I don't think it's bad, but sometimes mods put masters in on purpose. EBQO's patches don't even require all the mods that it patches, but they are added so that you know that both mods are needed. It's rare that something has a master without actually needing it explicitly.

Some use masters also as an aid to getting users Load Order right, among the many things LOOT takes into account when calculating a load order it will also respect if a mod has masters and place them appropriately in the correct order as a priority consideration.

Edit : For reference read Sorting Improvements as to everything LOOT takes into account

( If you read all of that, be sure to open the plugin graph in its own browser tab window so you see the full thing and can zoom in and around it, its quite an eye opener )

A note from Arthmoor

This was in response to post #11 made by Kranazoli :

Are S.T.E.P aware that the latest version (3.0.0) of Bring Out Your Dead ( BOYD ) does not have any NPC record edits in it anymore ?. This applies to both the vanilla AND Legendary versions so you likely need to update the documentation to reflect this.

@ Kranazoli - Beware if you are going to be trying to help the team by testing the USLEEP beta, you would be forewarned that a new game start will probably be necessary when USLEEP gets released out of beta. When its uploaded to nexus it will have all fixes done that were found during the beta stage testing. Any fixes ( like a missing script at the moment ), will not be retroactive fixes between beta test plugins and release plugins. Hence the warning by UPP team that its a Beta if you use it.

However if anyone goes from the old patches to upgrading to the release version of USLEEP when it goes live, will probably be able to just play on regardless.

Its just the beta going forwards that could be problematic if you use it.

And yes, USLEEP is a replacement plugin for the previous non legendary patches, so you dont need those installed when using this.

The questions relating to the BOYD beta and STEP are best answered by the STEP team ( if any of them are actually trialling the BOYD beta that is )

I'm just now seeing this, but the wiki mod page is up-to-date for the latest release of BOYD. Remember, we rarely put betas in the Guide, unless they are well tested due to the number of users which use the STEP Guide. So if there is a beta of BOYD, it's not in the Guide. We'll update once the beta goes live.

For users that are testing USLEEP, they might want to grab the betas for any mods that have beta compatibility with USLEEP. Some manual work in xEdit will be required before testing USLEEP. STEP is not officially testing this yet, but it is on our radar.

The STEP Extended Patch is not up-to-date for BOYD though. Latest (non-beta) version doesn't contain any NPC edits, so these need to be removed from the patch too.

Then the patches need an update. I'll poke EssArrBee to update them. :whip:

So they are just combining everything so the community has a higher chance of wanting to pick it up and work on it with a supplementary while they move onto Fallout 4?

I would rather them fix medium to large bugs going forward in future games. They waste so much time on small ones like placement issues, which most won't spot or care about anyway. It's rather silly.

THose small ones are really easy to fix. Takes little time. The big ones are usually done by the most experienced guys. Anyone can submit a fix for the tiny stuff. Create the plugin with stuff moved and then the UP guys can just copy it over.

How do they go to each reference, move it by hand, then repeat that hundreds of times quickly? Honest question. Also, if someone sends them a bunch of fixes in a plugin, wouldn't they have to check through it all to make sure they aren't being duped?

It took years to do it so there's nothing quick about it.

For those doing their own conflict resolution and who have added their own choice of mods on top of the packs on these forums, make sure to check the sticky post in the comments of the nexus page about changing masters. For many mods that required the older USKP plugin as master a fix can be really quick and easy, in case you don't want to wait for the mod authors to update it themselves.
