My guess of your non-STEP additional mod is that you need to "Sleep To Gain Experience".

I agree with dropping this mod from STEP. RUSTIC POTIONS and POISONS already provides potion and poison textures, and it is compatible with (and used by) CACO. This mod is not compatible with CACO, unless you create a patch, and even then it would not look consistent with CACO. -
Go through the STEP guide for "Display and Video Card Settings" again, and double check your settings. Create a new profile, and untick all the STEP mods, so you just have vanilla Skyrim. Test vanilla Skyrim to verify there is no stutter. Then add back mods 5 or 10 at a time until you locate the mod which is causing stutter.

I use Immersive Horses with Craftable Horse Barding, and they work well together. If you are a smith you can craft horse armor (or buy horse armor from a stables). IH lets you find abandoned horses and claim ownership of them, which I find useful. Immersive Horses used to be tagged for testing. I see the 'testing' tag has disappeared, but there was no explanation in this thread - what happened?

Try rerunning BethINI and setting the preset to the lowest setting - 'Poor'. If that reduces stutter then it is an .ini file setting which is causing the problem.

For macrostutter problems the STEP guide also recommends uninstalling Skyrim Flora Overhaul - have you tried that?

Lucidity Sound version 2 was released today. It now has 100% of all the original Skyrim sound fx samples re-mastered/mixed. STEP has quite a few smaller sound mods that install after this and overwrite/conflict with this mod. Some of them could possibly be removed to simplify the sound section of the STEP guide.

I really don't like the term "Oldrim", and I'm also not too keen on "classic Skyrim". I prefer Skyrim 2011 and Skyrim 2016.

For my STEP Core profile I run DynDOLOD and create the two output folders, following the usual STEP instructions. For my STEP Extended profile, can I reuse the two DynDOLOD output folders created for STEP Core, or do I need to rerun DynDOLOD? I would prefer to do the DynDOLOD procedure just once for both STEP profiles. Which mods (if any) in STEP Extended, require you to rerun DynDOLOD? -
The 2.10.0 Changelog should have a line to show that Wiseman303's Critter Fixes FOMOD instructions have been updated. The "Bugs101HD" option is no longer selected.

The 2.10.0 Changelog states The Ruffled Feather MERGED - STEP Compilation But in 2.9.2.2 it was already in the STEP Compilation. So I don't see how there has been any change.

Here is a useful looking bug fix (released Feb 2017), for Timing is Everything. Timing Is Everything - Afflicted Fix by xackoff "Fixes quest that spawns infinite Afflicted NPCs introduced by Timing Is Everything 2.02. Backported the fix from USLEEP. The encounter was meant to be seen only once, Skyrim wanted to to it with RunOnce, but failed, so USLEEP changed the quest stage properly. I didn't disable the Afflicted completely, this fix allows you to see him ONCE and never see the NPC again after he gave you the quest." Perhaps it can be added to STEP Extended, or added to STEP Patches. -

The pictures you gave does make ELE look useful, compared to vanilla. But that is not directly relevant for STEP since STEP does not use vanilla lighting, STEP uses Relighting Skyrim. So a more relevant comparison would be vanilla + Relighting Skyrim versus vanilla + Relighting Skyrim + ELE I did this test in the past and the difference I saw was not as big as shown in your pictures. ELE changed the color temperature to look "warmer", but not a lot darker. -

I have wondered why Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - LITE is in STEP Core myself, too. I don't use an ENB, so don't see much point in installing Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - LITE. But I would like to add mods on top of STEP Core for darker dungeons and fog removal. But Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - LITE is (I believe) incompatible with these types of mods. I think Enhanced Lighting for ENB (ELE) - LITE should be moved from STEP Core into STEP Extended. -

I also wondered about billboards when I did the install. ​The DynDOLOD instructions say "​STEP Compilation - This provides the tree billboards to use with STEP. ..." ​ ​But when I look at https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP_Compilation​ and look through the list of mods, there is no billboards mod listed. So where do the tree billboards come from? -

I've installed STEP Compilation with the "no ELE" option onto Core and Extended profiles. For STEP Core STEP Core Patch.esp has "Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp" as an enabled master. STEP Core Patch.esp has a Description of "patch for STEP v2.2.9.2 without ELE/ICAIO support" - which is wrong, it should be "patch for STEP v2.2.9.2 no ELE support". For STEP Extended STEP Extended Patch.esp does not have "Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp" as an enabled master. - which I think is an error. STEP Extended Patch.esp has a Description of "patch for STEP v2.2.9.2 without ELE/ICAIO support" - which also looks wrong.

I've noticed the vanilla lantern candles are also always on, they are less distracting but I still don't like it. I don't want to install a mod which makes the problem even worse. I found this mod: Remove Distracting Things by kojak747 It has an option "Remove Distracting day light bulbs from cities - Timed City Lights Merged. This mod puts all the cities exterior light bulbs onto a timer so they switch off during the day. This mod only attaches a single script to exterior vanilla light bulbs in cities. It does not touch fixtures or fittings." It looks promising. I'll test it out after I finish getting STEP Extended setup. -
There are various STEP options for this mod: 1. Keep 101BugsHD and disable the .esp file - to disable the script and new critters/bugs, and just use the improved textures. 2. Keep 101BugsHD and also install the additional mod to fix the script error. 3. Replace 101BugsHD with alternative butterfly and dragonfly texture mods. Lepidoptera Of Skyrim by Impulseman45 High-Res Dartwing (Dragonfly) Texture by WankingSkeever They are both currently in STEP 'testing', and are both recommended by, and compatible with, CACO. 4. Remove 101BugsHD completely, since it has a script error and is currently unmaintained.

The link from this mod's wiki page to this thread is broken. I loaded STEP Extended, with this mod included, and noticed the mod is buggy. The candles in the lanterns are always on. They do not go off at 1900 and on at 0700 as they are supposed to. It has been a known problem since at least Nov 2015, as documented on the Nexus mod posts page. Candles on during the daytime kills the immersion for me. I'll have to uninstall the mod.
