@peppergomez.It looks like you've done a good job at getting your feet wet with DDSopt. It's kinda complex in the beginning but will become easier to use as you learn more about it, which can only happen by practice. You will have many more questions as time goes on and the answers will reveal themselves the more you reread the guide. "Practice makes perfect" and has great rewards if you play not only Skyrim, but all other Elder Srolls and Fallout games.Â

Do 'mismatched files' have a negative effect on the game? I'm referring to the files that show in wrye bash as mismatched. And can someone explain what "higher" or "lower" means, the bash readme and guide is kinda vaque and confusing .

when ever you use a program that points to the Skyrim launcher I think it will reset your 'skyrimPrefs' ini. You can try setting them to 'read only'. That might prevent them from being changed. I have my 'Skyrim.ini' set to 'read only' and it stays the same but my Prefs.ini always gets reset. Maybe because of ATTK, I'm not sure though.

Hey All! I would like to dabble in creating my own animations. Anyone familiar with any good programs for creating animations for use as signatures and email fun stuff?

Maybe the utilities need to be sorted into groups so when one installation tool is decided on you can know which other utilities will compliment that chosen tool. Too many choices are confusing for noobies, and it's not necessary to learn all the different tool options, just the ones needed to start S.T.E.P'n

I've had this same problem pop up before, only it seemed to turn All shadows white and light Black on the ground. Like the two shades traded places, That was bizarre.

I recommend RCRN-plus ENB by TheCompiler. See for yourself then tweak whatever you think you need to with The Imaginator.

I'm not familiar with Nvidia inspector so I don't know if your settings can be a problem or not. the sexy cities might be causing some problems. It seems like the problem your having may be texture conflict related. Do you have anyother lighting mods installed?

Hey DangerousB! You said you normally play with 25-30 fps. Was this without STEP and if so have you installed any mods before installing the STEP mods? This doesn't sound like a STEP problem. and unless you have the fps capped at 30, with that PC you should be able to play at 40 to 60 with no problem. Can you be more specific about any utilities your using and did you follow the STEP instuction carefully? Load order is critical.

Do you need to uncheck the read only box to play the game?

Should it be noted also that these changes made to the INI files will need to be redone if and when anyone does a "verify cache" through steam. I have overlooked these changes myself several times. Maybe a foot note or somthing,just a reminder.

@Acru I've seen these issues when trying different ENB settings but didn't think much of it at the time. Are you using an ENB series mod?

Thank you for the replies. All have good points. I have to say I would vote for Farlo's comments if there was a vote. He makes some very relivant points. I am a huge WB fan myself.

I found this .dll file in my Skyrim directory and I'm not sure how it got there. Is this part of a S.T.E.P. mod? the file is ssce5432.dll a spellcheck file.

iPresentInterval=1 is already in the prefs ini. I changed it to 0 but it made no differance. What is the line 'iAdapter=0'?

This is the problem I was talking about in the post'Trouble with the sky' except It didn't start happening untill I got a new CPU and MB. I switched from AMD to Intel then this problem started. I'll check out the v-sync first then maybe I'll role back the drivers for my 7870. Thanks guys. Happy days are here again!

I have two HD7870 cards in crossfire mode and GPUZ shows that they can run at X16 3.0 but are only running at X8 1.1 I'm not sure what to look for in the bios to change the BUS interface. The MB is a Sabertooth Z77. Any information or advice would sure be appreciated. And maybe some overclocking advice???? Thanx

I have been trying different things for two days now and nothing seems to make a differance I have noticed though It doesn't happen indoors or if I don't look up at the horizon. When I look at the sky in some spots it gets really bad, almost like a light show with flashing triangle like shapes mostly white but somtimes I can see colored shapes and distant trees flashing in and out. Like a very serious case of Z-fighting.

FightCat, just out of curiosity, read the post on the strange number found in skyrimPrefs.ini "fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=" and" fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=" Is it 1e+007 or 10000000.0000 or somthing else?

So is this number supposed to be 10000000.0000 or what? and is this maybe why people are now having trouble with their saved games.

Does anyone know what this number is? It's in my skyrimPrefs.ini and I don't remember seeing it in the past. But now the game graphics are flashing all over the place only in the outdoors areas inside its fine "1e+007" It's used for "fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=" and "fMeshLoadLevel1FadeDist="  Â
