Question

Posted

I like helping with TES5Edit, but I only see TES5Edit questions when I happen to read a thread in which those discussions are taking place (e.g., Requiem Pack.)

Can we get a "TES5Edit Support" forum and direct everyone with TES5Edit questions to post threads there?

I wouldn't be adverse to it. Though a lot of the stuff would still probably be talked about in the packs pages. It would be nice if authors shared more of their tricks and such and helped update the merge guides and such.

I think this would be a great idea as I feel like there isn't really a generalized location for TES5Edit (there is the manual and it's own forum thread on the nexus).

Probably would help novice people like myself tremendously.

So, can we get a general xEdit Support forum? There's no place to talk about xEdit scripting. Trying to talk to other scripters via the Nexus messenger is hard due to inbox quota limits, the Nexus comments are useless because code is replaced with ******* smilies, Bethsoft's community team closes *active* threads to inflate their KPIs, and Github doesn't even have private messaging anymore.

Good idea, I'll pass it along to Z. We have Wrye Bash, MO, and a bunch of other niche support forums for one program, so no reason we can't have one for xEdit.

Should probably make it something like TES4/FO3/FNV/TES5Edit Support.

Good idea. My two cents worth: just call it xEdit, that way users can get to realize they are all the same tool, just for different games.

BETHEdit (or BSWEdit) seems to follow the nomenclature better, IMO. I had no idea what xEdit referred to when I first saw it. I would have guessed what BSWEdit was though.

I dont know how long the term xEDIT has been around but I picked up on it and used it in troubleshooting others problems.

Admittedly, not very many people understood what I meant.

Not sure if you had second thoughts on the name or not, but if you want to name it anything other than xEdit, now is the time ... before it begins catching too much. Then we will sync that name all around. Otherwise, all is well.

I've just always known it was xEdit. Comes from the fact it is the same exe just renamed in much the same way you can get it to be other tools by changing the name, or using switches.

Zilav calls it xEdit, so there you go.
