brokenpaine Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Okay so I need some help guys. I have never settled on a follower mod. Well the time has come because a couple of my play-throughs now demand it. Amazing Follower Tweaks - AFTUltimate Follower Overhhaul - UFOExtensible Follower Framework - EFFFollower Mod https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60763/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D60763&pUp=1 Now this last one....talk about under the radar. After checking out all the recent updates to all these....Looks like EFF and FM are the only ones going to get updates. What do you guys think? I wish I could remember all the compatibility issues off the top of my head but I don't have the time to sift through 30 minutes of text to point out the main pros and cons. I assume everyone here knows them. So I digress. Has anyone used the Follower Mod? Looks like the closest thing to vanilla/step out of them all. It actually seems like it would replace a few bugfix mods in STEP. (follower trap safety, ect.) (and multiple floors sandboxing...wait thats not in STEP!! wth!) xD Thanks for any input! Also another quick question. Follower Comentary Overhaul. Whats the deal with it? Does it conflict with iNPC,3DNPC, GDO or ICO?Forgot all about this mod and seen it mention in the FM page.
MonoAccipiter Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Follower Commentary Overhaul unlocks dialogue locked to certain NPCs to be available for any follower NPC who uses the given voicetype. It also adds idles to vanilla follower voicetypes by clipping and cutting from other audio. It's fairly well explained on the Nexus page. It shouldn't conflict with any of the mods you mentioned.I tried EFF a long time ago, and I remember it as being highly customizeable, and it pretty much gave me full control over my followers (the command wheel was pretty handy as well). In the end I dropped it though as I didn't feel I needed the large amount of features and I never was one for more than 1 follower anyways. That being said, it felt very well made, and did the job more than adequatly, it was simply not something I needed.I remember trying UFO and finding the dialogue menu tiresome, I much preferred EFF's way of handling that.
phazer11 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 EFF is the most up to date. I haven't heard of UFO or AFT in forever they've also not been updated in at least 2 years. Never heard of Follower Mod though.
brokenpaine Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Check it out. Check the images and see the HUD he has set up on the bottom part of the screen. Pretty cool. Reminds me of old School D&D games. I think Follower Mod is underrated. I'm trying to decide between EFF and MO. MO has a ton of patches, not sure if compat. with STEP yet.
dreadflopp Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 You should check out Simple follower overhaul https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31581/ which isn't very simple at all :) It's great if you want the followers to "come alive" in the sense that they start to do things on their own. I have been pleaded with EFF to, haven't used any of the other mods you mention. Atm I'm not using any followers mod since I uncertain if they conflict with Immersion citizens but Simple follower overhaul is definitely the mod I'll use in the future.
brokenpaine Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Ahh! I remember this guy, now HIS mods are underrated! His Suite of mods are like a replacer for many many script heavy mods. Hmmm...DO you have any experience with his mods....They are more complex. From the look of it, it'd be better to use all his mods together. I use iNeed. I think it's cool, but definitely script heavy, as is Realistic Need & Diseases. Do you have a preference on a Needs mod? His looks great but I'm not sure if I want to dive in with all of them. I mean damn with so many mods. Here's really where I'm torn. :\You got the Follower mods, mentioned above, definately a tie between at least 2 of them. Then the Needs Mods, they all have pros and cons, I'm using iNeeds after switching from RnD, still not satisfied. Also torn on Perk Overhaul Mods.Currently I'm using Ordinator, I'm in my 30's now, so I'm finally able to scratch the surface of the mod. Perk Overhaul mods are a pain to test, at least for me. I refuse to console in perk points or cheat, defeats the purpose of addressing balancing issues. But now at level 31, I've been able to invest heavily into a few perk trees and they are working as intended, blowing away vanilla.Still there a few other HEAVY contenders for perk overhauls. >.< What do you prefer? Here's another that I think is very interesting. Skyrim Custom Skills (SCS) Has anyone checked this out?https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56249/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D56249%26preview%3D&pUp=1Anyone that sees this thread, any input is welcome. I feel like I can always see the horizon with my "Perfect Modded Skyrim" but I've still yet to reach it. Deciding between such high quality, well done variations of internal gameplay mechanics mods is difficult!
FuzzRocket9 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) EFF is the best I can come up with. Simple Multiple Followers always had something messed up that I couldn't ignore. That said, I'm gonna try it out again, I really just want a simple mod with no features, save for two: Multiple follower support and wanting followers to stand down and follow when I put my weapon away. That's all I want. If you opt for EFF, make sure you go into Skyrim Revisited and follow the instructions.https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition#Extensible_Follower_Frameworkhttps://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited_-_Legendary_Edition#Extensible_Follower_Framework_Compatibility_Collection Anyone know if Simple Multiple Followers will run out of the box? I will run it for a day and check what's wrong with it. This should be helpful: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68720/? Edited August 13, 2015 by FuzzRocket9
Redferne Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Expired the author of EFF says on his page that the existing patch are not compatible with the latest version of EFF. I'm wondering why Neovalen still have them in the guide. As for Simple Multiple Followers I never had any issue with it when I used it.
Astakos Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 ^ Is there a link to expired's comment about the mentioned incompatibility and for which patch? I am afraid I cannot find any comment about that in his Nexus page. Thanks!
Redferne Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 In the sticky post: The new version will not be compatible with existing EFF patches, these will need to be remade unfortunately due to the nature of the changes, however with the event-based API it is much easier to access the EFF functions without actually referencing EFF itself in any way.

I don't use any other of his mods but i use iNeed which is great. I recommend the survival pack https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Survival along with Lot and degradation by the same author as iNeed. My experience with follower mods isn't big but i have used a steam mod, https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=87578317 which is very light weight.

This was a statement from expired long before the creation of these patches (and when version 4.0 (no beta) was realeased IIRC); so you do not have to worry abt that. They are still compatible ;) Edited August 14, 2015 by Astakos
Redferne Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Ah... That means I'll have to reinstall them ::

I've used this one from Steam for years and never had a single problem with it. I also used it with Convenient Horses and Better Stealth AI, and the three of them all worked together beautifully.

Unfortunately for me. Too simple. My fav. follower control system I've ever used for for Dragon Age Origins. I'm just going to tweak the **** out of EFF or AFT and force them to work perfect for me! lol EFF is the best I can come up with. Out of al of them I'm still leaning towards this one.Currently I'm testing AFT...and its not going well. So many mods edit follower AI...and the conflicts are heavy...ugh...still troubleshooting. My script load is high using AFT. I think I'm ready to drop Enhanced Blood, footprints and Wet and Cold. I'd rather direct heavy scripting towards Immersion. Needs and Follower mods, frostfall ect. But hell....I'm even thinking of ditching Frostfall. There are many alternatives that are much simpler. The guy who made the Simple Follower Mod offers many other "Simple" mods. A needs mod, horse mod, survival. Hmm.... https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/313054/?tb=mods&pUp=1 Check these out. I could replace quite a few mods with his...
