before and I haven't DDS opted any of the textures???? could this happen when using BSA opt to unpack BSA's? At first glance i thought it was supposed to be cob webs.

If an esp is missmatced per the wrye installer can it be a cause of  the game crashing soon after starting? The esp in question is "BirdsofSkyrim"

@LC155 The best way to look at a wizard, besides being an easy way to install a mod. Is to realize that it is one persons idea of what the mod should look like 'in game' your taste may be different than others so don't be affraid to experiment and make sure you make backups of bashed mods that you won't want changed for the purpose of quick and easy re-install should things get out of hand, which can happen very easily. Play on Dude!

I'm not looking to rebuild. I was just curious how the price, and quality of playing games compares to consoles. I know, I know, I know! 'there is no comparison' Â But If someone was to watch you play Skyrim and askes you "how much would it cost to be able to play the game and have it look soooo much better than a console. What would you tell them? It's kinda like putting a price tag on a STEP install. Maybe I'm thinking too much :PÂ but thanks for the input so far, it's interesting!Â

Hey all! Â I am curious as to what some questimates would be to build a PC capable of playing Skyrim/STEP-Core and Skyrim/STEP Extreme. No product names or fanboy bickering. Just some estimates in general.

The road01_n.dds textures are pink and purple colored. Are they supposed to be? -
Missing (black/purple) Texture? Report it here!
bitdman replied to Farlo's question in DDSopt Support
When I press the tilde key while standing in front of the purple slab i get a number it is 0004629 does this help? I would realy like to identify the missing texture to find out what is missing and why. This is the bridge out of riverwood, by the way. -
Thanks for the reply kelmych. Yes,way to many I think. It's time for a clean install to see if the error goes away.

Missing (black/purple) Texture? Report it here!
bitdman replied to Farlo's question in DDSopt Support
I have missing textures on the top of the bridge walls  the slabs that go across the length on both sides. They are purple. what type of mod would these missing slabs be from? Thanks guys! -
What setting can correct the graphic glitch when turning side to side or strafing  that looks like a line of rippling water horizontaly across the screen. I've had this happen before a long time ago but can't remember what corrects it.

Robocopy is in System32. About the path, should I just type ''echo %path%'' in cmd(as administrator?) or something else, too. What should I do check when I run the command?Should Robocopy.exe be in SysWOW for 64 bit? Pardon me If this is a stupid question. There's much I don't understand.

Doesn't BOSS Already do this?

right click one of those mods in wrye's mod list window, select from the drop down window "Mark Mergable" then rebuild the bashed patch. It will put a + sign in the green box to show it is merged.

It looks like the 'skyrim mods' folder that WB creates is not in the proper directory. Is it just under the'skyrim' folder which will be in the 'common' folder of the Steam install? What version of WB are you using?
-
@peppergomez Eventually, I think you will want to learn WB. It's an amazing tool! But you have your hands,or brain pretty full at the moment. I'm really enjoying following this thread.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/winrar-winzip-7-zip-magicrar,3436.html I haven't had time to check this out yet but I just thought I'd pass it along to you guys. There may be good info about compression.

Doesn't this seem like the load order is being changed? and what effect on the saves might this be having? Hmm!
-
Well said mishmash! and Thank you kelmesh! @peppergomez, just a reminder that S.T.E.P. and the tools used are still a work-in-progress. Don't be afraid to experiment. Back things up, if in doubt. Read, reread, and read again. It will be worth it. And the best part is "for right now" All this invaluable knowledge is FREE. It will expand the value of the game 100% 'or more' "Long live modding and PC gaming!!!

The "working directory" is just a folder with subfolders where you put the optimized textures before you put them back into the game, or the "Skyrim directory" You can have the working directory on any drive or partition you like. I wouldn't use a SSD drive though. You might want to consider making a backup of these folders so you won't have to run them through DDSopt again. If you haven't read the guide about BSAopt and unpacking BSA's It has some good information also.
