TomForStep Posted October 11 Posted October 11 It seems to me that the latest version 4.1.5f is considerably slower loading the plugins compared to the 4.0.x versions. At least that's my impression. It looks to me as if it doesn't use the cache. I have about 850 plugins and it takes SSEEdit about 75 seconds to load them all. Anyone else having this impression?
z929669 Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I haven't tried it yet. It could be due to new routines related to Starfield support. You can press the Shift key while clicking OK to skip loading refs.
D1Z4STR Posted October 11 Posted October 11 The cache folder does exist, and I use that version (it's in your xEdit main folder or if you made a xEdit output mod - where mine is located). I load around 920 plugins, and it takes around 35 seconds. It sounds like yours is not caching. When I delete my cache folder and load xEdit it took 92 seconds.
TomForStep Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 Thank you both for you replies. I did some more testing: Went back to v4.0.4: first time loading takes about 2 minutes. Afterwards with the cache obviously being used, it takes about 30 seconds. I will test again with v4.1.5f and report back.
TomForStep Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 No luck with v4.1.5f: manually deleted the cache in the output folder. First time loading takes about 2 minutes, about the same as v4.0.4. All subsequent starts take about one minute, double from v4.0.4. Selecting and loading only one plugin takes about 15 seconds with v4.0.4. With v4.1.5f, still about one minute...
Mousetick Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Do you have the Options > Experts > Decode Texture Hashes option enabled? Turn it off. You won't need this feature (new in 4.1.x I think) until you'll know you really need it, which is probably never. 1
TomForStep Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 I can't find this option. Where is it hidden? :-) Spoiler And not sure if this is relevant, but it seems that every time I start v4.1.5, one of the first info messages is "Background loader: start building resources cache".

You may need to launch with this switch:

Once you've made the Experts tab visible, the option is there: 10 hours ago, TomForStep said: And not sure if this is relevant, but it seems that every time I start v4.1.5, one of the first info messages is "Background loader: start building resources cache". It's absolutely relevant That's the part slowing down xEdit's startup at every launch. Once you've turned the option off, this message will go away and the startup speed should be more or less what it was with 4.0.x. Hope this helps.
TomForStep Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Thank you all for your patience and input! Much appreciated! Unfortunately I can't get the expert mod to show up. Here's my configuration. I have been using that for a long time, but without the expert parameter. Do I have to change the Arguments string somehow?

Change the arguments as I have them in the screenshot I posted previously. Except the '-SSE', which isn't needed if the file name you are using is SSEEdit.exe
