ENB Guide

Well I like graphical programming where you get a visual output at the end.

The only thing that is really REALLY annoying about it is that there is a severe lack of debugging and pre compilation. Hence if I forgot a ; after a line and go ingame and its not working..... well I can spend a while looking for that silly ; where a simple debugger would have found that instantly.

This kind of looks like the place to ask... rather new to ENB usage, and i've run into a bit of a problem. i've tried both .119 and .223 with both the Climates of Tamriel ENB and SkyRealism ENB's tryin both with each but the same problem persists, in certain indoor areas there will either be a severe like... "transparent shadow" effect?

i guess, not sure what the proper name is, where you'll see right through walls or flooring, the floor/wall will BE there but you see the shadow of the next room's walls/object on the other side of it clearly. The other problem if THAT doesn't occure is textures will be missing entirely from indoors, see completely through a wall or floor like it's not there at all. when i toggle enb off, everything is completely normal, nothing missing, turn it on, then things poof. any idea's suggestions would be appreciated...

I think that is a problem with SSAO. Apparently that just happens and there's not too much you can do about it except disable SSAO.

This is an old issue that I don't really remember the exact cause (yeah, helpful I know). I think...it has to do with using transparency AA in your drivers or using multisampling for transparency AA rather than supersampling or sparse grid supersampling.. Disable transparency AA in your drivers and see if the issue persists. If that fixes it and you were using multisampling, trying using supersampling instead.

Its due to how the AO effect is applied ingame.

Technically the player actor is essentially a box, which is somehow not properly linked to the world due to game engine design.

This means that the player and the rest of the world gets treated differently by the code. (Rough translation of how Boris explained it way back.)

There is nothing that can be done about it other then disabling the SSAO.

You can reduce the indirect lighting amount to make the effect less apparent, but that is about it.

Also it is only really noticeable at certain angles etc. If you just play as normal, then you stop noticing it again after a while.

Its either AA or AO, or a mix of the two... if its the very latest drivers, then perhaps an incompatibility. This sounds like a text book example of why you cannot have hardware AA and ENB AO at the same time since they conflict like this.

ohh! i think turning off transparency for my drivers fixed it, went back through a few buildings that were having the problem the most and they're all normal now, thank you all for your wonderful help!

Was beginning to get soooo irritated i swear lol been a taxing couple days reading through all of the STEP guides as closely as possible and going through the mod list (first time doing any real modifications) i thought i had read everything but i must of missed something somewhere(i'm sure there's more i missed somewhere), as thorough as STEP is i'm sure it mentioned it somewhere and i just didn't see it. soooo happy with how the game looks now though after all that work lol

Glad that worked for you! If you need transparency AA, you can try switching it to use Supersampling or Sparse Grid Supersampling rather than Multisampling. I think I remember this worked for some. If not, you'll just have to play with it disabled.

In case you don't know, transparency AA is for textures that have transparency in them...like foliage, fences, latices, etc. (part of the texture is see-through). Transparency AA reduces the "jagged lines" on the part of the texture that isn't transparently resulting in smoother fences, smooth foliage edges, etc.
